2. Chapter 1

A/N: Outfit at top or side is Lily's outfit I made it myself :)

"Lily! Get your butt up!" I groaned after hearing my older brother yelling at me.

"I'm up see?" I replied, sitting up on my bed and staring at my brother who just rolled his eyes as he walked out of my room.

I slowly stood up and started making my way towards my closet to decide what to wear for today. Unfortunately, today is my first day at a new school. At my old school, I was always the quiet one. Some would say that I was a good girl, but really I just follow the rules due to not liking having to confront people. I'm what most would call a pleaser. Being a pleaser means that I'm always helping other people and I just don't know how to say no.

After picking out some blue skinny jeans, a pink tank top with love quotes in the shape of a heart in black, a white denim jacket, and my undergarments, I went into the bathroom to shower and get ready for school.

After getting out of the shower and drying off, I changed into my outfit for the day and brushed my teeth and put on some deodorant. Then I blow dried my hair. After doing that, I put some curling moose in it and then got to work on doing my makeup. For my makeup, I put on some light brown eye shadow, cover up, lip gloss, and mascara. After I was finished with that, I grabbed my charm bracelet, pink heart earrings, and my pink heart necklace. Once I was finished with all of that I put on my perfume, grabbed my backpack and headed downstairs to eat my breakfast and head off to school.

"Hey Lil, are you almost ready to leave?" My older brother, Logan asked. Logan is the best brother ever. He's always supportive of me and sticks up for me when I need it. My brother and I are only a year apart and are both seniors. I also have two younger twin sisters, Lexi and Lacey, who are currently five and in kindergarten. All of my siblings and I look a lot alike. We all share the same brown hair and blue eyes. My younger sisters and I are all very petite with our naturally skinny figures and short height. My brother on the other hand is tall with a muscular build.

"Yeah I guess. Let me just grab a granola bar real quick and then we can go." I said walking into the kitchen.

"Okay." My brother said walking out the door.

I grabbed my chocolate chip granola bar and ran out of the door. My brother always drives me to school and sometimes drives me back home. I got into my brother's car and we were on our way to school.

"So Lily are you nervous about starting school today?" My brother asked.

"A little." I said, still eating my granola bar. To be honest, I'm more than a little nervous, I'm terrified. I'm one of those people that can't stand it when someone doesn't like me. It makes me feel like there's something wrong with me or that I don't deserve to have people like me. I'm just nervous that I won't make any friends and will forever be the outcast.

"I can tell you're lying." My brother said, glancing over at me before looking back at the road. "It's okay Lily, you're going to make friends today. You're a likable person. Me on the other hand, I don't always get along with other people so much."

"If you really think I might make some friends today, then I might and you do to get along with other people. You're not mean you just have an attitude sometimes." I giggled.

"Yeah. I guess you're right." Logan shrugged. "But seriously Lily. don't worry about today. If anyone picks on you or anything, just let me know."

I just laughed and rolled my eyes before noticing that we had pulled into the school's parking lot. Logan parked the car and we both walked out, heading towards the front doors. As we were walking towards the front doors, I looked around at my surroundings. There were many trees in the front yard of the school and many students around too. Most of them standing in their own groups. By the the doors, there were some pink, white, red, and yellow carnation flowers.

My brother and I walked into the school and were met with the sounds of lockers opening and closing and other people yelling and talking.

"Hey Lily, do you remember where the office is?" Logan asked, turning to look at me.

"Yeah. Come on." I said walking down the hall with him following. I remember where the office is from when my mom, dad, brother, sisters, and I came to register for the school. We walked past some groups of people before walking into the office.

"Hello. How can I help you two today?" A lady who looked to be in her early twenties asked smiling brightly. She had staright dark brown shoulder length hair with chocolate brown eyes.

"Hi. My sister and I are new here and were wondering if we could have our schedules?" My brother asked.

"Oh sure! They're right here. Here ya go. If you have any questions about anything, feel free to ask me, one of the other staff, or one of the students here. As you already probably know the principal here is Principal Kane and I'm the secretary, Mrs. Barnes." Mrs. Barnes smiled.

"Okay. Thank you. I'm Lily and this is my brother Logan." I introduced. Just then, the office door opened and a guy who looked to be in his early thirties walked in.

"Hello. Are you two our new students?" The guy asked smiling. He was an average height with short dark brown hair and blue eyes.

"Yes we are." My brother replied back.

"Welcome to Riverside High School. I'm Principal Kane. It's nice to meet you two. If you ever need anything don't be afraid to ask." Principal Kane smiled.

"Okay. Thank you." I smiled back.

"You two should probably go find your lockers soon. If you're a little late to first hour, just tell your teachers that you're new and were having problems with your lockers." Principal Kane said before walking into another room that I assumed was his office.

"Let's go find our lockers." My brother smiled before walking out of the office. We walked down the hallway a little and then turned to the left and found our lockers. Luckily or maybe unluckily according to my brother, our lockers were right next to each other. We set our backpacks down and started putting our stuff into our lockers. While we were doing that, we were comparing our schedules. We figured out that we have second, third, lunch, and fifth hour together. We have seven classes, so it's comforting to know that at least someone I know, even if he is my brother, is in some of my classes.

We finished putting the last of our stuff away and got out what we needed for first hour. I have English first hour, while my brother has chemistry.

"Have fun in English Lil." My brother smirked walking away. I just rolled my eyes at him before walking towards where I thought the English room is. As I was walking, I looked around at all of the groups that the students had created and was trying to figure out which of them, if any, I could be a part of. While I was doing that, I bumped into someone.

"I'm so sorry. That was all my fault I wasn't paying attention to where I was going." I apologized, hoping that I wouldn't already make someone hate me.

"Whatever. Just watch where you're going next time." The person grumbled. Looking up, I saw the guy who I had ran into and three other guys. All four of the boys had what looked to be a bad boy style. They all had either a tattoo or a piercing and one of them had both. The one who had both piercings and tattoos also had very bright red hair. They were all very tall and wore a band shirt with black ripped skinny jeans and black combat boots. The red haired one is the one that I realized I had bumped into. I was just about to walk away when one of the other boys spoke up.

"I haven't seen you around here before. Are you new or something?" The boy with the lip ring and the blonde hair styled into a quiff and beautiful blue eyes asked.

"Yeah. Today's my first day here." I said quietly.

"Oh okay." The blonde shrugged and he and the other boys walked away. I continued walking to my English class thinking about how weird that was.

When I walked into the classroom I glanced at the clock and noticed that I had about five minutes until class starts. Looking to the front of the room, I saw the teacher sitting at her desk. She was an average height with straight medium length blonde hair and brown eyes. I walked up to her desk to introduce myself.

"What do you want?" The teacher asked sounding annoyed causing me to become nervous. I don't like it when people are mad at me.

"Oh um I'm Lily Hyland, the new girl and I was just coming to talk to you about me being new." I said shyly. My teacher raised her head up from the papers she was looking at and looked at me, giving me a quick small smile.

"Oh. Sorry about that. I'm your English teacher, Mrs. Clarke. Basically, all we're doing right now is reading and working on grammar." She said, sounding a lot nicer.

"Oh. Okay. Do you know where I can sit?" I asked.

"The only available seats are in the back row. You'd think that most people would sit in the back, but for some reason most don't." Mrs. Clarke said before looking down at her papers again.

"Okay. Well thanks for telling me." I smiled a little before walking to my seat. I sat down in the back row in the seat closest to the aisle. While I was waiting for class to start, I started playing with my charm bracelet. While I was doing that, I saw someone sit in front of me.

"Hey. Are you new? I wouldn't sit there if I were you." I heard a soft voice tell me. Looking up, I saw a girl with wavy long blonde hair and blue eyes.

"Yes. I am new. Why shouldn't I sit here? Mrs. Clarke told me these were the only seats left." I said shyly.

"Oh. Well that's where the troublemakers always sit. I guess it makes sense that Mrs. Clarke would tell you to sit there cause those are the only seats and she wouldn't want to listen to an argument. By the way my name's Aaliyah." Aaliyah smiled at me.

"Oh. I'm Lily." I smiled back. I might have actually made a friend.

"I know I don't really know you yet, but you seem nice so do you wanna sit with my friends and I during lunch today?" Aaliyah asked.

"Sure." I smiled.

"Okay." Aaliyah smiled back. "Oh. I don't know if you'll see my other friends later, but their names are Sabrina and Brooklyn. They're really nice. What's your second hour?" Aaliyah asked.

"Um... Math ew." I replied, scrunching my nose in disgust. Aaliyah laughed a little before responding.

"I agree math is horrible. Also Brooklyn has second hour with you!" Aaliyah said excitedly.

"Cool. You probably haven't met him yet, but I have an older brother and he's in Brooklyn and I's second hour too. His name is Logan." I said.

"Ooh. Is he cute?" Aaliyah asked leaning closer to me, wanting to hear about my brother.

"Is who cute?" Someone else asked. Looking towards where the voice came from I noticed the red head that I bumped into earlier.

"No one. Mind your own business Michael." Aaliyah said, rolling her eyes.

"Whatever." Michael replied, moving to where I was. When he realized I was here too his expression turned from annoyed to amused.

"Hey I know you. You're the girl who ran into me because you never pay attention to where you're going." He laughed.

"I told you I was sorry." I replied back.

"Why are you sitting back here?" Michael asked, moving to sit next to me. I thought he didn't like me. Why is he sitting by me?

"Mrs. Clarke told her to sit back here." Aaliyah responded.

"I didn't ask you." Michael glared at Aaliyah causing her to just roll her eyes and turn her attention back to me.

"So anyway Lily, before this asshole cut into our conversation, you were going to tell me if Logan is cute or not. Is he?" Aaliyah asked.

"Who's Logan?" Michael asked.

"Michael butt out." Aaliyah sounded annoyed now.

"Whatever." Michael rolled his eyes before taking his phone out.

"Well obviously I don't think he is, but at our old school, a lot of girls did like him." I answered Aaliyah.

"Ooh so he probably is?" Aaliyah asked.

"I already told you. I don't think he is. I'm his sister." I replied.

"Fine." Aaliyah huffed and then the bell rang making Aaliyah turn back around towards the front of the room.

"Alright class I'd like you to write about something fun you did this weekend for your journal." Mrs. Clarke announced. I opened my notebook and was just about to start writing when a voice interrupted me.

"I didn't know you have a brother. Is he younger?" Michael asked. I turned to look at him finding him already looking at me, waiting for my answer.

"Um yeah I do. He's my older brother by a year so he's also a senior." I said going back to start writing when I got interrupted again.

"Are you actually doing the journal?" Michael asked sounding disgusted.

"Yeah. What's so bad about that?" I asked confused.

"Gross. You're not supposed to do your work. Talk to me instead I'm bored."

"Michael. I'm sorry but I don't want to get in trouble on my first day." I said going back to my journal entry. I'm so confused I thought he hated me but now he wants to talk to me? I heard Michael sigh and saw him start texting someone on his phone.

"Michael I don't want to make you mad, but Mrs. Clarke might take your phone away if she sees that you're on it." I warned.

"That's funny. You think she can take my phone away and if I get a detention I just won't go." Michael shrugged.

"Would you two shut up I'm trying to write here!" Aaliyah said annoyed.

"Sorry Aaliyah." I said.

"It's fine Lily. Michael stop trying to get my new best friend in trouble." Aaliyah sighed.

"I have no idea what you're talking about." Michael replied still looking at his phone.

"Okay class! I think that's enough time to work on your journals. Now we're going to start our lesson for today. Make sure you pay attention because you will be taking a test on this tomorrow. I know it's only a day before but I promise that if you take good notes and study them then you will have nothing to worry about." Mrs. Clarke said standing at the front of the room. The classroom was filled with groans until Mrs. Clarke started speaking again.

"That's enough you're here to learn not have fun!" She scolded.

"Yes because we all wake up every morning and think wow I can't wait to go to school and learn!" Michael said sarcastically.

"I didn't ask for a reply Mr. Clifford" Mrs. Clarke was obviously mad now. Michael just shrugged and Mrs. Clarke thankfully went back to talking about what we were doing today. Finally the bell rang and everyone was quick to leave. Almost everyone was out of the room except Aaliyah, Michael, and I.

"Hey Lily I'll show you to your second class." Aaliyah smiled.

"Okay thanks." I smiled back and we started walking out of the room.

"Wait! What's your second class I want to make sure that I'm not it." Michael said catching up to us.

"I have math next." I said and Michael smiled before cheering.

"Good. I don't." Michael said and then walked out of the room.

"What's his problem?" I asked looking at Aaliyah who looked like this happens all the time.

"Nothing. He's always like that." She answered.

"Why?" I asked as we walked to my locker.

"I don't know. I guess it's just because he's one of the badboys."
