Kate Smithson isn't a normal eleven year-old. She's a Metamorphagus, has photographic memory, and is in a wheelchair due to an accident that claimed her ability to walk and her family's lives. How will she cope with loss, bullying, friendship, fights, and being a foster child at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry?

14. The Marauder's Map

First thing in the morning, Kate pulled out a pair of slim black tights, a tight red shirt that hugged her figure, and pulled her lilac hair back into a ponytail. Putting on her red trainers, she picked out some black earrings. When Kate was done, she went downstairs to the common room and saw the boys there.

Fred and George were playing Exploding Snap and Lee was watching. They were all wearing red colors: orange pants, red shirts, and black shoes. There was an egg carton on the couch, and Kate suspected that they were the dung/paint balls. They looked up and and Fred muttered, "Whoa."

Kate grinned, a blush creeping up her cheeks and her hair slowly turning pink, as if someone was gradually dying her hair. The twins mischievously grinned, and Lee said, "So what's the plan, Miss So Gorgeous That She Makes Me Want to Drool?"

Kate's hair turned a blinding red, and she snapped her fingers. Red birds flew out of her red hair and started attacking Lee. He yelled, "I yield! I yield! I'm sorry!" Fred and George were having a laughing fit. She snapped her fingers again and the birds disappeared into a pile of red feathers.

Kate conjured a hand-drawn map of the school and pointed to places with her wand as she said, "The plan, Mister Dimwit, is that you boys will take the bombs and set them off on the Cardinal Directions of the school {she pointed to the places}, but inside to blend with the walls. You won't set them off North {she pointed to a specific spot} because that's where Filch's office is. Filch will try to catch you as you move toward the Great Hall {she moved her wand from the points inward}. You will set off bombs by the class rooms and dormitories, and that is fifteen places total {little explosions went at the places}.

"We have thirty bombs, so you'll each take five to cover half the bombs. Use them only at the targets. While you do that, I'll go dog and run to Filch's office, take something out of the specific drawer, and blow a bomb. You guys will run to the broom closet by the Great Hall, and I'll meet you there and perform an invisible spell. I'll change my clothes to make it look like I'm just going along and guard the broom closet, pretending to be getting something out of my bag, when I'll actually guard the closet."

George said, "Wow. That's a good plan. Let's do this."

Kate passed out the bombs and went dog, taking her bag with her. The boys ran, and before she knew it, there were screams and people running from almost all directions with color-changing paint on them. Filch ran out of his office, and that was Kate's cue. She ran into his disheveled office, and found the drawer she was looking for. Kate pulled out only one piece of parchment because she heard Filch's shouts coming quickly.

She set the bomb and ran out. Kate carefully turned human and went to the broom closet. She saw the boys slip in there, and when she opened the door, she cast a disillusion charm on them and started to pretend trying to find something in her bag.

Filch came up to her and hissed, "You. You're coming with me to the Headmaster."

Kate shouted, "What?! How could I do that?!"

He grimaced and said, "Yea right. Hurry up!"

Filch dragged her to a place with two gargoyles and grouchily uttered, "Every-Flavored Beans." He put her on the steps and they started moving; he stepped on behind her. When they got up, he forcefully pushed her up to a desk where Dumbledore sat.

Kate's white hair showed Dumbledore exactly how she felt. He said, "What seems to be the problem, Argus?"

Filch gruffly said, "She was found outside the Great Hall, not covered in paint, so she seems to be one of the prime suspects."

"And what happened with said paint and suspects?" Dumbledore calmly insisted.

Filch spat, "Some students who have to be detained blew Multi-Colored Dung/Paint Bombs around the school, and I found a drawer open in my office and a bomb off. Smithson didn't have paint on her, and I had seen her in the halls right before it happened."

Dumbledore turned to Kate and asked, "Miss Smithson, did you set of any of those paint bombs?"

 "I didn't," Kate quickly lied.

Dumbledore looked to Filch and said, "Argus, you've heard her. She didn't set off any of those bombs. Now, can you leave us? I must speak to Kate alone about her schedule." Filch left, grumbling about loss of strictness. When he was gone, Dumbledore gave her a knowing look and determinedly said, "What did you do and why did you do it?"

Kate sighed and confessed, "I planned the heist and had Fred, George, and Lee put the bombs off while I went to Filch's office and took something from a specific drawer. My dad wanted me to do it. What gave it away?!"

Dumbledore chuckled. "Your hair has been turning a black since you lied." Kate cussed under her breath. He continued, "So that'll be five points from each of you and a detention with Professor McGonagall for two days. Where are they."

 "In a broom closet."

"And how did Mr. Filch not find them?"

"What if I don't tell you?"

"Give me your wand." She begrudgingly passed him her wand and he muttered, "Prior Incantium." From the tip of her wand, three forms came out. The forms were Fred, George, and Lee, and they slowly disappeared. Dumbledore said, "Disillusion charm. Now what did you take?"

Kate dug in her bag and pulled out the parchment. She hadn't even looked at it before. She said, "I don't exactly know! It just looks like a pretty big piece of parchment!" Kate passed it to him and he examined it carefully.

He finally said, "It looks safe to me. You may take it, but heed my warning. You may go."

She quickly left quickly and found the boys at the bottom of the stairs. Fred said, "What happened?!"

Kate sighed and uttered, "He made me confess, took twenty points total, and gave us all two detentions with McGonagall. But besides all that, he let us off!"

They all gave a whoop, and George said, "So what'd ya take?"

Kate said, "I don't know what it is, but let's get some breakfast first, then we'll go figure out." The quickly wolfed down food and ran to Gryffindor Tower. When they got there, everybody was still at breakfast, so the common room was empty. She laid it out on the table and they pored over it, but they didn't find anything. Kate said, "I think I know."

"If this was in the drawer that said 'Confiscated and Highly Dangerous', that means that one, it had to be taken from a student or students, and I haven't ever seen anything like this before, so two, It has to be an original piece, and three, these students are troublemakers, so the thing to make it open has something to do with no good."

    Lee says, "Sounds right."

Kate pointed her wand to the parchment and said, "I'm up to no good." The parchment gave a flicker of life. They all gasped. Kate exclaimed, "We must be close!" She touched it again and said, "I...swear I'm up to no good?" It gave a bigger flicker.

Fred muttered, "We need something else. Oh! What if you add solemn?"

Kate pointed her wand and said, "I solemnly swear that I'm up to no good." The map came to life! The front said:

'Messers Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs are proud to present THE MARAUDER'S MAP'

Kate mumbled, "Marauder? Marauder means troublemaker, so this is a map for troublemakers!"

George spread it out and gasped. "This is a map of Hogwarts! shows everyone! Bloody hell! It shows secret passages." They all pored over it and Kate quickly memorized it, but she knew that they would need the map to see where people were.

Kate, hair a bright purple, grinned and said, "Boys, let's plan some pranks."
