Hello guys! First of all, I want to thank you for reading! Second, there will be mature content in here so read at your risk. Other than that, enjoy! Please comment about what you think of the story. I don't also edit a lot of the chapters so I apologize in advance for any errors!
Time couldn't go any slower. Moments before the bakery was closing and I couldn't help but beg for time to speed up. It's nearly 8:55 yet time was still. I wanted to visit my ill mother already.
"I'll just unpack some stuff in the back" Calum spoke.
It was just him and I left here. It wasn't busy at this time since it was nearly closing. I clean the counter tops to wrap up my day and soon heard a bell by the door. Who could have needed an order now. I shrug onto the front to see a dirty blonde guy in a navy blue suit. His hair was slicked back and he was hovering over the glass. His view didn't seem satisfying since he stood in silence, without expression.
"I'd like to place an order for catering" he told.
Catering? Right before we closed? Are you kidding me? I begin to take out a paper and pen to begin taking his order. He has an enormous amount of goods he wanted, by tomorrow. I nod as he continued naming piece of baked good we had on the menu.
"And where is this going to?" I ask lightly.
He responds by giving me a business card that read Styles Inc. It proved to me why this man was in a suit and how filthy rich he was. I, on the other hand, have to struggle for money just to keep my mom alive in the hospital. I ask him for anymore orders and finally announces that he's over with it. I sigh of relief since his order was very large.
"I'm sorry I didn't get a name for this," I say.
"Louis Tomlinson. Here's my number. Call me when you arrive at the building. I will lead you to the room and help out."
I nod and thank him for ordering. I wasn't thankful for it since I had to stay in late to make the pastries to bake for tomorrow. He thanks me for taking his order and walks out. I roll my eyes in annoyance and wait for Calum to come back in to tell him about the order and Louis.
"That's a huge order. We can't have this done by tomorrow", he exclaims.
I shrug my shoulders, "well it won't be done if we stand around here and not do anything!"
He begins taking out all the basic ingredients for me to mix. He molds them and puts them away to preserve the dough. We continued the routine until 12:30 in the morning. As we clean up, Calum bumps into me on accident and playfully hits me.
"Sorry! It was an accident!" I smile at him.
He winks and continues cleaning up with me. It was difficult not to like him but he wasn't someone I wanted to be with. Although I've known him for quite awhile, I've always seen him as a friend. As we finally finished up, I turn off some lights and tell Calum to come in early to help me bake the goods. He smiles and nods then leads me to my car.
I drive off to the hospital to see my mother. She was ill and currently in a coma. She hasn't woken up for 2 months and since then, I haven't heard her beautiful voice. The bills have been piling on me to pay for her care here. Insurance wasn't enough and the bakery only paid me so much. I walk into the hospital and head straight to her room. She laid still, quiet. I sit on the chair next to her bed and hold her hand.
The plain white room was dimmed from the small lamp that was on during the night. A tear welded on my eye as I began to talk to her,
"Hey mom. It's Colette again. I wanted to let you know how much I miss you. I heard that dad found a different girl in Colorado. He only sends me letters now and doesn't bother to ask about you. I hope you can wake up soon. I need your advice like before."
I kiss her head and stare at her closed eyes. I blink for a second longer to shut away the horrific sight of my mother's coma. I tell her goodbye and hope to see her awake tomorrow.
I drive home alone in New York. It was only busy in the city itself but I lived in a small town that didn't have heavy traffic. I lived in a condo with my mother, until she had become ill. I clean myself up in the shower and read my phone from a text from Calum.
Nice working with ya today! (:
He was aware of my mother's state and kept in touch majority of the time. I felt depressed before but not as bad now. I knew I was something special to him, but I couldn't see him more than my best friend. I reply with a simple text and tell him I was already going to sleep. I look beside my bed and stare at the picture of me, my father and mother. Before they split, life was easier. But now I lived with difficulties and depended on my own. I had to look for a better job soon before I lose my shelter and mother.
So new story! I know the first chapter is always boring since I introduce my characters but I wanted to save the good stuff for the next couple of chapters! Comment and vote please (:
