1. I'm grateful for the kindness of strangers. Old ladies smiling at me when I step onto the road to let them walk on the pavements that aren't quite wide enough for two people. Little kids waving from the fold-down seats in the front of shopping trolleys when their mums walk down the dairy isle. Homeless people who smile and understand that I'm not being rude, I just didn't bring any money with me. People in school who hold the door open for one person then end up holding it open for twenty or more people. The people who don't complain about having to wait for everyone else to walk through the door first. We should never take the kindness of strangers for granted.
2. I'm surprisingly grateful for the days when I'm not feeling so good or when everything isn't going as I planned. If everything was constantly picture-perfect, I wouldn't able to appreciate it when things turn out that way as much as I do. Also, if life was like that, I've convinced myself that it would be one of the most excruciatingly boring things to experience.
3. I'm grateful for all of the things that I look forward to, even the little things that I enjoy like my favourite songs coming on when my music is on shuffle or when one of my favourite authors updates their stories. The things I look forward to make me happy. They are a part of me.
