Midnight Thoughts

I was told that my dad was a criminal. A no good dirty rotten guy who deserved no less than the worst. That he was so bad and so stupid that we wasn't worth the time and effort of being in a relationship. At least that's what my mom said. And I believed her every word.

1. The Big News

My mom sits down on the bed next to me and gently brushes the hair back from my face.

"Good morning baby girl." Mom says when I peek one eye open. I look over at her and smile then I sit up.

"Morning." I reply drowsily giving her a hug and a quick kiss on the cheek.

"Guess what??" She asks me excitedly.

"What!?" I reply with fake enthusiasm. I just woke up. Do you honestly think I can be happy at this hour in the morning? "Wait what time is it?"

"Only about 6 in the morning!" She replies cheerily and then puts her hands on the bed, a bright smile on her face, her brown eyes sparkling, as whatever news she has comes pouring out.

"We have some new people coming into the neighborhood!!!" I look at her as if she's crazy. My mom loves people. She cooks the most delicious food on the planet and she knows everyone in our small town. They also, all know her. She's the person to make the food for anything. People love her food and they come to our restaurant from other states jus to taste her food. We own a restaurant called "Lizzy's Delicious Heaven". My moms name is Lizzy and mine is Isabeau, but I go by Beau. Our last name is Millton.

"Sooooo you woke me up at 6 in the morning on a Saturday to tell me that we have some new people coming to our neighborhood?" I say giving her a look of annoyance. She looks at me and sighs.

"Oh Beau." She kisses my forehead and tucks me back into bed. "You can go back to sleep, but come downstairs when your ready, I'm gonna need some help from my executive chef!" She gets up and walks out and closes the door behind her. I roll over and fall back asleep.
