22. Chapter Twenty-One

Lucinda's P.o.V.
Astral and Jonathan as well as Belinda, Dimitri, and Celine, Tom, Abraxas, Esmeralda, my father Dimitri, Dumbledore and I had all went out to dinner at The Broomsticks in Hogsmeade, and when we arrive back at Hogwarts, I say goodnight to my father, and Tom and I patroll the halls together, like we normally do.
"I really like your father." Tom says to me, smiling.
"You do?" I ask him.
"Yes, he's a great man. Too bad you didn't have him instead of James raising you. I feel like Dimitri would have done a great job raising you."
"His Horcrux was an Animagus that transformed into a mouse." I tell Tom and that earns a chuckle.
"A mouse? He couldn't have chosen something a bit, well, bigger?" Tom's voice sounds happy, much happier than normal.
"Apparently when the man had attacked him, my father killed him and used him to make the Horcrux." I tell Tom. "It is rather funny. Though, it's also not."
"I know, baby." Tom says. "He's the reason you're so tiny." He pulls me in close. "But I think you're perfect just the way you are, Lucinda."
"I think you're even more perfect just the way you are." I tell him, gazing into his eyes. "I love you." I tell him.
"I love you too, Lucinda." Tom pushes my hair out of my face. "I'm sorry we fought this morning. I swear that wasn't my intention. I just..." He shakes his head.
"Can you be honest with me, Tom?" I whisper.
"Of course." He tells me. "It's just that you want kids don't you?"
"Yes, don't you?" I ask.
"Yes, but not when we're still kids, especially when you're so young. I don't want anything to happen to you, Lucinda." Tom admits. "I'm scared. My mother died when she had me. If anything happened to you.." He trails off again.
"Nothing will happen to me." I tell him. "I promise. Anyhow, I guess you are right." I wrap my arms around my belly. "We're not ready. But someday we will be, Tom. Would you still want that, in a few years?"
"Of course." He whispers to me. "You're all I've ever wanted. That's another thing we need to talk about." Tom says quietly. "I've proposed to you already, and I don't really have the money to buy you a ring or anything and I'm sorr-" I cut him off.
"Tom, I don't want a ring." I tell him.
"You're saying you don't want to marry me..." Tom trails off in a whisper.
"No, quite the opposite." I say. "I still want to marry you. Screw the ring, though. That's not what I want. I want to wake up beside you in two years, knowing that we'll be together for the rest of our lives. I want to hear our kids playing while we cook and laugh and have fun. Most of all, Tom, I just want you. Everything. I want everything that is you. The pain, the suffering, the love, everything, Tom."
Tom is quiet for a moment. "I wish I could read your mind all of the time." He whispers. "You really want to marry me even if I don't have money and can't exactly take care of you?"
"Tom, I'll have all the money we'll ever need. What's mine is already yours."I tell him. "But you wanna know something?"
"Hmm?" He whispers.
"Money will mean nothing, as long as I have you. You're worth more than all of the money in the world." I whisper back, running my fingers through his dark hair. "You're the reason I'm here, Tom. You alone."
"I wish I could tell you how much you mean to me." Tom whispers. "Sadly, words can't describe what I feel for you. I'm not as smart as you are, nor do I have a way with words the way you do. But you do know how much I love you, don't you?" Tom asks.
I nod. "I've seen it." I whisper. "Not only in the way you act around me, but I'm easily able to read your mind, and despite the fact that we've fought and made up so many times, I know exactly how much you love me. As much as I love you." I say.
"Yes." Tom whispers, pulling me even closer. "I'd say that I love you more, but I think perhaps we love each other just the exact same amount. I love you."
"I love you too." I whisper back, pressing my lips slowly and gently to his. "But you're right. We should wait a while. And when we do, I promise, we can use protection, so you'll have less to worry about."
"I'll always worry about you, my love." Tom tells me, pushing my hair away from my face again. "But I do want to say this, when I do get the money, I'm buying you a ring, because it's the least I could do. I want everyone to know that we'll marry each other when this," He gestures around the room meaning the school, "Is all over. I want everyone to know I'm yours, and you're mine."
"I think they already know that." I smirk and Tom gives me a smile before kissing me gently. Every once in a while the kisses we share are gentle, but there are times, most of the time that is, that it's not gentle at all.
When we both pull back, Tom is still smiling and I notice that the way he's looking at me is a look I've never seen him give me before. It's intense, but it's also sweet and calm and gentle.
"I never thought I'd be so lucky." Tom whispers, and I kiss his cheek, then hug me.
"I'm the lucky one." I whisper back.
"I guess we're both lucky." Tom says, gently pushing my back against the wall of the tower. I smile up at him caressing his cheek gently.
"I can't believe how far we've come since we first met, Tom." I tell him. "I'll never forget that day."
"I was an ass." Tom says.
"But at least you were a cute ass." I wink at him and that makes him smirk.
"Definitely not as cute as you, Luce." Tom chuckles, watching me closely. "I should have been nicer to you though. I liked you the moment I laid eyes on you and when you spoke you were so quiet and sweet, so perfect. For you to have even been placed in Slytherin was what really made things that much tougher. I'd liked you, and I didn't think I could be with you, ever. I didn't think you were even interested in me. How could you be?" He says, shaking his head.
"How could I not be, is the real question." I whisper. "The ony reason I'm here is because of you, Tom. It's always been you."
His cheeks turn pink and he whispers "It's always been you as well. I was meant to meet you, Lucinda. You've really changed my life."
"I hope that it's for the better." I tell him, and look away.
"What? Of course it's for the better." Tom says. "Are you okay?" Tom asks me, and I nod.
"Of course." I turn to face him, smiling. "I'm engaged to the most amazing man in the world." I whisper to him, and his eyes are passionately staring at me.
"I'm engaged to the most special, most amazing, most beautiful young woman in the entire world, and I promise I'll never let you forget it."Tom whispers.
"I wish we could-"I stop myself and his eyes are watching me even closer. "Forget I said anything."
"Not likely." Tom murmurs, pushing my hair off of my neck, and lightly kisses it. "We could..." He trails off, and pulls back.
"Could we?" I ask, and he smiles.
"I have stuff we can use." Tom whispers. I nod, and he takes my hand and we rush to his room. I click the lock in place, and kiss Tom quickly, his hands moving over my body slowly as he kisses me back.

Hermione's P.o.V.
Instead of going home for summer, I stay with the Weasley's, of course, as far away from Ron as physically possible. When George stops by, he says that I can stay his and Fred's room since he no longer lives there, and that Fred won't mind either. I thank them, and unpack, thinking about everything that has happened.
George had stayed in the room while I unpack, and he keeps staring at me. I glance over at him, and he doesn't look away.
"Why are you staring?" I whisper, and sit down on the side of his bed.
"I can't believe you and Draco are together." He says, and when I start to get upset, my cheeks getting hot, he quickly protests. "Not like that, Hermione. I'm not saying it in a bad way. I'm happy you're no longer with Ron. I'm happy you're finally happy."
"I really am." I smile, placing my hands on my belly as the baby kicks. George smiles, and sits down beside me.
"I'm glad." He says. "Do you mind if I put a ward on the room?"
"What?" I ask, surprised.
"To keep Ron from coming in here, to mess with you?" George asks.
"I mean, I guess that would be fine." I tell him. "I appreciate it."
"Anything to protect you and the baby." George says.
I smile again, turning to hug him. "Thanks, Georgie." I tell him, and he nods, hugging me back. I feel a sharp kick and George gasps, pulling back.
"How far along are you?" He asks, shocked.
"A few months. But um, George. Don't be scared or anything but um, Draco is a werewolf and he changed me the night we...you know." My cheeks feel even hotter.
"You're a werewolf?" He whispers.
I nod, trying to detect the fear in his eyes, but I'm unable to. "Don't be scared." I whisper.
"I'm not. I should have known." He smiles then, and I smile back. "So the baby isn't really all that human is it?"
I shake my head. "My baby was concieved right before I was changed, and Draco and Dumbledore and the nice Werewolf doctor thinks that the baby will probably be able to shift, even when it's not a full moon." I place my hands on my belly again. "Apparently I'm supposed to have the baby this summer. Draco said he'd be there when it happened, just to let Ginny or Harry know, and have them tell him."
"I'll be there as well." George tells me, "I promise, 'Mione. You certainly won't be alone."
"Thanks, Georgie." He nods, and I hug him again.
"I'm proud of you, Hermione." George says. "You're finally giving into who you really are, and telling the person you love that you do love them. I always knew you were brave."
"And I always knew you were cheesy, but I love you anyways." I laugh.
George chuckles. "Even if you and Ron aren't together and won't ever be getting married, you're still part of the family Hermione. Never forget that."
"There's no way I'll let you forget it either. You'll be seeing me here every Christmas." I nudge him.
"I'm glad you're going to be staying at school and not leaving like Fred and I did." George says. "Just make sure you take care of the baby. You'll have Harry and Ginny to help you, but I still want you to be careful, kiddo."
"I will." I tell him. "I'm really sorry Fred won't be able to see the baby." I whisper. "He'd have been ecstatic."
"That makes two of us." George says, squeezing my hand, and whispers "He'd be as ecstatic as I am."
"I bet you never saw this coming, huh?" I ask him.
He shakes his head. "I hadn't. But in a way, I'm glad I hadn't. Surprises make it that much more enjoyable."
"Oh, Georgie." I hug him again, tighter this time. "You and surprises go together like chocolate and milk, or maybe like a witch or wizard and their wand."
"Or like Fred and me." George whispers.
"I miss him too, George." I whisper. "Don't worry. We'll see him again. Until then you're going to be one hell of an uncle."
"You bet I will." George smiles at that. "Well, if you need anything, I'll be downstairs helping Mama out with some chores. I'll probably stay most of the day. Come down and see me before I leave, alright?"
"Of course, Georgie." I say, hugging him once more before letting him walk out the door, drawing his wand and placing a ward on the door, permitting everyone but Ron to enter the room. He smiles, and walks downstairs.
|Flashing Backwards|
Tom's P.o.V.
When the exams come up, I'm not as prepared as I had thought. The end of the school year had come quicker than I was prepared for, and Lucinda and I seemed to be becoming closer everyday. I'd started saving every amount of money I recieve, and I know that by the time graduation comes around, I'll be able to afford a ring for Lucinda. Lately, she's seemed a bit quiet, like the way she was before I'd placed the locket back around her neck after placing a fragment of my soul into it. But, she's also seemed to blossom this past year, changing in a way I cannot quite place my finger on. Abraxas and Lucinda are friends again, Esmeralda is engaged, and my followers fear what will happen if they anger me in the slightest.
One night while patrolling separate from Lucinda, I catch Abraxas in the library by the tower, and he's talking to a pretty girl about his height, with shoulder length light brown hair, and kind, smiling blue eyes. I see that he's helping her with her assignments and smile. So he'd gotten him a girl who isn't anything like Lucinda. When Abraxas sees me standing there, he looks startled.
"I have permission from Professor Dumbledore to be in here." He says.
"I know. Just didn't realize that he'd given her permission as well."
"He did." The girl smiles. "Tom Riddle?" She asks, glancing at my Prefect badge.
"Yes, and you are?" I ask.
"Colleen Lovegood." She smiles.
"You're related to Lucinda." I say shocked.
"Distantly so, yes. Cousins, I believe, about 4 or 5 times removed."
"And you're in Ravenclaw."
"Yes." She smiles. "Is that a problem?"
"No." I shake my head. "Carry on with your work. I need to talk to you tomorrow, Abraxas."
He looks startled, prehaps even a bit frightened. "Um, why?"
"I was wanting to throw a surprise party for Lucinda and needed some help." I tell him. "We can discuss this more tomorrow though. Go ahead and help Colleen."
"Thanks." he whispers. "I'll help with her party. See you tomorrow." Abraxas says. I nod and leave the two of them alone. I meet up with Lucinda near the Common Room, and when she shows up, her hair is pulled up out of her face for a change, and her clothes look as if they'd been mussed.
"What happened?" I ask her, shocked.
"Got into an argument with a ghost." She rolls her eyes, "And I tripped and fell. Don't worry. I saw the nurse, and she said I'm alright. I just decided to put my hair up because I was really mad and I kept twisting my hair around my finger. Don't need to break off my hair, that's for sure."
"You look beautiful with your hair up anyways." I kiss her forehead. "You sure you're okay?"
"Of course." She answers, "Kinda tired so I think I'm gonna head up to bed."
"Oh, hey before you go, guess who I ran into?" I ask her.
"Who?" She asks. "No one is supposed to be up."
"Abraxas. He had permisson from Dumbledore to help some girl with her assignments. She's actually distantly related to you. Her name is Colleen Lovegood."
"Oh." She seems surprised. "I don't think I've ever talked to her."
"I think Abraxas likes her." I chuckle.
"Oh that's so sweet." Lucinda's eyes light up, a smile on her beautiful face. "I'm so going to find out everything I can!"
"Wow, you sure seem excited about him liking her." I say with a laugh.
"Think about it." Lucinda tells me. "He won't be getting in our way anymore."
"Hmm, yes. There is that." I kiss her forehead again. "You get some sleep, and I'll see you in the morning."
"Of course." She tells me, and gives me a quick goodnight kiss before skipping off to the girls dormitory. I head back to my room, and lock the door before laying down and closing my eyes.
Abraxas' P.o.V.
Colleen and I had stayed up late talking, laughing and working on our assignments as well as studying for the O.W.L.S. A few times, she'd look over at me and just stare at me, a small smile on her face. She looks like a beautiful statue when she doesn't move and is just watching me. Her skin is darker than mine, and her hair is light brown, her eyes a very beautiful baby blue. At the end of the study session, I lean towards her, and I'm very happy when she doesn't back away. Instead she wraps her arms around my neck, pressing a light kiss to my lips. Her lips are very soft yet plump and the kiss steals my breath away. When that kiss is over, I presume that she'd back away, instead, she pulls away just to guage my reaction, and she seems to be happy about it, and kisses me again, this time less gently. I kiss her back, my heart racing, my hands shaky and cold, my cheeks flushed. I've never felt this way before, especially not with Lucinda. With her, I wanted everything to go quick, but not now, not with Colleen. She's beautiful, and sweet, but also not as innocent as Lucinda was before Tom had taken her virginity. No, Colleen knows just how to make my heart race, but also knows just how to keep me in line. She finally pulls back and smiles at me.
"I've been wanting to do that all week." She giggles.
"Why didn't you?" I murmur in surprise.
"Abraxas, I know you're still hung up over Lucinda." Colleen says. "I wasn't going to rush you."
"After that kiss, Lucinda is the furthest thing on my mind." I blush at that, rubbing the back of my neck, embarrassed that Colleen's lips had distracted me so well.
"That's sweet." Colleen's cheeks cover in a slight blush and she says "I should get to bed. But I'll see you tomorrow. Maybe we could hang out at Hogsmeade this weekend?"
"I'd love to." I say honestly. "Can I possibly get a goodnight kiss?" I whisper, knowing I must sound desperate, but at that moment, I couldn't care less.
"Hell yeah." She says, tightening her arms around my neck, and she kisses me just slightly rougher than she had before, and it again leaves me breathless. I press one last kiss to her lips before she unwinds her arms around my neck, and gathers her books and parchments. "Goodnight, Abraxas." She giggles, and rushes out of the library, leaving me staring after her.
I gather my stuff and head back to my room, knowing that tonight and many nights to come I'll be dreaming of those kisses we'd shared.
