Too Little, Too Late

During his dark time, Justin runs into the same girl time and time and time again. Unable to find an actual reason for it, Justin tries to push her away from him, only to realize she's the only one he really wants around.

1. I Don't Have Time

(Ryan's POV)

I squeezed my way through the insanely large crowd, trying to be as small and un-noticeable as possible. I just wanted to get to class. That was it.

“What the fuck did you say?” I glanced up, jumping back in surprise as a bright red hoodie shoved in front of me. “I’ll fucking beat the fuck out of you!” The red hoodie guy was shoved back by someone in front of him and rammed directly into me.

I hit the ground, hard. The guy who ran into me glanced - no, glared - down at me. “Get her in the fucking van.” He spat at the guy who had shoved him back. He slipped into the van and the guy standing above me, helped me up. That’s when I recognized red hoodie. Justin Bieber. Holy shit.

I cooperated with Justin’s bodyguard, slipping into the van. He slid the door shut behind me, climbing into the front seat. After three minutes of very uncomfortable silence, Justin took a deep breath and looked over at me, his eyes a whole lot nicer than they were the few minutes before that. “I’m Justin.” He stuck his hand out towards me.

“Ryan.” I shook his hand, mumbling.

“Hi Ryan..." He stopped, looking over at me. "What in the world would name their daughter a guys-" Justin cut off, shaking his head. "Look, I’m sorry you had to be standing there for that, and I’m even more sorry  I ran into you. Are you okay?” I looked down at my now blood stained hands, and swollen wrist.

“I will be.” I shrugged. “Not the worst that’s ever happened to me.”

Justin leaned forward then, to the driver. “Hospital please. We’ll drop her off and Raphael can stay with her until they know she didn't break anything, her wrist looks pretty swollen.” Then he glanced back at me. “Not to pull a hit and run on you, but I don’t have time to stick around and wait on xrays.” His eyes had returned to the cold, hard glare they were before, when he’d knocked me over. “Raphael,” He gestured to the other bodyguard who had already been in the van. “will stay with you. He’ll keep you company and then someone will take you wherever it is that you need to go. I’ll take care of hospital bills. I don’t want anyone else to use shit against me.”

“Excuse me?” I scoffed in disbelief. “If that’s the type of person you think I am, then you’re horrible at judging people.”

“Yeah, well when you’re someone like me, a simple scraped hand can turn into a ‘you’re the father’ claim.” He spat back. “Sorry for being cautious. Get out.”

I glared right back at him, then shook my head and accepted the hand Raphael had reached out towards me, helping my climb out of the van.

When the van pulled away, Raphael took up a protective stance on my side. “I’m going to apologize for him,” He said under his breath. “He’s usually better than this. The paparazzi he tried to take a swing at, wasn’t saying the best things to him. He’s under a lot of pressure, but I promise you he’s actually a good kid.”

I nodded. “I’ve been a fan since day one. I know he is. Just not sure where ‘he’ is exactly.” Raphael glanced at me, giving me a short nod to show that he understood what I meant.

After waiting around for three hours, we got the X-rays back. I had a sprained wrist and bad bruising, but other than that, I seemed to be fine. I had Raphael drive me back to my place. I nodded a goodbye to him, and headed inside.

“Where in the world have you been?” My roommate, Lianna, bounded up to me excitedly. “You are all over Twitter. You didn’t even text me to tell me that something happened. What kind of roommate are you?!” She squealed.

I laughed, shrugging her off. “Give me some time to breathe.” I dropped my backpack off on my bed before heading back into the living room. “I was walking to class when he shoved in front of me. When his bodyguard shoved him away from the person he was taking a swing at, that’s when he ran into me. He apologized, took me to the hospital, insulted me and told me to get out. So I did.” I shrugged.

She stared at me in disbelief, trying to figure out if there was anything more going on with the story. Eventually, she shrugged as well and moved on with whatever it was that she had been doing before I walked through the door.

After a full day of laying around and nursing my wrist, I finally climbed into bed. That when my phone dinged with a Twitter notification.

    ‘Justin Bieber followed you.’

I rolled my eyes. His fans always made their name Justin Bieber on Twitter, they thought it was cool. When my phone dinged again, I looked down at it.

    ‘ Justin Bieber

Hey.. Look I just wanted to apologize with everything that I put you through this morning. I didn’t mean to run into you, and I was rude. I don’t want you to hate me because I had a single bad day. I just really hope you know that the person you say today was me, and I wish you’d met the real me before you saw this side of me. Again, I’m really sorry. I really hope you’re not upset with me.’

I snatched my phone off the charger, unlocking it. It was him. It really was him.

‘Hey.. Yeah, I know it wasn’t you. All good.’ I typed back. Hitting send, I laid my phone back down on the table. He was apologizing for running into me. That’s all it was.

    ‘ Justin Bieber

Are you sure? I feel awful.’

‘You’re all good. Have a good night Justin.’ I responded, laying my phone down again, plugging the charger into it. I rolled over, ignoring it when it dinged again. Justin was in there somewhere. He just needs to appear again.
