~As we pulled into the station, I heard the roaring crowd of people who were happy that we were all going to die.
Seriously, I didn't have a very good attitude right now towards them. After all, they made all sorts of children go through this, and yet they were happy about it?
Caleb faked his best smile and got off of the train confidently.
I stood back, watching as Mags walked with him.
Finnick leaned down to whisper in my ear. "Are you alright?"
"No. Their are stupid morons out there who want to kill us and their happy about it." I snap.
He backs away and chuckles. "This is true."
"I don't want to walk past them, they're already putting me through enough torture." I say.
He nods. "I understand how you feel, Feather. I felt just like you when I was entered in the games."
"Can't I just wait til their al gone?" I ask.
"Sadly, no. There will be another train coming shortly and this one has to be moved by then. Plus, we have to get up to the room and get you both settled in."
"Nothing's settling about this place." I say.
He laughs. "Come on, I'll be right beside you."
"I'm going to look down all the way to the elevator." I say.
"That's perfectly fine." He says.
I sighed and almost growled as we walked off of the train.
Keeping my head low, I still noticed the faces and outfits of the Capitol people.
What the heck was going on here? It looked like it was 'dress like an clown' day.
One girl, who looked around my age--although I couldn't tell for sure because of all the make-up she was wearing--, had on way too much eyeliner. It came all the way out to the back of her temple.
Then, a guy--who looked much older--had spikey white hair that stuck up all around.
It honestly looked like it was sharp to the touch, but what really got me was that he was wearing white lipstick and had black eyeliner on too.
These people looked like something out of a horror movie!
As we made our way to the door, I kept hearing people whisper and shout.
"Is that Finnick O'Dair?" One woman whispered.
"My, he looks fetching with the girl from District Four." Another one added.
"Maybe if she wins they can be together." Some high-pitched girl said.
"Highly doubted she'll survive though, why, she won't even look up!" Someone pretty much insulted me.
My jaw tightened as we finally made it inside of the elevator, we were alone and the doors closed.
"I wanna rip their heads off!" I almost yell.
He smiles, looking at me. "It gets worse, trust me."
"Just kill me now." I pleaded.
"You're not going to die on me." He says sternly. "It will eventually be easier."
"Eventually? Finnick this is complete---" I didn't get to finish because next thing I knew, we were already getting off of the elevator and what stunned me was the ghost like figures standing in almost every corner of the room.
Their faces and bodies were pale white and their make-up was dark. Each of them had tehir hair pulled back in what looked like a bun, but they never said a word and always kept their eyes closed.
"Oh my gosh." I say silently as I looked around.
Mags and Caleb appeared and came to greet us, although Caleb didn't really greet, he just smirked at me.
"Isn't it nice Feather?" Caleb asks.
I just stare at him in confusion.
"All of this luxury and yet so little time to relish in it?" He says. "Avoxes always ready to assist your every need, it's the good life."
"Avoxes?" I say and then realize.
Avoxes were people whom the capitol had tortured by cutting their tongues out so they could no longer speak.
That was their second best punishment, their first one was the death penalty.
"You sorry son of a--" I lunged at Caleb and Finnick had to pull me back, but I continued to fight. "How could you be so cruel and mean!"
"That's life sweetheart, get used to it." He says, but then smirks. "Oh, but don't worry about it love, you'll be dying in a few hours anyway."
"I'd kill you in the night if I could!" I say glaring at him as Finnick and Mags gasped. "You care about no one but yourself, and that shows how immature you are! I'd rather die caring for someone than not caring at all because that's the worst way to die. It's extremely lonely!"
Caleb's eyes widen, his smirk completely gone.
"And no, I won't die first, you will because you'll let your confidence outway your guard and so your alert system will be shut off! You'll die a cruesome death Caleb, nomatter how much training you've had or anything!" I shout and Finnick pulls me to him as Caleb just stands there staring at me and taking in my words.
"That was harsh, Feather." Finnick says making me meet his eyes.
"Well it's high time he faced up to the truth and what he's gotten into." I snap.
Caleb's smirk comes back onto his face. "Feather, how you have it completely wrong. You sick twisted little girl. Although, if you want a good time before your life ends, my bedroom door is always open."
Finnick's eyes widen and mine do too as I try to lunge at Caleb again.
"I'll kill you if you ever say that to me again!" I shout.
"Feather, Feather calm down!" Finnick says.
"You immature, two-timing, good for nothing---"
"Feather calm down!" Finnick says as I continue to fight against him to get to Caleb.
"Caleb, go to your room before she does in fact rip your head off."Finnick says.
Caleb shruggs, but goes anyway and after he leaves, Finnick's grips grows stronger.
"Look at me!" He says as my angry eyes look into his stern ones. "We will not be killing anyone in this room, do you understand?"
I look away and find Mags looking at me with sympathy in her eyes.
"You'll have plenty of time to take care of him in the arena." Finnick says.
"I'm not going to stand back and let some idiotic jerk tell me that I can come to his room to have sex before I die, Finnick!" I snap at him. "I'm not just gonna sit back like this is all ok and alright when everything is actually crumbling to the ground!"
He looks into my eyes.
"I don't want to be anywhere near him anymore!" I say, breaking free from his grip and running to my designated room, after I find it that is.
As I lay there, looking out of the 'TV window' I realize what a fake place this is.
All of my tears, all of my fears, they were coming together to form one big mess!
As I searched through the snapshots of different places, I came to one that sort of reminded me of District Four.
I sniffled and watched as the water seemed to move, but I knew that it was only a projected scene, it wasn't real at all.
Things were so horrible here and I wanted to be back home.
It seemed like I had cried every last tear, felt every last feeling of sadness that I could feel...I felt stuck.
The people, the scenery, the atmosphere--It was all different!
People dressed in creepy and funky clothes and i just wanted to be at home where people dressed and acted normally.
After awhile longer, a knock sounded on my door, but I didn't dare say anything.
I bet it was Finnick and knowing him, he'd come in anyway.
Sure enough, my guess had been right as he sat on the edge of the bed next to me.
"Don't." I say looking at the scene on the TV window.
"I don't need you to tell me how stupid I acted, I've already dealt with enough pain." I say.
He pulls me up and to him.
"Feather, I know it hurts...I know what you're feeling...But let me help you."
"How can you help me Finnick? There's nothing you can do." I say as I breathe in his familair scent.
"Have you forgotten that I was in the same position that you are in now? Except I was fourteen, not seventeen.
My green eyes closed as he held me close to him.
"Feather, it doesn't get easier, but I can help you with it if you'll let me." He says softly.
I nod, tears coming again and clinging to him for dear life.
"Don't leave, I don't wanna be alone." I say.
And he doesn't leave.
As I tell him what I'm feeling and he helps me, I fall asleep on his chest.
He stays with me, comforts me and makes me feel safe and protected.
I didn't wnat to be alone, and I knew that Finnick would never leave me alone....
