The night of homecoming and I'm at home watching TV. I still have another three years but I'm sitting bored out of my mind. I was watching Grey's Anatomy and loved this show but I'm getting sick of it right now.
My cousin Tracy comes in the room and she has a perked up smile. I hated when she smiled like that. It usually meant that she did something or she's about to do something. She was eleven and I can't stand her. I had to babysit tonight.
"What do you want?" I finally give her the attention she wanted and she jumps on the couch. I let out a frustration groan and push her back down on the couch. She crossed her arms and pouted. I'm sorry but you're eleven, it's not cute anymore.
"Mary, I'm hungry." She gets in my face and starts laughing. I push her away and ignore her by watching my show. "Mary please." She begged and whined. I'm not babysitting this girl anymore.
"If I do will you shut up?" I snapped and my mom walks in the door seeing me yelling at her. She starts crying and my mom looks at me like I convicted a felony. My mom goes up to her and comforts her. You have to be kidding me!
"I asked Mary for some food and she hit me." She cried like a big baby. Why do little kids have to lie? I know it's for the sympathy but she's freaking eleven. Grow up!
"I'll fix you some food and Mary you're grounded for a week. Hand me your phone." My mom held out her hand and I gave her my phone. She went into the kitchen and I rolled my eyes. Tracy gives me a satisfaction look and she went into the kitchen with Mom.
I decided to take a shower so I went to my room and grabbed my Hello Kitty pajamas and headed there. After my shower, I went into the kitchen where Tracy was eating some leftover spaghetti. I hate leftovers unless we have nothing else to eat, it's just dried out and gross.
"I hate you." I stare at her while I left the kitchen and my mom was on the couch. I'm going to get even in more trouble.
"Aunt Jessica, Mary told me she hated me." She whined but Mom waved her hand at her to make her shut up. Thank god she was into her TV show.
I was eating my Hello Kitty Popsicle. Yes, I have an Hello Kitty obsession but it's not my fault. It started when one of my old friends showed me one of her Hello Kitty stuffed toy and I couldn't stop playing with it. I don't know why but it was like I had some connection with it. Weird. I know. But that's how it all started.
"Mary, what do you want for your birthday?" My mom looked at me after her show went to commercial. I start to think that I would want something Hello Kitty but what could be Hello Kitty that I don't have. I have the bedspread, the wallpaper and the white carpet to go with it. A backpack! I want a Hello Kitty backpack.
"A Hello Kitty backpack." I sucked on my popsicle.
"Okay when's your party?" My mom kept looking at the TV to make sure her show doesn't come back on without her knowing.
"I was thinking mayb....." my mom interrupted me by shushing me and her show came back on. Well I could have the party this Friday or the next. But I want it on a Friday, if I had something it had to be on a Friday, I don't know why.
I went to put my popsicle stick in the trash and I heard a bang on the door. Like a zombie. I signaled my mom that I would get it and I see that it's Penelope and Emma. Emma was drunk off her ass, she kept grabbing my arm and Penelope is having a hard time keeping her up. They both were prettied up with their makeup and hair done. I wish that I went to homecoming.
"I'm sorry, Mary if it's late but Emma said she wanted to see you and she wouldn't shut up." Penelope whined and I can see Jordan in the car waiting patiently. I wonder if Jordan finally popped the question to Penelope like he said he would. "She got a little tipsy at the after party." She tried to keep Emma from falling but Emma passed out. I tried not to laugh but I couldn't help but to.
"It's fine, she can stay the night." I tell Penelope and she leaves to get in the car with Jordan. How am I going to get Emma off this damn floor? I drag her feet away from the door and got her no further than the living room. Which is not far from my front door.
"Mary why is Emma on the floor?" My mom was into her TV show but looking at Emma.
"Because she's an idiot." I said struggling to get her into my room so I can lay her down.
"Don't call your friends idiots." She told me.
"Yes ma'am." I agreed and picked Emma up and throw her over my shoulder. Worst idea ever.
When I finally get her on my futon, I decided to call it a night but before I do, I put my trash can right by her. Saves me having to clean up the beer mess off my carpet that I worked six months to get. I put my hair in a very low ponytail and went to bad.
You're something else, Emma Farewell.
