First day of senior year at North Brookden High. Most schools, popularity is immensely important. Well, at North Brookden they take it to the extreme. As if we were in Mean Girls, three bitches basically run the damn school. Audrey Harrison, Taylor Franklin, and Kasey Wilson. I, Rory Fowler, on the other hand am the quite opposite of the popular girls. I have one friend, the only friend I've had since we were both under the age of 2.
I sat on the edge of my bed, stretching my arms and yawning. I rubbed my eyes and stood up, my knees almost giving out. I groaned as I was unprepared to face hell on Earth for the next 180 days of my life. I walked into the bathroom and quickly took a shower then changed into a pair of black shorts and a grey tank top. I walked downstairs and saw my dad reading the paper and my mom making coffee.
"Morning" I greeted. My mom looked up while my dad kept his eyes on his oh so important paper.
"Morning, sweetie. Ready for school?" My mom asked, handing me a cup of coffee. I took a sip before shaking my head. She laughed and gave me a hug before I pulled on my shoes and walked down the street to the bus stop.
"Well shit" I mumbled as we pulled up to the front of the school. I walked up the stone steps and into the doors, teachers lining the hallways to greet you, a horrendous sight. I spotted people I hadn't seen since junior year. Audrey and her little bitches. My old crush, Henry. And the most popular guy in school. The schools star football player that every girl wants and every guy wants to be. Luke Hemmings. He strolled through the halls, winking at girls and high fiving guys he found worthy enough of the honor to be acknowledged by him. He was a real piece of work.
I made my way to my first period class which happened to be chem. I walked in right as the bell rang. Everyone gave me the stereotypical "You're late" look. The one where they're looking at you as if you've just murdered someone.
"Sit down, Ms.Fowler" Mr.Anderson said strictly. I looked around to find an empty seat at a lab counter.
"You have got to be fucking kidding me" I said in my head as I noticed the only seat was right next to none other than Luke. I sat down and immediately felt him staring at me. I looked over at him to see him looking at my body up and down then looking to the front of the board, shrugging and smirking. What a great way to start the year.
It was finally the end of the day when I heard someone yell my name.
"Aurora!" I heard the squeaky voice call, making me cringe as well as the sound of my full name. I turned on my heel to see Audrey, Taylor, and Kasey. I rolled my eyes as they scurried to get closer to me.
"Girls, we're actually in the prescence of Aurora Fowler. A senior who has never had a boyfriend before. Right, Aurora? Is that true?" She said, raising her eyebrows.
"And thats your business because...?" I trailed off.
"You're avoiding the question...so its true" She and her fellow spawns of Satan began cackling like witches as I stood there with my arms crossed.
"You're wrong, Audrey. I do have a boyfriend. And he's better than any boyfriend, or should i say fuckbuddy, you've ever had." I bullshitted causing her to gasp.
"How dare you. If you really have a boyfriend, whats his name?" She questioned, slightly nudging my shoulder. My eyes widened a bit as I stalled to think of a fake name.
"Uh it's.." I began before I was interrupted by a familiar voice.
"Luke. His name is Luke and he's right here." He put his arm around my shoulder and pulled me closer to him. The jaws of all three girls dropped as I began to blush.
"No way in hell you would date...her" Kasey said as she gave me a disgusted look.
"Oh there's a way. And I guess we figured it out" Luke smoothly replied as I remained speechless.
"Prove it" Audrey insited. Luke shrugged and leaned in before placing his lips on mine. The girls scoffed before flipping their hair and walking away. I turned to Luke wide-eyed.
"What the fuck was that?" I half yelled. Luke smirked then laughed.
"Listen, I hate those girls just as much as you do. I saw them picking on you so I decided to piss them off." He simply replied.
"Ok well uh, thanks, I guess? But the problem is that we now need to pretend like we're dating."
"Thats no problem for me. I'm sure we can pull it off. I'll see you tomorrow...girlfriend."
