A little bit in to lunch, Ty came and sat down next to Meg.
“Hey!” Meg said perking up. “Welcome to our table.”
We all smiled at that, though I was still looking for Ryder. Finally I spotted him walking to his table. Why would he be so late? My thoughts were interrupted by Ty and Meg’s conversation.
“I just thought I’d sit with my favorite girl.” Ty said a bit cheesily.
“You’re so cheesy.” Meg laughed.
“Is that a bad thing?” Ty grinned back.
There was something about Ty that I didn’t like. Something was off about him. But if he made Meg happy, then I was happy too.
“Not at all.” Meg hugged Ty.
I looked back at Ryder who seemed a little frazzled. Now I was worried. Why did he seem so upset? I ignored Meg and Ty for the rest of lunch. I just smiled occasionally, seeming interested, but I was really thinking about Ryder.
It was probably nothing, I must be just overreacting. Maybe it was just a bad grade or something. Maybe he has to retake a test. I pushed Ryder out of my mind and payed attention to Meg and Ty who were being cute as ever.
“You should sign up for track!” Ty pleaded with Meg.
“Isn’t it too late?” Meg asked.
“No, I think they’ll still let you in.” Ty stated.
“I don’t know, I’m not really in to that kind of stuff. Why run when you don’t have to?” Meg smiled at that last part.
“Please? You’ll love it!” Ty insisted.
“Alright, fine. Only for you!” Meg replied giving in.
“We’ll have fun in track Meg!” I say, doubting what I just said myself.
“You’re in track?” Meg asked excitedly.
“Yeah, Ryder wanted me to.” I replied thinking about Ryder again.
“At least I’ll have a best friend then.” Meg and I smiled at each other.
I guess it will be kind of fun hanging out with Meg everyday after school. I rather hang out with her at her house, but I’ll take what I can get. I was also excited to be able to hang out with Ryder every day after school. I’d probably make a fool out of myself though. Oh well, as long as I’m with Ryder, I don’t even care.
