A/N: HAHA GUESS WHAT I LIED. I found time today to write a new chapter, and to mix things up, it’s in PETRA’s perspective! We’ll be starting right back up where we left off before the Fourth of July special and the Author’s Note!
Petra’s smile faded as Levi stood up to check on the others. She had never seen her boyfriend that angered in the years they’d known each other.
Petra was also not aware of how Coach Smith could act in such a manner. Levi was right, they did nothing wrong. She sighed in frustration, pushing her side bang back.
“What’s wrong, Petra dear?” She looked up to see Oluo sitting next to her, a bit of bloody gauze in his hand from pressing it against his tongue.
“Nothing, Oluo, Levi… he just got into a fight with Coach Smith…”
“Tch.” the teen growled, clicking his tongue. “He probably deserved it.”
Petra smacked Oluo in the shoulder, surprisingly hard. “What have I told you?! Stop trying to imitate Levi!”
“Now now, no need to act like a child.” Oluo chidded, crossing his arms.
“I’d tell you to bite your tongue, but you’ve already got that covered.” Petra cried, glaring at Oluo.
Oluo mocked being surprised. “Petra dear, you wound me. A young lady like you shouldn’t threaten people like that, especially classmates.”
“Next time you bite your tongue I hope you bleed out!” Petra hissed, jeez, how was she friends with the jerk in the first place?!
Oluo stood. “Whatever. I’ll show up at practice in a couple days. He needs a star player like me.”
Petra nodded. She turned at looked at Isabel who sat next to a sleeping Farlan.
Oh look. Isabel found a Sharpie.
That will take days for Farlan to wash off his face.
“How are Gunther and Eld?” She asked, turning to Oluo.
“Better. As good as they can be.”
She smiled, relief swarming her mind. “Good.”
Petra’s father came to pick her up at the hospital. She was given the clear, along with Isabel, Farlan, Oluo, and Levi. Farlan and Levi were staying at the hospital just in case, and the others were leaving.
Shrugging on her jacket, Petra walked outside to see her dad standing outside their car. He ran up to her, wrapping his arms around her.
“Petra! You’re alright? Not hurt?” He asked frantically as Petra hugged back.
“Dad, I’m fine, really.” She smiled, shaking her head.
He hugged her tighter his voice slightly muffled by Petra’s shoulder. “I don’t know what I was thinking…”
“Huh?” Petra murmured.
“Letting you hang out with, with thugs like those kids. First they change your attitude, now they almost kill you.” He said in a low voice.
Petra froze. Did her dad, call her friends, her boyfriend… thugs? She pushed her dad away, looking at him in disbelief. “Wha-how can you say that?! We were hit by the semi, not the other way around! And look! I’m right here, I’m not hurt!” she cried.
“Petra,” He whispered, “not here.”
“No.” She said, staring her father in the eyes. “We’ll talk about my friends and the boy I love right now.”
He frowned, matching her glare. “Those kids are a bad influence on you. First they have you hanging out late at night with them, now they’ll have you taking pot and damaging your A+ grades!”
“Taking pot?” Petra asked. “Where did you get that?!”
“Petra, enough.” Her father growled. “We’re leaving.”
She took a step backwards.
Her father looked at her in disbelief, suddenly taking on an angered expression. “Petra, get in the car now.”
“I said no.” She replied. “I have friends in there who need me. I’m staying right here.”
“See what I told you?!” Petra’s father shouted. “They changed you! They’ve made you something you’re not!”
“They’ve made me stronger!” She yelled back. “Strong enough to stand! And you can’t take that away from me!”
And with that, Petra turned and walked away, towards the hospital.
Towards her friends.
“PETRA!” Her father boomed. “I don’t want you ever hanging out with them again! This is the last straw!”
She didn’t look back.
Petra found herself beginning to cry, the tears pouring down her face so fast, so purposeful. She lifted her hands and buried her face in them as she walked back into the hospital.
She looked up and saw Levi, her Levi. The person she loved more than anything in this world. She rushed towards him, burying her face in his chest, breathing in his calming scent.
Levi frowned, placing a hand on her head. Petra got the sense he didn’t fully understand what he meant.
“He said that I’ll never see you again.”
