The room was filled with nurses as they pushed us out. "No! I need to be there with her!" I yell at they trying to push them away. "We need you two to get out of our way so we can do our job. Now go home you two!" I nurse yells at me and Ryan. "Yuri, lets go. We can visit her tomorrow. She'll be there, I promise." Ryan says taking my hand in his. "Ryan... What should I do? My mom is in the hospital fighting for her life! What do I do?" I sob into his shirt. He rubs circles on my back in an attempt to soothe me. "Don't worry. She will be just fine." he whispers and takes my hand again walking towards the elevator. I begin to sniffle standing in the small confined room, and suddenly my breath begins to quicken, my vision gets blurry, and I look wildly around the room. "Yuri? Are you ok? Yuri?!" I hear Ryan call out and I sit on the floor holding my head. Ryan kneels down next to me and places his hands on my shoulders shaking me. "Snap out if it Yuri." he whispers. I look at him tears falling down my cheeks. The elevator stops and Ryan takes my hands into his hands. He pulls me up and leads me out of the elevator and sits me down on the nearest bench.
He sits down next to me. "Yuri, what is going on?" he asks gently. "I don't know." I whisper and place my head in my hands. "I don't understand what is going on with me." I cry. "Yuri, why are you so stressed?" he asks, and I look at him like he's crazy. "My mom is in the hospital, and for some reason something is going on, and she could die!" I yell at him with tears falling down freely. "Yuri, you have to stay calm. Your mother wouldn't want you to be so worried. she will be fine." Ryan says "I have to see her again." I whisper running towards my moms room. I peek in the window. I freeze. There, in that room my mother lost her life.
The heart monitor continuous long ranged beep begins to drive me crazy. "Yuri!" Ryan appears behind me. "No. It can't be." I sob loudly. "Yuri, come on lets go over here." he says taking my hand leading me across the hallway. A nurse comes out and walks over to me. "Are you Mindy's daughter?" she asks, and I nod. "I'm sorry to say this but you mother has passed away. I give you my deepest regrets." she says and walks away. "Yuri, lets get you home." Ryan murmurs and begins to lead me towards the elevator again and I just stand there motionless. I stare at the wall, the elevator door opens and Ryan leads me out. We get out the front doors and I immediately pull away from him and run. "Yuri! Wait!" he yells, but I ignore him. Tears fall down my face, and I make it to our front door. I pull my keys out and fumble with them. I unlock the door and slam it shut. I walk towards my mom's room, I fall on the bed and cling onto her pillow. Alone. It's something I will have to deal with for the rest of my life. Something I've already started to get used to.
