A few moments before the war
"Elaine! I'm here!" I announced, climbing into my old tree house that swayed in the wind. It was her fifteenth birthday that day.
"You don't say!" Elaine said, pulling me up into the tree house.
"Dang I'm cold..." I complained. It was about 30 degrees that night.
"You're always cold! It's 30 degrees out! You'll be fine you big baby!" Elaine scolded, as if she was going to smack me upside the head.
I always loved Elaine. From her long, strawberry blonde hair, to her ice blue eyes, to her small, sharp nose. I loved her strong personality, and how she wasn't afraid to yell at anyone. My love for her is what made me invite her to the tree house on her birthday. I was about to land my first kiss on her lips.
"Elaine..." I said softly, brushing a few strands of hair behind her ear.
"Yes..?" She asked in the same tone, gazing into my eyes.
I leaned in to kiss her, but before I could, we heard a giant boom, then the tree house got knocked over, and I blacked out. When I woke up, I looked around to see drones, killing relentlessly, then Elaine, lying unconscious under some debris.
"ELAINE!" I shouted, "ELAINE!!!!"
Soon enough I was being dragged away by a tall, dark haired boy. Elaine started to fade from my sight, still unconscious, under I was safe where he dragged me, but I was still concerned for Elaine.
"ELAINE!!! I DIDN'T GET TO SAY GOODBYE TO ELAINE!!! YOU SHOULD HAVE SAVED THE ONE I LOVED!!!" I shouted at the boy who saved me.
"Kid, you're too young to have a lover. Chill."
"SHE COULD BE DEAD!!! HOW ARE YOU SO CALM?!?!"
"She probably is dead by now. There's no point in going back. How old are you anyways?"
"I'm 15..." I mumbled, and started screaming at him once again. "BUT THAT ISN'T IMPORTANT!!! YOU SHOULD HAVE SAVED HER!! NOT ME!!!"
I screamed and cried furiously, as if a piece of me shattered inside, as if there was no point in living, until I eventually fell asleep.
That was the last normal day of my life, and it still plays back in my mind, over and over again, until I start to cry or go mad.
