It was that dancing that made me thirsty.’ I’m not used to drinking champagne.’

“I can see that.’ Maybe I should see you home.’

“Whatever would my aunt say?’

“Your aunt knows me well she wouldn’t mind.’ Gerald helped her to her feet and she made her way to the entrance. After being put into the back of Gerald’s car; Gerald went to tell Ester that he was taking Muriel home.’

He said that she had a blinding headache with the loud music.’

“Thank you Gerald, please tell Muriel that I shall be home presently.’

“I will don’t worry I will make sure that your niece gets home safe and sound.’

Gerald returned to the car then got in and drove Muriel back to the manor house. She had fallen asleep in the back of the car so Gerald carried her to the door and then took her to her room when Charles let him in.’

He took off her shoes and covered her with a blanket before coming back down stairs.’

“It is a blinding migraine; I get them they are terrible.’ It is best that you let her sleep Charles.’

“Thank you sir, I’m sure Mrs Martin will appreciate what you have done.’

“I shall see you in the morning Charles; if Miss Marshbanks is not up to going out; please ask Mrs Martin to kindly inform me.’

“That I will sir, Goodnight to you.’

“Goodnight Charles.’ Gerald drove away from the manor house with a smile on his face; He remembered how light Muriel was and how she had clung to him as he carried her up the stairs.

In the morning Muriel woke up about six thirty. She was thirsty and went to get a glass of water after removing her dress and jewellery. She slipped into her robe and came down stairs where the servants were just putting out the breakfast.’

“How is your migraine Miss Marshbanks asked Mrs Williamson?’

“Oh I’m fine now; I just need some food inside me and I will feel a whole lot better.

“Sit down Miss and I will bring you a nice cup of tea.’

“Thank you Mrs Williamson.’

Abigail joined her shortly after followed by her aunt.’

“Are you feeling better dear?’

“Much better thank you.’

“Migraine headaches are the bane of my life.’

“I didn’t know that you got them too Aunt Ester.’ maybe it is inherited.’

“Quite possibly; once you have something to eat you will feel better,’

Muriel ate porridge this morning; then had a poached egg on toast.’

“Gerald has asked me to go sailing on his boat today Aunt is it alright if I go.’

“Yes, but please take Abigail with you; Gerald Sedgemore has a reputation amongst the ladies I’m afraid.’

“I am quite capable of looking after myself Aunt, you needn’t worry.’

“All the same it is not befitting of a lady to be seen out without a chaperone.’

“People talk you know.’

“Alright Aunt I will take Abigail with me, I’m sure the fresh air will do her good.’

“Thank you Muriel, ’said Abigail excitingly.’

“What time is he picking you up?’
