I'm in second hour, and Caleb is eyeing me like a lion would be eyeing a caribou, but thankfully I have Violet sitting right next to me. So if he does something or he tries to come over here, Violet will cuss him out or do something. She already hates him for breaking up with Penelope for Natasha then breaking up with me then asking me to be 'friends with benefits'.
Caleb gets up from his chair and Violet sits up straight while I'm sitting here waiting for the fun to begin.
"Hey," he said in a smooth voice.
He pulls out a chair right in front of me, sitting in it backwards.
I look over my shoulder to see Violet already pissed of his existence, then look back at Caleb with his sandy blond hair and his sage green eyes.
"How's your day going?" he questioned, putting his hand over mine. Violet is pretending to read a magazine. I can tell because she keeps looking at us then at the magazine, then at us again, she's 'reading' Cosmopolitan magazine. I don't really like the magazine for mainly the profanity, I rip the perfume and cologne samples out of there and that's about it.
Caleb starts to intertwine his hand with mine. Don't get me wrong, I miss the feeling of his hand with mine. I like the warm feeling of it, but he broke with me and he shouldn't make me feel like this, all sad. He's trying to make me feel guilty, but I'm not going to let him get to me.
"Baby I'm sorry, please come back to me." he begged, giving me his puppy dog face, which was cute as hell but I'm not that easy to crack.
I jerk my hand from him and cross my arms, looking at the white board in the front.
"Please I miss you, sweetie pie," he said, trying to capture my attention away from the board.
I look at him. That's the cutest thing he said ever and I blush a little at that. I can't fall for him again. He doesn't really like me, he just wants one thing and it's not my existence for an actual relationship.
"Mary, already has a boyfriend," Violet lied. My face goes a little red because I know exactly who she's going to say. "His name is Roy."
Caleb clenches his fist at that name then, looking at me to assure. I forgot that Caleb doesn't like Roy for being at my house that one time.
"That's right. We just started dating," I assured.
He looks a little embarrassed and his face flushed bright pink. He's cute when he blushes and I smile at it without even thinking about it. "Our first date is today at the cafe after school." I lied, covering my mouth with my hands.
He nods and Violet is enjoying what she started. Why did I have to tell him that? I guess I got a little caught up in the lie and told him where we were going to be hanging out today.
"I don't believe you so I'll go to the cafe to make sure it's real. And if isn't then you're mine, Mary Fall,"
I flinch a little at that when bangs his hand on the desk.
Caleb gets up, pushing the chair under the desk.
I look at Violet and she gives that um look while filing her nails. I lay my head on the desk. How am I going to convince Roy to be my pretend boyfriend? Especially if I don't know him that well. And to think that I was going to use this perfect opportunity to get to know him better.
"I'm sorry," Violet apologized, patting her hand on my back
She removes her hand from my back, continue to file her nails.
I'm staring at the clock, hoping the bell would just ring already, I need some Emma advice on this and what I should do. Should I go through with this? If I don't then Caleb would know that I lied and he'll never leave me alone. I don't think I've had actual feelings for him. I only went out with him because he kissed me and we claim to be dating. So I don't really consider him a real boyfriend even though it was nice to be his girlfriend for a little while.
The bell rings, which interrupts my thoughts. I throw my backpack over my shoulder and leave the classroom with Violet.
"So are you really going to go through with this?" Violet asked, checking to see if Caleb is in sight.
Penelope meets up with us with Emma behind her. Emma is just in time for my crisis. Thankfully.
"Violet texted us saying there was an emergency," Penelope sighed, showing her text and it saids something major just happened. Meet me and Mary after the bell. I think Violet might have exaggerated a bit much in her text. Violet made it sound like someone got into a street fight or something.
"Mary got her self into a fake date so Caleb would leave her alone but Caleb is going to be watching her to make sure it's real," Violet exaggerated, air quoting real.
Emma gasped with her hand over her mouth.
"And now Mary has to convince Roy to be her pretend boyfriend." Violet explained.
Penelope gets in between Violet and I. Penelope puts her arm around me in a friendly way and Emma intertwine her arm with mine.
"I want all the details," Penelope said, sounding like Emma. Now I know where Emma gets it from.
I start to explain everything that happened from the beginning of class to the end and Penelope looks at Violet then laughs at her. Emma is trying to think of something, I can tell because she tilts her head to the side with her hand cuffing her chin. She better be thinking about this situation and not some hot football player.
"Just ask Roy. He's not going to have a problem with it especially if he has a crush on you," Emma sang.
I just roll my eyes, ignoring her theory about Roy having a crush on me. If he has a crush on me, I think I would know so I don't think he does which means he probably doesn't.
"Where's y'all date?" Emma wondered.
"At the cafe," I responded
"We can go there if you want. To make sure that you're convincing Caleb," Emma suggested. It wouldn't be a bad idea but what if Caleb sees them and screws up the whole plan. Then that would prove that Caleb was right and that's the last thing that I want to happen.
"I think Mary should do this on her own. Plus we could screw up the whole thing," Penelope nodded, moving her arm from my shoulder.
Emma sighs and Violet is filing her nails. No wonder she doesn't know anything, she files her nails all the time and not paying attention to what we're talking about.
"So what's the plan?" Violet asked, popping her head up from her nails.
"Mary is going to ask Roy to be her pretend boyfriend tonight and we are not going with her," Penelope grinned, looking at Emma.
Emma scoffs and folds her arms with a pout on her face. "But if she has any problems then she can text one of us."
Penelope and Violet go to their classes while me and Emma go to ours which is History. Blah. Some stuff in there is pretty interesting, but usually it's just a drag. Like World War II is interesting, the War of 1812 with Great Britain is so boring and confusing because they have so many dates to remember for test.
I pull out a chair right by Emma and put my chin in my palm. The teacher, Mr. Brown, started to teach which made me want to go to sleep. My eye hesitated to stay open then I heard a loud bang. Someone drops their chair on the floor which made me wide awake in this boring class.
“Sorry,” a jock apologized with a fake grin, waving to the teacher.
"Wait, what?" Jordan asked with a mouthful of goldfish and his arm around Penelope. I told him everything what happened with Caleb so I can find a way to ask Roy to be my pretend boyfriend without making it awkward between us. I don't want to ruin the little friendship we have. If we don't have a friendship then I don't want to ruin the chances of having with him.
"Violet got me into this mess with Caleb and I need to ask Roy to be my pretend boyfriend or else Caleb isn't going to leave me alone," I explained.
Emma is primping herself in a compact mirror while Penelope is about to fall asleep on Jordan's shoulder. I love how sisters can be closely related yet different in many ways.
"Just ask him. He won't have a problem with it. I promise," Jordan grinned before he dump the crumbs from his bag into his mouth. I should really start bringing food to school so I wouldn't be so teased.
I lay my backpack down and put my head on it like Violet has it, but I'm going to sleep unlike her. I start to dream about me and Roy walking into the cafe and when we sit down, we start to cuddle, going according to plan. Caleb is a table in front of us and staring at us, making it obvious. He told me that he was going to be here so I don't know why he's trying to hide. Roy starts playing with my hair and I look him in his sparkling emerald eyes, then he starts to put his hand on my cheek. He looks at my lips and I look at his soft pink lips, then he starts to lean in and he kisses me. Some female gasps behind Roy and she has sparkling golden hair with blue eyes as deep as the sea. She's gorgeous!
"I can't believe you, Roy Wesley. We're over!" she cried, storming out the door and Roy goes after her.
I hold my mouth with my hand out of shock and Caleb walks towards me, smirking. The plan didn't work which means I have to be annoy with Caleb for the rest of my life and I made Roy lose his girlfriend.
"You're mine now, Mary Fall," Caleb said, putting his arm around me.
He starts to kiss my cheek repetitively and puts his other hand on my lower thigh. "We are going to be together forever." Caleb whispered in my ear.
I wake up, gasping while Emma looks at me like I'm crazy. The bell rings and everyone from the back start to get to the school building. I can't believe I just had that dream that Roy had a girlfriend and I screwed everything up for him and I. Caleb told me that we were going to be together forever. The biggest nightmare I ever had.
I stand up, grabbing my book sack from the ground and Emma is applying her lip gloss. I have to wait for her. It's part of our rules of being my best friend contract which doesn't really exist, but Emma uses that as an excuse if I don't want to wait for her. And trust me, I don't feel like hearing about it from her.
We start walking to our next class and I start to hear footsteps like someone is right behind me. Last time someone was behind me, it turned out to be Emma's psycho boyfriend and that didn't end very well.
I turn around to see Caleb on my ass like if you're going to follow behind me then at least give me some room.
"What do you want now?" I questioned bluntly, turning completely around to see Caleb's smirk on his face. Why can't he leave me alone for one minute please? He doesn't need to be around me twenty-four seven to make sure I'm not lying.
His smirks makes him cuter. Snap out of it, Mary.
"Mary, just letting you know that I'm being serious about you being mine if you're lying to me," he whispered in my ear.
He slightly kisses my cheek and walks away. I used to love those kisses and I think I kinda like that one. No, I can't like him. He'll just break my heart and make me miserable just like he would with any other girl.
Emma folds her arms, waiting for me to explain what just happened.
"I'll tell you later," I said, pulling her arm into our classroom which isn't far.
This classroom is freezing and I wish I'm kinda glad I brought my sweater today. Well I'm not going to be shivering my butt off all hour.
"Tell me now," Emma whispered.
"Caleb said-" the teacher shushed me. It's not like she's teaching anything. She's just at her desk what looks like she's grading papers. "He said that he was serious about me being his if I'm lying about Roy." I whispered.
Emma looks pissed like she wants to slap him, again.
"I'm going to kill him!" Emma hollered, pounding her fist on the table.
I flinch a little by the loud noise that echos the room. Everyone, including the teacher, looks at Emma and her face goes a bright red.
"Ms. Farewell, please step outside," the teacher commanded, pointing to the door.
Emma gets up in embarrassment, slamming the door behind her which made the teacher angrier with her.
The final bell of the day rings and I rush outside to get home so I can't get ready for my so-called date. I think I should wear something else beside Hello Kitty which is going to be pretty hard to do because that's more than half of my wardrobe. It's not a real date, Mary. I know but it doesn't hurt to look good. Not only for Roy but for myself.
My phone vibration broke into my thoughts. I grab it out of my book-sack, unlocking my screen.
Roy: Look up:)
I look up to see Roy's window going down, revealing his sparkling white teeth. What a surprise?
"Get in!" he lightly hollered.
I open the car door, greeting him with a smile and put my book sack on my lap. I turn to the window that I roll up, see Jordan waving at him.
"Hey, can we go by my house, I want to change?" I wondered, showing him my school clothes.
He nods and starts to drive away. What do I want to wear? It's a little chilly outside but I don't think it's cold enough for a sweater, maybe jeans but not a sweater. Maybe I can wear my light pink flowy shirt and some dark jeans. Now that would be cute.
Roy arrives at my house, throwing my backpack over my shoulder and entered my house.
I plop my backpack right next to the door and headed to my room. My closet is the definition of messy. If you look up the word in the dictionary and there's a picture of my closet right next to the word. The clothes are all over the floor, they're shorts thrown everywhere from top to bottom, and there is the shirt I have been thinking about wearing, it's on top of my closet.
I jump to get it and I step on my dark jeans that I was talking about.
I go downstairs after I get dressed, seeing Roy wearing a dark red shirt with some dark jeans. He looks so handsome. Now would be the time to tell him, Mary. I know, I haven't forgotten about it trust me. It's only been eating my insides all day.
"Roy, can we talk for a sec?" I asked, walking closer to Roy. My stomach starts to get twisted and he looks at me with a confused look.
He gestures me to go on.
I swallow and clear my throat before talking. "Caleb was flirting with me today and I was getting aggravated so my friend told him that I had a boyfriend and she said that you-"
"So you're asking me to be your boyfriend?" he wondered, air quoting boyfriend.
"Yeah. If you don't mind?" I faked a smile, starting to peel my nails nervously. Hoping he wouldn't make fun of me. I mean what kinda of girl sets this whole thing up just so someone can leave me alone. I mean really. He probably thinks I'm so pathetic right now.
"No, not at all. So its a date?" he asked, putting his hands in his back pocket awkwardly.
"It's a fake date," I corrected.
He offers his arm and I take it with a smile. Don't smile too much, Mary its fake. I know, but a girl can dream can she? As long as I don't get too carried away and remember its fake.
Roy walks me out to his car, opening the door for me. He shuts the door and goes to the drivers side. Roy starts to the car and I look out the window, then I hear my phone vibrate in my pocket.
Emma: How is it going?
Dear gosh woman we just got into the car and it's almost four which means that our date couldn't have started yet. So impatient!
We arrive to the cafe. I look to my side to see Caleb's car right next to us and he's playing with his phone. Please don't notice us just and that's exactly what he does. Once he gets his eyes on us and keeps staring, waiting for something dramatic to happen like a soap opera or something.
I nudge Roy's arm, he nods and gets out of the car to open the door for me. Roy starts holding my hand as we go to the cafe and get in line to order. I can feel that douche-bag right behind us and it's making me really nervous. I order a mint coffee while Roy orders a vanilla frappe which sounds really good. We gather our drinks and went to sit in a booth that has the perfect view of the beach. Caleb is sitting in the booth right in front of us just like my dream I had earlier.
"You should put your head on my shoulder," Roy whispered, putting his arm around me.
I do as he saids and I start smiling act like I'm having the time of my life then someone quickly walks through the door. She looks really familiar but I couldn't tell who it was with a magazine in her face. From what I can see is olive-skin with almond brown hair which reminded me of Emma. If Emma's here then she better not screw it up, I swear or it won't be pretty.
"Let's play with each other." Roy suggested.
Roy starts to tickle me slightly which makes me let out a little laugh and I playfully push him and tell him to stop. He must really know what he's doing, I kinda hope that he doesn't have his own girlfriend he learns it from.
I take a sip from my coffee then me and Roy start Eskimo kissing. It's weird at first, but it's cute. I want to do that when I get a boyfriend.
I can feel Caleb's cold stare on us so I start to feel Roy's muscle and you can tell that Caleb wanted to get up and punch Roy.
Caleb gets up from his table, coming towards us. This is making me scared and nervous at the same time. Why? Because I don't know if I acted well with the whole fake date thing and if I didn't then I'm going to be Caleb's little bitch.
He sits down in front of us with his coffee, looking delighted.
"Well I'm not sure if I'm believing that y'all are dating just yet," Caleb nodded, taking a sip of his coffee.
He smirks hoping that we would fess up to our lie but that's not happening.
I shoot him a confuse glare.
"I want y'all to kiss," he blurted out.
My heart starts to running a marathon and my face turns into a tomato at his demand.
"Look we don't have to prove anything to you. If you don't believe that we're dating then that's fine with us but just leave Mary alone, she's not interested and it's obvious," Roy argued.
"And if I don't?"
"Then I'll make sure you only make that mistake once," Roy sarcastically smirked.
He leans back in his chair, taking a sip from his coffee.
Caleb lets out a heavy sigh which is making me anxious. Dude, seriously, leave!
"Well I guess I'll leave y'all two alone. And Mary if you ever need a shoulder to cry on, you know who to call," Caleb nodded, walking out the door with his coffee.
The next thing I know I hear squealing behind me. It's Emma. I should've known that person was her.
She's jumping up and down, clapping her hands and disturbing the people.
"You were here the whole time?" I asked.
"Well, you didn't think I was going to leave my best friend unprotected did you?" Emma smirked, sitting in front of us with her coffee.
"Lets make a toast, guys," Roy said, holding up his coffee. "To fake dates."
"To fake dates," we recited, clinging our cups together.
