A/N: Picture at top is one of Michael's cars. (He's a gang leader so he has many cars) This is the car he drives in this chapter :)
"So what did you come here for?" Michael asked me as were walking side by side in the store.
"My mom wanted me to get some spaghetti noodles for dinner." I replied, looking at him.
"Cool. Why didn't your mom just buy them though?" Michael asked as we turned to go down the pasta aisle.
"Because she wanted me to get it for her. I don't really know why though but it's okay she gave me some extra money to get something I want plus I just like helping my parents out." I smiled and then noticed Michael looking me. "What?" I asked, looking back at him.
"Nothing. You're just so nice. If my parents asked me to get something for them I would probably tell them no." Michael shrugged. I grabbed two boxes of spaghetti noodles before turning to him.
"I bet there's some things you would do if your parents asked you to. I might not know much about you but I know you're not mean." I said looking at him. He just shrugged before walking to get his frozen pizzas.
"So how has your day been? It must suck still being in school." He said.
"Pretty good actually. I already told you Grace was a little annoying but she's my best friend so it's okay. Oh and I found out that we're getting a new student tomorrow and he's going to be in some of my classes and I get to show him around." I answered, getting excited towards the end. I love meeting new people and who knows maybe this new guy could be a part of my friend group. "What about you? How has your day been?" I asked, noticing that Michael was smiling at me.
"It's just been a normal day. Doing stuff with the boys and listening to Ashton being annoying. Although my day's gotten better just being able to talk to you and hang out a little even if we are just shopping." He laughed causing me to laugh. We were now in the frozen pizza section and he grabbed a handful of pizzas when I decided to ask him something.
"Hey Michael?" I asked, feeling a little nervous. I mean I don't know how he's going to react.
"Yeah?" He replied.
"I was just wondering what your thoughts are on Jace. I think the other guys seem to like him, but I want to know what you think." I want to be able to prove to Jace that Michael doesn't hate him and that he was just in a bad mood earlier. Michael turned to look at me with his lips pressed into a thin line for a moment before answering.
"I don't know much about him so I can't really say." He said simply.
"Okay. What are your thoughts on me? I mean you don't know that much about me either." I asked.
"I don't know much about you but I do know that you're a good person. Is there anything else you need to get?" He asked.
"I was just going to get some sour patch kids. They're my favorite candy ever." I smiled.
"I didn't know that. We're friends and we don't even know that much about each other." He said quietly.
"Well then we should change that." I smiled getting a smile back from him.
"Okay. Tell me some things about yourself." He said.
"Well I'm seventeen, my favorite colors are pink and black, my middle name is Isabella, I have older twin brothers, and I love bands but my favorite is definitely All Time Low." I said. I looked at Michael and found him staring intently at me with his light green eyes and smiling.
"I can't believe you like All Time Low! I love All Time Low! Alex Gaskarth is one of my heroes." He said excitedly.
"Really? That's so cool!" I smiled, grabbing a box of sour patch kids.
"Yeah. I'm guessing you wanna know more about me?" He asked.
"Of course I do!" I replied. Why wouldn't I want to know more about him? I haven't known Michael for very long, but I have a feeling that he's going to be one of my closest friends.
"Okay. Um... I'm eighteen, I love pizza, my favorite color is green, my best friends are Luke, Calum, and Ashton although I'm probably the closest with Calum since our families have been friends since like forever, I'm an only child, and like you I also love bands and obviously I have a love for All Time Low." He smiled and I smiled back at him.
"Honestly you seem like such a great guy I don't understand why people are afraid of you." I admitted.
"Well Sophie I don't know if you remember or not but I'm a gang leader. People don't normally think well of people like me." He said.
"But you're not bad. I've never thought bad of you. I've always just assumed that you and your gang have had a reason for the things that you do." I shrugged as we waited in line to check out.
"I'm glad you don't think bad of me, but I think you should know that I'm not always a nice guy." He admitted, looking me in the eyes.
"I know, but I don't think you're some bad guy who gets into fights and things like that just because." I replied.
"Sophie, do you know how I became the leader of my gang?" Michael asked, raising a pierced eyebrow. I shook my head. How do you even become a gang leader?
"I'll tell you later. Okay? When we're not in the store. Did you drive here?" He asked.
"Okay and no. I hate driving." I said and he laughed.
"Can I drive you home then?" He asked and I nodded smiling. We walked to the self checkouts and paid for our stuff before walking towards the door and out of the store. We were walking side by side in the parking lot when we came up to a black car. I think the car is a chevy corvette, but cars are not my forte. My dad would know. He would probably love this car.
"Do you like it?" Michael asked smiling, gesturing towards the car.
"I don't know much about cars, but yeah it looks nice." I smiled.
"I'm glad you like it." He smiled. I was about to open the door to get in, but he opened it for me.
"Thank you Michael." I smiled at him.
"Anytime." He smirked. He went to his side of the car and got in.
"You know you didn't have to do that though." I said shyly.
"I know. I wanted to." He smiled. "So I'm guessing you still want to know how I became the leader of my gang?" He asked, his smile gone this time.
"Yeah. But you don't have to tell me." I said, realizing his smile had disappeared.
"No it's okay. It's not like it's anything bad." He replied, as he stopped at a red light. "I just didn't choose this life." He said, looking over at me.
"Then how did you get into it?" I asked, furrowing my eyebrows. If you don't want to be in a gang, then how do you be in one?
"My father was the gang leader and before him his father was the leader and so on. Ever since the Jet Black Hearts were formed, my family has been the leader." He said.
"So if you could get out of the gang, would you?" I asked. He snapped his head to look at me and his eyes were wide.
"Of course not. If I wasn't in the Jet Black Hearts then I wouldn't have lived the life I did. I also probably wouldn't have become friends with the guys. I didn't choose this life, but I wouldn't trade it for anything else. My gang is my family. We look out for each other and everyone always knows that they have a place there." He said.
I'd never thought of a gang like that before. I'd always given them the benefit of the doubt, but I'd never thought of what the friendships would be like or how close everyone would be with each other.
"The only thing I don't like is the reputation that I have because of my life and the image that I have to keep up. I do bad things, but I'm not heartless. I am nice to some people." He defended.
"I've never thought about gangs like that before. It sounds nice to know you have people who will always be there. I'm glad they have you to lead them and I know you're not heartless. If you were, you never would have done any of the things that you've done for me." We turned into my driveway. Before I got out I turned to look at Michael.
"Thank you for bringing me home Michael." I smiled. "I'm also glad that we got to know each other more. I'm glad we're friends." I said. I was about to get out of the car when Michael started speaking.
"No problem Sophie. And I'm glad we got to hang out a little too. I'm so happy we're friends. It's nice to have someone to talk to who's not in the gang. I mean the guys and everyone else are awesome, but it's nice to have you too." He smiled a little. "Goodbye Sophie."
"Bye Michael." I smiled before opening the car door. "We should hangout again soon." I said and he agreed before I closed the door and walked up the steps to my house. I noticed that Michael waited until I had gone inside before leaving.
"Hey mom." I smiled as I walked in and saw my mom watching tv in the living room. "Are you watching Supernatural without me?" I asked offended.
"Hey sweetie and yes I am. But who was that who dropped you off?" My mom asked me, smiling. Oh no. She knows it's not Grace because my mom knows what her car looks like and if I tell her it was Michael she's going to start interrogating me about him since I've never brought him up before. But I mean, I don't want to lie to my mom and she's more than likely going to meet Michael at some point. I mean Michael and I are friends.
"First rude you know I love Supernatural and second I was at the store and so was my friend Michael so we talked and shopped together and then he gave me a ride home." I shrugged.
"I've never heard of Michael before. Is he a new friend?" My mom asked, furrowing her eyebrows.
"Yeah. I met him a couple of days ago. He's really nice." I said, going into the kitchen to put the spaghetti noodles on the counter.
"So how did you guys meet? Is he cute? Is he really just your friend? Do you like him? Has Grace met him yet?" My mom inquired, following me into the kitchen. This is exactly why I was questioning whether or not to tell her. I know she's just curious and not trying to be annoying, but I don't want to be interrogated. There's also no way I'm telling her how we really met. That is something I do not want to remember. I don't mind the part where I talked to the boys or the part where Michael walked me home. I just don't want to remember almost being kidnapped by Travis.
"We met at the park, honestly yes but I would never tell him since we're just friends, as I just said yes we're really only friends, I don't know if I like him more than a friend or not, and yes Grace has met him and she likes him. Also the guy that Grace is going out with tonight is one of Michael's best friends." I answered. My mom smiled meaning she already approves of our friendship. Although even if she didn't, I would still continue to be friends with Michael anyway.
"You should invite him over for dinner sometime." My mom said, getting the stuff out for the spaghetti.
"Okay. Maybe I will. I'm going to go do my homework now." I said going up to my room to finish my homework and then watch Supernatural.
