"Hey Rory" My best friend, Addy, said as she picked up the phone.
"You will not believe what happened at school today" I said frantically. Addy lives one town over so we go to different schools. Therefore, we have to tell each other everything that happens at both schools.
"What?" She said, sounding a bit concerned. I explained the whole situation to her in full detail. From Audrey accusing me of never having a boyfriend to Luke kissing me.
"Dude thats awesome!" She exclaimed.
"Its not like we're actually dating. People are gonna find out sooner or later and then its gonna turn into something bigger than it already is" I didn't know why she thought it was so cool. Its not like Luke would suddenly fall in love with me throughout this whole thing.
My phone buzzed causing me to jump as I was just about to fall asleep. I groaned and reached for my phone that was sitting on my bedside table.
New Message From: (315) 555-2845
Well that's weird, I don't know that number. I slid the unlock button over and opened the message.
Hey, it's Luke.
I stared at the screen, dumbfounded.
How did you get my number?
I sat anxiously as the three dots appeared on the screen.
I'm your boyfriend. Why would I not have your number ;) Anyway, how do you get to school?
Not anymore. Address?
I told him several times he didn't have to do it, but after a while I gave up the fight and gave him my address.
Awesome. See you tomorrow at 8 a.m.
What did I get myself into?
My arm came up high above my head before slamming down onto my alarm clock.
"Shut up" I yelled into my pillow. I sat on the edge of my bed and grabbed my phone.
7:32 a.m. I stood up and walked into the bathroom, brushing my teeth and hair and changing into my clothes for the day. I took off my glasses and put my contacts in before walking out of the bathroom and down the stairs.
"Morning" I called out. No response. Guess my parents left early. I pulled on my shoes and walked out the door. A car that I had never seen before was parked in my driveway. I furrowed my eyebrows until Lukes blonde hair popped out of the window. I half smiled as he winked at me. I walked up to the car and got into the front seat.
"Why'd you look so confused?" He asked as he chuckled slightly and backed out of my driveway.
"I kinda thought last night was a dream" I laughed.
"I'm in your dreams?" He turned his head to me and smirked.
"I, uh, no. I just, um, shut up" I stuttered as I looked out the window, causing Luke to laugh harder.
"You're cute when you're flustered" He blurted out, surprising both of us when he said it. "Sorry" He said quietly.
"You're fine. Anyway, how do you plan to pull this whole dating thing off?" I wondered.
"It's pretty easy, Rory. We'll just act like a stereotypical couple when we're around people. You know what I mean?" He asked, raising his eyebrow and looking at me.
"Uh, yeah. We can do that" I said, reluctantly as we pulled into the schools parking lot. He kissed my cheek before we separated to our lockers.
"The gig's up, Aurora" I heard as I was putting in my combination. I really wish she would stop calling me by my full name.
"What gig, Audrey?" I questioned, crossing my arms.
"We all know you're not actually dating Luke"
"Jealousy doesn't look good on you, girls" I smirked.
"Neither does lying, right ladies?" Taylor and Kasey nodded in response.
"Good thing I'm not lying then. I hate to run but I gotta get to class, see ya" I smiled and waved while walking away.
After going through all my classes and having lunch with Luke, the school day was finally over.
"Hey Luke" I greeted as I met up with him in the hallway.
"Hey Rory. I have football practice, so I can't give you a ride home. Is that alright?" He asked, scratching the back of his neck.
"Of course. I'll just take the bus" I smiled.
"Ok, great. See ya tomorrow then" He waved and walked away before stopping and looking over his shoulder. "Babe"
