It was the middle of the week. The Gala was on Saturday. So far, I have gone with Louis to six different business meetings in the past two days. I knew he was a busy man, but I didn't think it would be this much. At least today we get a break from it all. I was relieved.
Louis and I headed up to the fourteenth floor when lunch break hit. We walked into his office. He closed and locked the door. He didn't want anyone coming in to disturb us. He kissed my lips while pulling up my skirt. I reached down and started unbuttoning his pants.
He picked me up and carried me over to the desk. He set me down. He took a condom out, put it on and slid in. I bit my lip, breathing heavily with each thrust. I arched my back to feel more of him inch deeper. I closed my eyes, only because it felt so good. He pulled out and told me to turn around.
I did as he took me from behind. I had my hands placed on his desk. His hands grabbed my hips. He was either holding me in place or pulling me towards him with each movement. Either way, the pleasure was still the same. He pulled out when he was finished and threw the condom in the trash.
He picked up my panties before I could get to them. His eyes playful as always when he placed them into the pocket inside of his suit. "I'm not giving these back until tonight." he smirked. I rolled down my skirt while he buttoned up his pants.
He gave me a kiss before I was dismissed from the room. I tied my hair into a ponytail. Sophia approached me to talk about the Gala on Saturday. I followed her into the break room. Zayn was there as well. "How'd the charity go last week?" asked Sophia.
I told her how the event went, but I left out the details about going to Louis' condo afterwards. I wasn't sure how they would react if they found out what the two of us had done. "Is this Gala a big deal?" I wanted to prepare myself for the event Saturday.
"If you're going as Louis' date, yes. It's just this big party where CEOs and their hot date's go. Also, another CEO's company is hosting it. We hosted last year's." said Sophia.
"Are you two invited?"
"Louis announced it to everyone through email that we would have to go." If another company is hosting it, I might see Perrie and Harry there as well. I couldn't stop thinking about the first day I met Harry. He was much more different that Louis. He didn't give off the rich guy vibe that Louis did.
Harry seemed more down to earth, and I liked that about him. After work, I had to stay a bit late because I was waiting for Louis to finish up. Louis exited his office. "Tell me more about the Gala on Saturday." I said when we entered the elevator.
"It's this one evening where we all have to be nice to each other, or pretend anyway. Some of the people there were colleagues of mine, but we were never really close to one another. We had different interests in college. Your job is to go and have fun."
"You're just stringing me along for the ride?"
"Alyssa, are you thinking that I'm using you? Those people haven't seen me with someone since college. I think they'd be a little curious as to who I'm bringing. After all, I've gone to the Gala alone twice. It's about time they see me with someone new."
I wanted to more than just an intern. I wanted to be more than an accessory for his arm. I wanted to be more than just his date that he takes to business meetings and grand events. I wanted to be his. I could tell he wasn't ready for that yet. It seemed to me that we were just business partners.
He could tell that something bothered me. He didn't bother to ask. I didn't want him to. I don't want him to know what I was thinking, how I was feeling a certain way about him. He drove me back home to my apartment. I hadn't said a single word since we left.
I was only thinking about what he told me. I couldn't look him directly in the eye. "Maybe you should find someone else to go with." I said. Louis was confused by this statement. Before he could open his mouth to ask, I was already out of the car. I headed inside and walked to the elevator.
The doors slid open. It was the man I had been seeing since I moved here. He was about to step out, but he stayed inside when he saw me. I entered the elevator and pressed the button without a word. "Are you alright?" he asked. I told him about my day, leaving out a few details.
He said that Louis doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would keep a relationship that long. I wanted to say otherwise, but I didn't know Louis well enough to back up my reasoning. All I know, Louis could've lied to me about his previous relationship with Jade.
I could always ask Sophia about Louis' relationships. But what kind of person would that make me? I didn't want to be one of his women that he doesn't want to see the next time he has a new woman with him. "I don't want to be alone tonight." I said.
The man nodded and escorted me down the hallway to my apartment. Liam was out with his friends. I didn't know where they were. I wish I had him to talk to. The man and I entered my apartment. I closed the door behind us. "I'm Niall." Niall held out his hand towards me.
That name sounded familiar. I reached out and shook his hand to introduce myself to him. "Wait, Alyssa Dane from 8th grade graduation? Miss Honor student and Salutatorian? I was the geeky guy from History, remember?" It all made sense to me now. He looked so different then.
When did he get so hot? I remember he used to have brown hair, but guess he dyed it blond. Still, his baby blues were the key to winning any woman's heart. "Oh yeah, you always sat in the back." I smiled.
"I wasn't sure if I had a chance to sit with you." I set my bag down and entered the kitchen. I asked Niall if he wanted anything to drink. He told me he wanted water. I handed him a bottle, which he thanked me for. I grabbed myself one and sat down on the barstool.
He joined me and opened his bottle to take a sip. "What have you been up to since high school?" I remember Niall and I had gone off to different colleges after high school. We never really spoke to each other because we had different friends. I'm sure he had a crush on me, but he didn't make any moves.
"I went to UC-Berkley and majored in business. I started my own company that I have here in North Los Angeles. Guess you can say I never left this place." he chuckled. "I was surprised to see you here. I thought you would've gone to New York or somewhere other than here."
"That makes the two of us." I smiled.
"I know this may seem a bit sudden, but there's this Gala that I have to attend. I don't have anyone else to ask, so I was wondering if you'd join me." I thought about Louis. We didn't end on a good note. I just didn't want to go with Louis for him to show me off to all his colleagues.
I decided to agree to go to the Gala with Niall. I had some history with Niall, despite not seeing each other since high school graduation. "I'll stop by to pick you up." He said before he left my apartment. We exchanged numbers. He headed out of the apartment after saying goodbye.
Liam was just now arriving from his time out with his friends. He motioned behind him to ask me about Niall. I told Liam that it was an old friend from high school. He brought up the party on Friday that he had asked me to go last week. I told him that I'd be happy to go.
It was the Friday before the Gala. I arrived on the fourteenth floor. Louis' office door was closed. "Liam said you're joining us tonight." Sophia, Zayn and I were in the break room having lunch. Louis still hadn't come out of his office. The others weren't paying much attention as I.
Guess I felt bad for what I had said to him the other day. "Yeah, I might as well." I smiled. Sophia asked me about the Gala. I told her that I wasn't planning on going with Louis. They were both surprised to hear my answer. They both assumed that I would be going with him. "Why aren't you going with him?" asked she.
"I just don't want to go and have people talk about me again. They're all giving me these looks, and I don't enjoy being stared at all the time."
"You're with Louis." said Zayn.
"That's not what I meant Zayn. He told me about his previous relationship with an ex of his, the one he ended about five years ago."
"Oh Jade? She broke up with him because he cheated on her with one of her best friends. She and that said friend don't talk anymore." said Sophia. I told Sophia what Louis had said to me about her. "I'm just warning you now. Be careful around him. He may be all charm and wit, but he's not the settling type. The things other women may whisper about you is because they know the kind of man Louis is. Men like that don't change for anyone. It would be a shocker if you are the one who does change Louis."
After lunch break, Louis called me into his office. I had avoided him for all of yesterday and most of today. I ignored his calls and didn't return his text messages. I walked into his office. He was sitting at his desk. "I thought about what you said the other day. I know what you're probably thinking. I won't hire you because there's nothing here for you. There's positions open here, but it's not what I want for you. You can't work here because I think I'm starting to like you. The more you work here with me, the more hard it will be for the two of us to focus on our work. I have recommended you to work for another company, but you and I will still be able to talk." Guess he had just gotten off the phone with the CEO of the company.
"I appreciate your honesty Louis."
"I still won't have anyone to take to the Gala tomorrow."
“Knowing you, I’m sure you’ll find someone.” With that being said, I walked out of the room. When Saturday came around, a box was dropped off at my apartment. It was the dress that Louis had sent over for me to wear tonight, if I was his date.
Since I had no other gown to wear, I had no choice but to put on the dress. It was a golden dress, almost made me feel like a princess. I did my hair and makeup before a knock sounded at the door. I had just slipped on my shoes and walked over to answer it. Niall stood before me wearing tuxedo.
“If only the geeky boy then knew he would have such a beautiful date now.” he smiled. I blushed at his compliment. I locked my door. Niall escorted me down to the main lobby and out to his car. He opened the passenger door for me. I thanked him and got in.
He began the drive out to the venue, which was being held at a hotel. He stopped in front of the main entrance and handed the keys to the Valet. The door was opened for me. I got out with Niall by my side. If only that geeky boy and I had spoken in 8th grade, then it would’ve increased the chances of us being together.
Niall held out his arm from me to take. I linked it with his. We entered the building and headed to the area where the Gala was being held. We arrived at the ballroom, which was already filled with people. “I bet this reminds you of Senior prom.” A waiter had approached us.
Niall took two champagne glasses and handed one to me. I thanked him and told him that the difference was that I went alone to Senior prom. “I was Prom Queen and dateless. What are the odds of that?” I asked him.
“At least share one dance with me at this beautiful event. You deserve to have a night of fun.” he smiled.
“Cheers to that.” I held up my glass and took a sip. For most of the night, I didn’t spot Ian. I wondered if he had found a date or decided to go alone. Soon we were approached by Harry, who was surprised to see that I had gone with Niall. “You never told me you knew Niall.” said Harry.
“We were old friends, who happened to live in the same area.” smiled Niall.
“Perrie's asking for you. Mind if I steal your date for a dance?” asked Harry. Niall took my empty glass from me. He whispered in my ear to save one dance for him before heading off to find Perrie. While Harry danced with me, we talked about what has been going on since the last time we had seen each other. I told him about the charity event I had gone to with Louis and the business meetings. “I was supposed to go with him tonight, but I changed my mind.” I said.
“I’m sure a lot of women flocked after him when they found out that he was going without a date. The thing is no one has seen him this entire night.” We continued to dance when our friends spotted us.
The whole gang was here, including Liam who had gone with Sophia as her date. I asked them about Liam, but they had the same response as Harry. Louis wasn’t here. This worried me. Perrie and Niall approached our group. Perrie asked me what was wrong. I didn’t answer her.
I didn’t want Niall to know what was bothering me. Though I’m sure he had an idea of what was going on. As the night went on, I couldn’t exactly have the fun that I wanted. I had enough champagne to keep me drunk. I was about to share a dance with Niall when I spotted Louis amongst the crowd of people. He was alone. I left Niall and walked over to Louis. He didn’t move from his spot. I knew he saw me.
He let me approach him. I swore that a few people were watching what was happening. Others weren’t paying attention because they were focused on enjoying the night. “I see you’ve gone and found yourself a date.” said he. “Lucky guy.”
I shook my head. “I would’ve rather spent the night with you.” I told him. He eyed me suspiciously and asked me if I was drunk. I replied to him that I was. There was nothing he could do to stop me. I reached out my hand to grab his and lead him to the dance floor.
He was refusing to dance with me, only because I wasn’t in my right mind to dance with him. I continued to pull him with me. He had no choice but let me do so. As I danced with him, I could feel eyes at my back. People were watching us. I didn’t care. It was just the two of us in the room.
By the end of the night, I was still feeling the effects of the alcohol. Louis escorted me out of the ballroom by picking me up. “Are you my knight in shining armor here to rescue me?” I asked him before passing out in his arms.
