Kate shut her trunk. She couldn't believe that her first year at Hogwarts was already over. They'd pranked, gone to detention (like, A LOT), finished (or Kate corrected) homework, did End of the Year exams, and now they packed all of their stuff, just waiting for the next year to come.
Kennedy hugged Kate and said, "Now, don't think I'll forget you when your birthday comes around, do you!"
Kate smiled broadly and said, "I won't either." Their birthdays were on the same day: June 30th. Kate hugged Angie and Alicia and went down to meet Karley and Lily Brown. They had decided to spend time together before the End-of-Term Feast. When Kate rolled through the Portrait Hole, she saw them right outside. They went along, talking and laughing.
At five to six, Lily told Kate, "Sorry, but we have to get back to Ravenclaw Tower. Write to us every day."
Kate exclaimed, "Of course! If you do, too!" Kate rolled quickly back to the Portrait Hole, where the Gryffindors were filing out of Gryffindor Tower to go to the Feast. She found the girls and went along with them, Kennedy pushing her. When they arrived at the Great Hall, there were Slytherin hangings all around.
Kate groaned; Slytherin had won the House Cup. They all sat down (except for Kate; she was wheeled up to the table) and looked to Dumbledore, who started his speech as soon as everyone was in the hall, student and teacher alike.
"Thank you, students, teachers, and ghosts for the most wonderful year. As you can see, even though there was a drastic decrease at the end of the first term," Crabbe shot a glare at Kate, "Slytherin has managed to snatch the House Cup. The scores go as follows: Slytherin has won with 450 points. Gryffindor in second with 375 points. Ravenclaw in a close third with 350 points, and Hufflepuff in fourth with 315 points. Now, let us celebrate this victory with a great feast!"
Food appeared and they ate, talking for the last time they'll all be together until next year. Dumbledore stood up again right as the plates cleared and stretched his arms wide, saying, "I will see you next year, for you should never mourn of the rain, when sunshine will be presented tomorrow. Pip pip."
Students filed out of the Great Hall, towards the Hogwarts Express. Kate sat in a compartment that had Karley, Lily, Angie, Alicia, and Kennedy. They waved at the teachers as they slowly traveled in the direction of London.
