Creators Camp

How does a summer camp with your internet best friend and favourite YouTuber sound? What about having your whole past written in direct messages to that YouTuber with an abandoned Twitter account? What about having a past that could tear you away from the life you dream of living? It doesn't seem so easy anymore, does it?

14. Part 13.

"You sure you'll be okay?" Carrie asked as Connor pulled into a Starbucks after everyone begged him for coffee.

"Carrie I'm not two I'll be fine."

"No I mean alone with-" She gestured her head towards Connor and I nodded; now I get why she's worried.

"Don't worry I'll be okay you go."

She gave me a smile as she got off the bus along with everyone else.

I stayed on the bus with Connor simply because I'm to lazy to get up.

He was scrolling through his phone again, hopefully not through my messages.

"She really is broken." He sighed sadly.

"Who?" I asked praying there was someone else with a horrible past and closeted sexuality in his dm's.

What are the chances of that? Pretty high I reckon.

"Her name's Ella, my god I just realised that irony!" He let out a slightly sad laugh of realisation.

I didn't dare respond; lord knows I'll probably say something to give it away again.

Lucky I'm not Hannah Montana, I would have let it slip by now for sure.

I can be a good liar, but when it comes to covering myself and keeping things a secret I usually slip up.

"Wait she sent a photo."

Oh no. No no no no no. No!

"Connor I-" I was cut off by him turning around in his seat, breathing heavily staring at me in shock with sadness written all over his body language.

"Oh my god it's, it's you... y-you sent me all those?"

My mouth dropped open, nothing coming out.

No words were being formed, I was just gaping uncontrollably.

I saw the other girls approach the bus, Connor turned around in his seat without a word.

"Everything good Con?" One girl asked giving him a smile.

"Yeah fine." He put on a fake smile to give off the impression that he was okay.

I know better though. He isn't okay.

He's dumbfounded, he doesn't know how to comprehend this new information.

I have one option left now... I have to leave.

Carrie sat on the seat next to me with a questioning look.

"You okay?" She whispered.

I nodded without saying a word.

"Ella... tell me the truth."

She took my hand in hers and looked me in the eyes, I shifted my gaze to my lap and rested my head on her shoulder.

Tears fell down my face as I silently broke down on my best friends shoulder.

The best friend I'm about to leave...
