7. Training Range

The next morning at five-thirty, I'm dressed and ready to go to the training range.
Although, I sit down at the table to eat breakfast first.
After I eat, Finnick and Mags look at me, then I notice that Caleb isn't here.
"Where's you know who?" I ask.
"Still asleep." Finnick says. "He said he needed rest."
I roll my eyes and lean back in my seat.
Mags smiles.
Finnick looks at me. "Feather, be nice now."
"But I find that so hard to do for him." I say smiling.
He chuckles and Caleb walks in shirtless.
I look back at the table rolling my eyes quickly and drinking some more water.
"Good morning beautiful." He says smirking at me.
I look over at him. "Uh, Caleb?" I ask in a polite sweet, high voice.
"Yes love?" He asks.
"If you ever call me beautiful again, I'll kill you in your sleep." I say, instantly stopping the fake voice and looking at him irritated.
Finnick and  Mags try their best not to laugh as Caleb  sits down, stunned.
Caleb wasn't trying to get on my good side, and I doubted that he ever would.
The truth hurt sometimes, and I knew that what I said yesterday to Caleb was true.
He wouldn't last a day.
The bloodbath that would take place first thing would be something that I'd do my best to avoid.
I could always make my own weapons...Somehow.
As Caleb began to eat, I finished my second glass of water and the avox girl who had been assisting us today, came over to refill it.
"Thank you." I say to her and she nods.
Caleb looks at me weirdly. "You don't have to say that to them."
"Yes I do, their human just like me and they should be treated as such. Plus, I was raised with some manners, unlike you." I say taking a drink.
Finnick grins, looking at Mags who is doing the same.
"You know Caleb, you could actually learn a thing or two from Feather." Finnick says.
"Kindness won't get you anywhere in the games." He says. "It's every man for himself."
"Now where have I heard that before." I say rolling my eyes and leaning back in my chair.
Caleb smirks, placing his hand on my inner high thigh.
I gasp, and shove it away. "If you ever place your hand on me like that again I'll cut it off!" I say angrily, glaring at him.
Finnick frowns and looks at Caleb. "Apparently you don't know how to treat women."
"Women are here for one reason and one reason only..." Caleb says smiling at Finnick. "To re-populate and do household chores.
I growl at him and Finnick's frown deepens.
"Actually you're wrong. They don't have to re-populate, some of them can't. And as for doing household chores, they're not maids who should cater to your every whim. Grow up and be a man Caleb, you'll need it in the games. Until you figure out what 'love' is, I suggest you keep your mouth shut!"  Finnick says.
Mags looks at me and then at Finnick, then she turns to look at Caleb with a look of disappointment.
Caleb just rolled his eyes.
Finnick then stood up. "Alright, it's time to go. I'll take you down to the range."
Caleb stood up, smirking as we followed Finnick to the elevator.
Finnick then stopped, throwing a shirt towards Caleb.
"Put on a shirt, you won't be impressing any of these ladies." He says and Caleb frowns.
I giggle and head into the elevator.
As Finnick presses the button for the training range, I watch as the number changes instantly, we were there in seconds.
The doors opened and we stepped out to see all of the other tributes standin around, talking with their partners.
Finnick then looks at us both. "This is as far as I go, be safe, don't get into any fights Caleb," He says looking over at Caleb. "And remember what I told you."
I nod and Finnick goes back to the elevator.
Instantly, he disappears.
As we walk further into the training range, a woman makes us line up.
We have to listen to her as she talks to us before we even get to train.
"You all have a long few days ahead of you before you go into the arena. Most of you will die from dehydration, the rest from infections or worse. This is the training quarters, therefore, their are rules. Rule one: No fighting, you'll have plenty of time for that in the arena. Rule two: no teasing. This is just to train you for things you're not ready for or that you don't know. And rule three: Have fun. You are free to train." She sets us free and I head over to the area where you can make your own fish hooks from random things.
I start to work on that, finally acing it and then heading over to the fire building area.
Afterwards, I came back to find a redhead from two and a blonde from six giong at it with each other.
Peacekeepers instantly pulled them away from each other and took them to separate places to cool down.
Then I went to the dagger area and took a turn on the dummy that was there.
Little did I know that I was actually really good at throwing knives.
As I aimed and hit every target perfectly, I found that I had caused a lot of people to stare.
After I stopped, I went back to doing smaller things and keeping the attention off of me.
But it wasn't long after, I was working on rope-knotting, when I felt two hands placed on my hips and someone at my ear.
I froze.
"Need any help there love?" A voice that was completely unfamiliar to me asked.
"N-No, thank you though." I say.
The guy chuckles, but doesn't release me.
"Are you scared?" He asks.
"Well, considering that you've got your hands on my hips and your head near ear--Plus the fact that I don't know you- yeah, I kinda am." I say.
I can tell that a smirk has made it's way onto the guys face.
He turns me around gently and I take in his unbelieveably blue eyes.
His black hair messy and his perfect white teeth showing in a smile.
"Tanner." He says.
"Feather." I say looking at him.
"I see you're from the same district as that jerk over there." He says nodding his head towards Caleb.
"Yep, he is a jerk." I say looking over at him. "What district are you from?"
"Eight." He says plainly.
I nod. "I was just wondering. I'm still trying to remember everyone."
"So you can make a kill list?" He asks.
"No." I smiling. "I won't kill unless I have to."
He nods. "I know how you feel."
"I also don't fall for trickery easily." I say studying him.
"Trust me, I have no tricks up my sleeve. I actually feel sorry for you,  having to deal with that jerk and all."
"You have no idea how much a jerk he actually is." I say rolling my eyes.
He chuckles and then the bell rings signaling that training has ended.
He releases me and smiles. "See you tomorrow four."
You too eight." He says as I go over to the elevator.
I get in and hit my number, Caleb nowhere in sight.
As the doors close and I head up to the room, I notice that there are two others in the elevator with me.
The elevator stops early to let them off t two, then starts going again, leading me up to four.
