Double Hemmings

Adam Lancaster is your typical nerd but without the real typical nerd look. He's good in school, almost only getting straight A's, and he is what you could define as slightly attractive. It all seems great, right? Well, you thought wrong. Nothing is great about Adams current life. Three months ago it was completely fine. It was exactly how Adam had wished it would be. But a couple of months ago something changed. He couldn't seem to figure out what was going on. Not until one day a couple of girls gathered up the courage to finally speak to him. It wasn't until after that, that things really started to finally make sense to him. But is it a good thing, or a bad thing?

We decided on a small cozy restaurant, just inside the Grove. We ordered only drinks and sat and talked.

"So, you're Luke Hemmings?" I asked stupidly, not really knowing how else to start a conversation. He smiled amused and laughed slightly.

"The one and only," he answered biting his lip ring. I smiled and shook my head.

"What did you want to talk about?" I asked looking at him.

"I saw the pictures some fans tweeted to me on Twitter, and I got curious." I furrowed my eyebrows.

"What photos?" From what I can recall I only have one photo on Twitter, and that my profile picture. It's a black and white where you barely see my face. Luke fished out his phone and typed on it a few times before showing me. It's a photo of me in school at my locker. It's taken from the side, so you can't really see my entire profile.

"Oh," I answered as he placed his locked iPhone on the table in front of him. "Sorry 'bout that," I added.

"Why are you apologizing for? This is not your fault, and I really don't mind it," Luke answered. I smiled a smile that didn't quite reach my eyes and shrugged.

"Why did you want to talk about?" I repeated as I didn't get an answer the first time.

"I wanted to talk to you about your family actually," Luke answered cautiously. My body visibly tensed and my hands tightened to fists.

"What about that?" I asked warily. Luke seemed unfazed by my reaction and simply continued.

"Do you have any siblings?" I shook my head tensely.

"No, an only child," I answered. "Do you?" He nodded with a smile. I felt jealousy form in the pit of my stomach and my heart clenched with the oh-so-familiar sadness. I smiled a fake smile.

"Cool," I answered. "How many?"

"Two older brothers. They're a real pain the ass with I worship the time I have with them when I finally do have time," he replied with a little smile. I simply nodded as if I understood when I really didn't. The silent was broken by the sound of Luke's phone ringing. He and I both jumped slightly at the loud noise and he hurried to take the call.

"Hallo?... Hey man!... What? Oh shit! I'll be there as soon as I can!" He hung up and almost sprung up from the chair. He slammed a bill on the table and looked at me. I got up from my seat and looked at him with furrowed eyebrows.

"Would you like to join me at soundcheck? I really want to get to know you." I only nodded and followed closely after him as he briskly exited the Grove and quickly hailed a cap.

"To The Forum, please," Luke said and the driver speed up.

"What was that about?" I asked with a nervous laugh.

"I totally forgot I have a concert tonight. Soundcheck starts in five minutes, and I'm not there," Luke explained. "God dammit!" He run a hand through his blond styled hair, a stressed look on his face.

"Oh." I don't know how to react to this, it's new territory.

Soon we arrived to The Forum and the cal driver drove around the back as he was instructed to by Luke himself. Luke paid and we both got out of the cap. He gestured for me to follow him to a door. He opened it and was greeted by a big muscular man, definitely security. He looked between Luke and me with a surprised expression.

"Hallo, Mr. Hemmings, the boys are waiting for you on stage," the man explained. Luke nodded and entered the building through the door, me following closely behind avoiding any form of eye contact.

"Who's 'the boys'?" I asked as we walked through multiply hallways. He really must know this place.

"Michael, Calum and Ashton, my bandmates. We'll meet them later," he answered. I nodded. "Now you go down that hallway and take a right. Go through the doors and you should be in the audience," he added and pointed the hallway to our right. Then he just continued ran down the hall and took a right. I gaped at him. The audience! Oh, my god, what if anyone sees me, it'd be so embarrassing! I walked down the hall anyways, take a right as he told me, and surely there is double-doors leading to the seats of the audience. A couple of girls and a guy is sitting on seats closer to the stage clearly excited. They must have soundcheck tickets. I looked at the stage and take a seat a few rows away from the fans so I wouldn't be seen by anyone, hopefully. I really don't want that attention.

"Hallo!" A guy on the stage with bright red hair and a guitar over his shoulders greets into his microphone, dragging out the word. "It seems like our dear Lukey isn't here, so -" he was interrupted by a scream from one of the girls. I covered my ears cringing. Damn lungs. I looked up again and discovered her reason for screaming. 'Lukey' had finally entered the stage, his guitar over his shoulders and a bright smile on his pierced lip.

"Look who finally decided to join us! Mr. Luke Hemmings everybody!" The guy with bold curls behind the drums laughed into his microphone. Damn, his laugh is contagious. I couldn't help but laugh as little laugh myself.

"Hi! Sorry for the delay, I was in the middle of... something," he apologized. The girls in the audience laughed, possibly thinking of something else, or just simply laughing because it's him. Oh, God.

"Anyway, we're going to be playing our first single from the first album, so enjoy!" The bassist said into his microphone. The guitar started and I mentally groaned as I face palmed. This is really not my scene, but I'm here anyway for some reason. I just can't get myself to leave. I guess I'll have to go through the next hour of this. Wish me luck!
