They played another six games before the break and neither one of them were waiting for one after it.’
I need a chocolate fix said Linda as she went into her bag and pulled out a mars bar each for Sheila and herself. Sheila bit into the bar after unwrapping it but Linda sucked on the chocolate savouring the taste on her taste buds.
“More water Linda?’
“Aye go on then.’
Sheila filled up a large cola cup then passed it to her friend.’
I hope that we can win in the second half so that we can go and spend some money in York.’
It would be nice wouldn’t it?’
Linda took out her Take a Break competition magazine and began to fill in the answers. She was so quick at doing them that Sheila just copied hers down when she was finished.
When David remounted the podium; Linda put her magazine away and concentrated on the game.’
All through the next four games they sweated as they both waited for one but the last house was for £250 and both women waited in anticipation.
After two lines Sheila again wanted four numbers she was thinking to herself “here we go again.’ as she waited of number five for the full house.
Six number came out in succession and no of them hers then he called on its own number five and Sheila shout house!
“Get in said Linda; well done.’
“I’m shaking Linda; that’s my biggest win ever in here.’
Well we got our wish; I will pay for your trip on Saturday Linda so get someone to look after your dad.’
They packed up their things then carried the touch pads to the counter where they were both paid out.’
Are we going to risk a tenner in the bandits then?’
“In for a penny said Linda.’
“I’m glad our ugly friend isn’t here today.’
“She would have been over like a shot if she’d been here.
“Well she wouldn’t have got anything off me I can tell you that. Anne is a total leech; I don’t know why you put up with her Linda.
“Well you can choose your friends but not your family.’
They walked down to the two bandits that they normally played on and found the Elvis Game then inserted the ten pound note.
“What are you playing Linda?’
“I’m going to play a pound a game If I win I win Sheila.’
She pressed the game to start and wheels went around. Sheila was only playing twenty five pence a game. It wasn’t long before Linda got free spins with three gold discs and the money began to accumulate. She won fifty pounds.’
She decided to play off her ten pounds and keep forty pounds for the trip assuming that she could get someone from the authorities to look after her dad for the day.
“Her father wouldn’t like it but she needed a break from him.
Sheila’s ten pounds soon evaporated but Linda managed to get twenty free spins again and this time she got the three gold discs twice her winnings increased to a hundred and fifty pounds.’
She halved with her father so he would pick up seventy five pounds tonight. That would keep him happy for a few hours when she dropped him off at the club
