3. **INLAY NOTES**
So here we have the new single from my forthcoming album RESET. California, surprisingly, wasn't originally going to make the album. You might wonder how it managed to go from outtake to lead single? Well, I'll tell you.
This song, when actually played, has a very simple yet very, very effective guitar riff. The lyrics are simplistic in parts and you may notice the lack of a bridge, which I usually feature in my tracks (instead, the song follows the simple, overused structure of verse-chorus-verse-chorus-middle-chorusx2). This is a formula I usually hate due to the fact it is overused in pop music (and by some wannabe rock bands who think they're something special). However, I realise that I don't overuse this formula, so why shouldn't I be allowed to use it once or twice? I could add in a bridge, but it wouldn't be the same. That riff that's in my head just wouldn't work. This track is a call to arms - it's me telling people to go out and have some fun! There are more complex tracks on the album but, at the end of the day, this one is meant to be fun.
So there you have it. This song went from rags to riches (and, ironically, took its place on RESET from a song called Rags To Riches To Rags).
