21. Chapter Twenty One
RECAP:.....now when I said was making breakfast, I meant you are helping."
I grabbed a spatula. "I guess we should get started then."
Druid's Point of View
The food was finished and the plates were all but devoured; Mulan, Kit and Xavier had all made a mess. I was about to start cleaning up when my phone rang in my pocket. The number read unmarked but I knew who it was already.
"Get to the Millbrae Terminal, I'll be sitting on a bench under the 8th and 7th, bring a tan trench coat, cleaning supplies, fedora and a pomegranate, you have 42 minutes." The line hung up but I already knew the voice.
I looked down at my call log and saw that the number had already been wiped clean from my domain screen. He can be so infuriating. I looked over at the clock and realized it takes like 28 minutes to get to the station and 4 to get through the terminal. That means I have 10 minutes to get dressed and take a shower, because in his mind women should have a high standard of hygiene.
"Xavier.." I said
He looked up from playing candy crush. "I'll be back in a hour. I have to go pick up something."
"Alright, do you want me to go with?"
"NO! I mean I'm already late as it is." He gave me a questionable okay, and I headed up the stairs to shower.
I threw on some jogging pants and a varsity jacket. I bent down in the bathroom and removed a long strip of tile to reveal a keypad. I typed in the pass coded and the ceiling opened up. It had a gun rack, money, clothes and passports in it. I took out the fedora, and trenchcoat closed it up just in time before Xavier walked in. I hurried up and threw it in a duffle bag.
"You sure you have to go, you seem a little tense."
"Yea, I'll be fine though." I kissed him on the nose. "I'll see you later." on my way out I grabbed a pomegranate from the refrigerator.
There was an old woman trying to get down the steps on front of me, which cost me two minutes in the terminal. I had to run the rest of the way, it's a good thing I wore yoga pants. I saw him sitting on the bench with a newspaper. He was about to leave when I sat next to him pretending to tie my shoe.
"它是安全的" I said retying my shoes
Is it safe
"追你擔心太多" He swiped his nose
Zhui you fear much
"我為什麼在這裡" I said sitting up slowly
Why am I here
"Did you drive here?" He said
"Of course not, I switched Taxi's twice and parked my car a few blocks from the house."
You did well, its time.
He rose from his seat and got on the next train, I got on the same car as him but sat in the opposite direction of the car. Every time we met it was spontaneous and in public. He picked the time and the place and I never knew till the exact moment. And if I was a second late he'd leave. As the train took on more passengers I kicked the duffle bag over to him and he put on the fedora and the coat. Once we reached Amtrak Station, he stepped out and caught a cab 4 blocks from the nearest street camera and went to Saint Mary's, a cemetery.
The meter was only $25.43, but he paid the guy a $200 tip "We were never here."
"Are we here to visit mother?"
"No, were just going to clean another family grave." He scolded...his voice was dripping in sarcasm
"Whatever, father" I said not really paying attention to anything any more.
"Watch your step, Zhui."
"What,..Ahhh!" I fell in a little ditch. "God dammit that hurt."
I heard him laughing as I climbed out of the ditch. "Stop laughing, your lucky I didn't twist my ankle."
"And your lucky, your mother Rose, didn't see that."
