"Mary, get your behind out of this bed!" Emma shouted, jumping on top of me. I'm conscious, I'm just not exactly out of bed yet. There's a difference. Why is she even here?
Emma at long last stops when I push her on the side of me and gets comfy."So you never reply to my text. What happened with your hottie?"
"Well, we're officially dating," I admitted, taking a gander at her to see her face is into one major smile. She woke me up at seven-thirty in the morning to find that out which I don't see why she couldn't simply message me. I could've had a fantasy of Caleb and me getting married or something. Maleb. I grin at that cute shipping name. The ship has sailed, but my mother doesn't exactly know me and Caleb are even on the ship so I'm going to have to do something about her. I told her that he's going for dinner and that I like him but not that we were officially a couple. We can only hope for the best.
"Maleb is finally happening!" she squealed, applauding.
Emma pulls my arm until I fall on the floor and now my ass is going to have a huge yellow bruise. It's fortunate that I have carpet, however regardless it still hurts like hell-I couldn't imagine myself with hardwood floor. I yank my arm far from Emma and get myself up.
"Your mother is making cinnamon sticks," Emma said, rubbing her stomach in a circular motion.
I didn't think my mom would be up this early. I check my phone as I walk to the kitchen, seeing Caleb messaged me. I chose to simply disregard it until after breakfast and put it my pocket of my pajamas. My mom puts our plates of cinnamon sticks before us and I began to eat them down rapidly. At this moment, I most likely have a blend of cinnamon and syrup all over my face.
I pick me and Emma's plate to place them in the sink in the wake of destroying my breakfast.
"I was thinking perhaps we can go shopping. You know, since Caleb is coming over this evening," Emma suggested, raising one eyebrow. How did she even know that Caleb was coming over? My mother probably. "You're going to look so cute." Emma said, winking at me. When she says cute-she actually means hot, however my mom is right there. My mom believes that nobody is hot at my age, which I can see why she believes that.
"Fine. Let me get ready."
I went into my room with Emma behind me and she lays on my bed with her eyes closed. I brush out my messy hair and put on a simple, white tank top with some jean shorts and converse. As I go through my hair one more time, I hear a car horn, which made me jump.I went into my room with Emma behind me and she lays on my bed with her eyes shut. I brush out my messy hair and put on a simple, white tank top with some jeans and converse. As I go through my hair once again, I hear a car horn which makes me jump.
"Penelope is here!" Emma announced, pulling my arm to my driveway before I can tell my mother goodbye.
Luckily, I was smart enough to put my phone in my back pocket when I first got into my room. Speaking of my phone, I just remembered that I forgot to respond to Caleb's text. I pull my phone out, seeing the same text message still sitting there.
Caleb: Hey babe;) What did you want to tell me?
Me: We're having dinner at my mother's tonight. Hope to see you there:)
Penelope parks in the Never Ending Style parking lot. Doesn't this clothing store bring back memories? When I brought Emma here the day the day after homecoming to get over her terrible hangover and I met Roy. It's amazing how one little bump into somebody could turn your life into a soap opera.
"Oh my gosh! I'm so sor..." I was entranced by the magnificence of this guy. He had the most beautiful locks of blonde hair and he had the most delightful green eyes. "I'm sorry." I interfered with myself before he supposes I'm a creep.
"It's fine. I wasn't paying attention anyway." He laughed. His grin was the absolute best thing ever. It can make a sunny day on a Category five hurricane.
"Well I'm sorry about this, I have to go find my friend." I attempted to leave before it got to be awkward before long.
"Hey maybe we can hangout sometime." He pulled on my arm and he licked his lips. I become flushed right away. My face most likely resembled a major tomato.
"Sure, sounds great." I grinned and went to discover Emma. I never seen somebody so ravishing. Particularly around this little town. I can hardly wait to tell Emma about him.
End of Flashback
I get out the car and Emma is trying to rush me into the store by holding the door for us then dragging me to the dresses by putting pressure on my back. She hauls out a really short dark red dress that most likely wouldn't go past my knees.
"You already have the heels for it. It's perfect," Emma said, holding the dress against my body and I was right. From just holding it against me it doesn't go below my mid-thigh and my mother will never approve.
"No, Emma thats slutty. Put it back." I demanded her.
"Put it back!"
Emma made me try on this dark, elegant sleeveless crochet, knit tank top that showed my stomach a tad bit and some dark crochet trim lace mini shorts to go with it. I like the outfit yet my mom didn't give me any cash to purchase anything. Darn it. I leave the changing room to show Emma my outfit and she covers her mouth with her hands.
"I love it! You have to get it." Emma squealed, playing with my outfit. I see Penelope going through some dresses and she has some clothes in her hand-waiting to be bought.
"I love it too but I have no money." Kinda felt pointless coming here with no money but its not really my fault. Emma rushed me out the door before I can ask my mom for some.
"Don't worry I got it. I have a job now."
My jaw dropped when I heard her say that. She's not by any means fifteen yet, not until December and she hasn't even taken drivers Ed. I don't understand-I thought you must be no less than sixteen to apply for jobs.
"I work at the cafe. I'll explain later just let me buy the outfit." Emma whined.
I nod and went back into the dressing room to change back into my normal clothes.
I can't believe that Emma works at the cafe. She gets to see the hotties all the time during the summer and that's probably why she even applied for the job. What I don't understand is how she got the job? Maybe the boss is a perv and decided to give her the job because she's pretty. Emma is extremely gorgeous and I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case.
I shake the thought out of my head, grabbing the clothes that Emma is going to buy for me. Emma is waiting for me by the cash register and I see Penelope already bought her stuff. I start to walk over there and I bump into someone and knock the stuff out of their hands.
"I'm sorry," I chuckled nervously and pick their stuff up for them. He had blonde that resembled the same color as Rapunzel before she cuts it off. He also had those delightful green eyes that will make you fall in love instantly. Roy. What is he doing here?
I hand him his stuff while he smiles at me like he use to to make me melt inside but not anymore.
"Roy. Come on I saw some cute dresses," some bleach blonde girl came up to him, putting her hand on his chest.
I just walk away before she starts to either ask questions or catch an attitude and I'm going to have to punch her.
"Well. that was awkward." Emma teased.
"Nah," I shrugged, putting my outfit on the check out.
Emma pulls out her credit card once the cash register tells Emma her total. I want a credit card. She slides it on the little machine while the woman puts my outfit in a bag and gave it to me. We leave the store when Emma returns her card to her back pocket. My phone vibrates when I get into Penelope's car and it's Caleb.
Caleb: But your mother doesn't like me :/
Me: She will, I promise.
Maybe I lied a little, but it was the only way to bring his butt over tonight and I just bought an outfit for him which means a lot. As soon as I put my phone on my lap, Caleb responds to my text.
Caleb: Fine. For you :*
His response warms my heart and makes me smile cheek to cheek. I put my phone on my lap and leaned back in my seat until Penelope arrives at my house. Emma is moving her head side to side-humming something that sounds like Taylor Swift. The only reason I know that is because every time in sixth grade, she would play her albums over and over again. The only songs I really know are Teardrops on my Guitar and Back to December.
After Penelope drives through rush hour, she finally arrives at my house and Emma jumps out of the car. Emma kept begging and whining until I let her do my makeup. She suggested me a smoky eye look, but I told her that I wanted to look pretty and not like I got into a fight.
Emma follows me into my room and throws me my outfit which makes me flinch. I put on my shirt and the shorts, then I start to run my fingers through my hair. Emma quickly sits me down in front of my dresser and thinking about what she's going to do. I kinda want to do a braid since I haven't really practiced, but I'm going to have to wear what Emma gives me. It's a best friend rule.
"Let's do a little side messy braid since your just going to have dinner over here. And little bit of mascara will do just find." Emma mumbled, holding my chin in her thumb. That's a relief. I thought she was going to try to do something exotic.
Emma gets behind me and pulls all my hair in the back of me and she starts brushing it. After brushing it, she runs her fingers through my hair a couple of times before she starts the actual braid. I can feel her putting every part of my hair on top of each other-forming the braid. When she was finished, she quickly jogs in front of me to pull out bangs a little bit. She checks my hair one more time before she starts applying the mascara. She opens the mascara tube and starts rubbing the wet brush against my lashes and it was so hard not to blink.
"I'm done," Emma said, closing the mascara tube and puts it back on the dresser. She turns me around in my chair for me to see what I look like. I love it. The braid suits my face very well and the little mascara makes me feel so much prettier. "Well what do you think?"
"I love it. Thanks." I said, admiring the neatness of my braid.
"Well, all you need to do is wait for your somewhat hot boyfriend to arrive," Emma teased.
I laugh at Emma's comeback then my phone vibrated in my back pocket.
Caleb: I'll be there in a few, babe;)
I'm helping my mother in the kitchen waiting for Caleb to get here and he told me he would be here in a few. Tonight for dinner we're having some gumbo with cornbread dressing and my mother's famous brownies for dessert! But I had to force her to make them.
I put the eggs and flour in the mix and start mixing it with the big spoon, then my mother hands me the melt chocolate and coconut oil. I get the biggest urge to taste the coconut oil so I stick my finger slightly in the small bowl and stick the finger touches my taste buds. My face cringes when I realize it has a strong flavor and I can taste a bit of coconut in there. I officially hate coconuts now. As I put the coconut oil in the brownie mix; the doorbell rings which put an instant smile on my face.
I answer the door to see Caleb with a huge batch of daisies in his hand and the biggest grin that I've ever seen on his face. I gesture him to come in and I take the flowers from him and put it in the vase on the dinner table.
"Hello, Mrs. Fall, how are you doing this evening?" he asked politely, putting his hands in his front pockets while I put my arm through his.
"Good." my mother replied, giving him a fake smile. "Mary, if you would put the brownies in the oven and we'll get dinner started."
She ignores Caleb's existence.
I remove my arm from Caleb's and does exactly what she said after mixing the ingredients together. I turn the knob on the oven to 325 degrees so that it wouldn't harden around the corners and meet mom and Caleb at the dinner table. Mom pours gumbo into my bowl as I grab myself a piece of cornbread to put on the side of my plate. My mother grabs herself a plate and bowl and sits herself down in silence. This dinner is going to be awkward.
We finish our dinner in silence. Seriously my mother or Caleb didn't say anything and my mother usually has a mouthful of words to say.
"So Caleb, do you want to tell me why you think you're good enough for my daughter?" my mother asked, slamming her plate in the sink which makes me jump. This is most likely not to end well. "I'm pretty sure that you've played plenty of girls but you're not going to screw my daughter over."
"Well, Mrs. Fall, I don't think I'm good enough for her," Caleb said, side hugging me. “She's honestly too good for me but I'm glad she gave me a chance. I'm going to treat your daughter with respect and only respect and I hope you give me a chance like Mary did.”
"Please mom. I really like him and I wish you would just accept that we like each other. He makes me happy I mean isn't that what matters?" I begged.
She breaths heavily, thinking about whether she should kill Caleb or let him live. Please don't kill him. He's too beautiful to die young.
"And if he does something wrong then I give you the right to kill him." I blurted out.
She chuckled. "I guess so. All right, y'all can date."
I jump up, kissing Caleb while my mother goes into her room. We start pecking each other repetitively.
"I love you, my little crazy train." Caleb said, pecking my lips.
"I love you too, my sweet child o' mine." I grinned, wrapping my arms around his neck and start to make out with him.
As soon as I start tasting his minty lip, the oven goes off which makes us both jump.
My brownies are done!
