I watched as Lexi collapsed on to the floor, in front of me. I ran to the front of the limo to tell the driver to drive us to the nearest hospital.
Luke had pulled Lexi into his arms and was cradling her against his chest. I gritted my teeth together, that should've been me, but I needed to focus on the more pressing issue at hand. Lexi. She had looked sick for most of the plane ride out to New York. I had thought that it was just motion sickness, but now this. I couldn't figure out what was wrong with her and it was killing me. If I couldn't figure out what was wrong with her, how was supposed to help her?
Luke looked over at me. "How much has she eaten in the last few days?"
"I don't know. Why?" I asked thinking he might be onto something.
"At first I thought it might just be low blood sugar or dehydration, but then I noticed this when I was trying to find a pulse." He explained as he held up her wrist. It was small, I had noticed that before, but as he rolled up the sleeve of her sweatshirt I noticed black tally marks up and down her arm. I counted about 75 of them.
"That's how many days she's gone without food. Lexi's anorexic, mate." Luke explained.
"No that's impossible. I've seen her eat. There has to be some other explanation."
"Ashton, look at her. She's as light as a feather and you can feel her ribs through her shirt." Luke said as he placed my hand on her chest.
I yanked my hand away.
"NO!" I yelled as I rammed my fist into the door of the car and the limo skidded to a halt.
"Aston...?" I heard Lexi breath as I quickly turned around to face her.
"Hey. Hey Lex. You're gonna be alright. Okay?" I whispered and kissed her forehead.
She looked up into my eyes and I saw her fighting back tears.
"Luke's right.." She breathed before passing out again.
