Once we got close to our villa I started walking slower, I'm so not looking forward to telling the girls.
"You don't seem too keen about going back." The boy noticed.
I nodded, "It's just... When I go back there and when I see those girls... I don't feel like explaining myself. Running away was stupid and childish, I know that, but I just.... I don't know."
"If you don't want to explain why you ran away to them, don't do it. Tell them that you are very sorry, but that you're not ready to explain yourself yet." We took a turn left and he said, "If they are good friends they will understand and respect your decision. Even though that might be little bit hard for them to do of course."
"I guess you're right. I'll tell them when the time is right."
He laughed. "Who knows when that will happen, people say the deepest shit when they consume alcohol. I mean, you guys are teens on a holiday so I bet ya that there is gonna be at least one day, probably more, that you will be hammered right?"
Our group wasn't really that into getting hammered. We get tipsy and drunk all the time, which 18 year old doesn't? Getting hammered though, that's not really up our alley. "Who knows." I chuckled
There it was, our villa. The lights were on and I could see a girl standing by a window, the boy must have noticed her too as he turned around and said: "I have a hunch that we've arrived at our destination, but before I let you go in and see your friends I have a question for you." He raised his eyebrows waiting for a response.
"Okay, shoot." I said
"May I give you my number?"
I laughed. "Yeah you may, except I don't think it would be of use for me," he gave me a surprised look, maybe even a shocked one, "seeing as I forgot to bring my phone with me and as I am not that good with numbers." I explained.
He sighed in relief "You got me there." And with an hopeful smile he said: "Could you maybe give me your number then?"
"Of course. After all, what kind of an ungrateful sad tourist would I be if I said no to the person that saved me?"
He chuckled and gave me his phone to put my number in. After he saved me under the name sad tourist Troian, we said our goodbyes and I walked up to our villa.
The second I opened the door I heard one of the girls scream. "Eva, Cat! It's Troian, she's back!" In a blink of an eye the four girls stood before me giving me a full body check.
"You look fine and unharmed!" Catherine said, with a sigh of relief.
Eva walked up to me, "Except for those red puffy eyes. Are you okay?" She embraced me in a hug and said: "Come, have a seat on the sofa and I'll pour you a glass of water."
"Aren't you guys mad at me?" I winched
They clenched their jaw and said: "We are absolutely fuming Troi, but that's not important right now. What's important is that you're save and that you will promise us you won't ever do something like this again!"
I nodded. "I swear I won't.. I'm so sorry for making you guys worried and ruining your day!"
"It's okay," Olivia kindly shushed, "do you suppose you can tell us what happened?" I hesitated, apparently long enough for her to feel the need to say something again. "Eva called your father and he said there are some problems back at home. Seeing as this is the call you got right before you ran off, we were thinking it maybe had something to do with you being upset and all. Do you want to talk about it?"
A tear fell down my cheek. On the one hand I want to tell them exactly what happened, how I feel and what I think, I want to get it all out, but on the other hand... I know that when I say it out loud it becomes irreversible, if I say it out loud it becomes real. I don't know if I'm ready for that. "I'm not ready to tell your guys yet. It's not life threatening or something, so don't worry about it, please. I am truly sorry for running away and I'm even more sorry for not being able to explain myself as you guys have every right to an explanation. Just know that I love you guys so so much, you all are such good and kind friends. I appreciate that so much!"
They awed me and told me they understand and respect my choice not to tell them, they told me that if I feel the need to talk I could always go to them.
Eva looked at her watch and yawned, "This has been the most tiring day. I'm sorry guys, but I'm going to bed now."
Catherine nodded. "Yeah me too, goodnight fellawzzzzz"
I looked at Liv to see if she wanted to go to bed as well, but she shook her head "You are not getting off the hook this easily. I want to hear more about what happened today, or should I say who happened today?" Liv, the girl who is always able to turn a shitty situation into a laughing matter.
I grinned "I ran into a stranger today and he was so so so handsome and nice, like.... you don't even want to know."
"Well, I catched a glimpse of him while you were saying goodbye and I must say, even from like 100 metres away he looks pretty damn fine." She winked. "Let me get a glass of wine and then you can tell me all about him. Do you want a glass too?"
I nodded "Yes, please!" Maybe the boy was right, it has a nice ring to it, drinking my worries away. It would really help me loosen up a bit.
Liv soon came back with two glasses of wine and we walked to the pool and sat down, our feet in the water, enjoying the lovely evening weather. "Soooo... What's his name?"
I gasped, "Shit, I'm such a dumbass. I completely forgot to ask him for his name."
Liv slapped me. "Noooo, you idiot, how could you forget to ask that? At least tell me you have his number!"
"He has my number, but I'm not sure whether he will call me. His first impression of me must be truly shitty. I mean, first, he saw me crying on a bench, all alone, for like two hours and then some strange girl called his buddies phone to ask where I was seeing as I took off 10 hours before that with no explanation whatsoever. In the meanwhile whenever he looked at me he probably didn't see anything else but my thick red puffy eyes. Way to go Troian, way to go! That’s how you charm a boy." I breathed
Liv sighed. "Okay, maybe you did come across a tad strange, but to be completely honest you still look like a total babe to me. Don't look at me like that, I swear I'm not joking right now. Your eyes aren't that thick and even so, I think it looks kinda good on you. It gives off like this wild and mysterious vibe. You, my dear, are not an ugly crier, that's for sure."
I smiled and gave her a hug. "Do you want another glass of wine?" I asked as I took the last sip of my wine.
"Do you even have to ask?" She laughed, "Could you bring the whole bottle with you, please?"
I stood up and laughed. "Sure thing Liv." I have to admit, I kinda feel like getting drunk, washing away my thoughts, worries and feelings. I took the bottle and as I was heading outside a little voice in my head called 'just one isn't enough'. I turned around, grabbed another bottle and walked back outside.
