The next day, I was in a strange place....I was in what looked like a hospital gown, and the room consisted of a cold metal table that I was currently sitting on.
I had a very ineasy feeling in my stomach...This placed looked like a hospital...Or a torture room.
Tonight was the night they would be showing us off to the Capitol, and I would have tosit in that dang chariot next to Caleb.
I dreaded it.
As I fiddled with my fingers, a woman with bright red hair and red eyes walked in.
She was dressed in all black, her make-up was surprisingly light compared to what I had seen here, and she looked to be only a year or so older than me.
She smiled. "Hello Feather." She said in a soft, calm, gentle tone.
"Hello." I say cautiously.
"I'm Escara." She says smiling happily. "I'll be your designer."
She would make me pretty and that would be that, a show.
"I'm not like most designers though, Feather." She says. "I don't just design things to make you look pretty. I design things to make you stand out from the rest of the tributes."
Her red eyes I knew weren't natural, but they looked completely natural to me.
Her teeth were extremely white and she was pale, but I knew why...Everyone in the Capitol dressed differently...They made their own style and their own personal look using their make-up and clothing.
"So you're not going to dress me up like a fish?" I ask.
She laugh softly. "No, I wouldn't want to dress up like a fish myself, much less would I put a person that I was working with through that."
I could tell that we would be getting along just fine and so I smiled.
"There's that beautiful smile!" She says. "Everyone has one somehwere, some just tend to keep it hidden from everyone."
I look down.
"So today, we're going to work on you, get you ready for tonight and blow everyones minds." Escara says.
As she and two others(Who you could tell were really from the capitol) started working on me, I watched carefully what they did.
Escara somehow knew when I was uncommfortable with something and helped me out.
When they finished cleaning me up, Escara set to work.
I noticed how her features were young and bright. She was always happy and took problems that she faced with me very nicely.
As she slipped on my outfit, I noticed what I was wearing....And it was quite beautiful too, might I add.
It was a beige color dress, with a a light beige color fish netting all over it. The dress came only to about my high thigh, but the netting continued and flowed all the way to the ground.
My make-up was done naturally, with no fancy colors and my hair was in a messy braid behind me.
As I was placed in gladiator sandals that came all the way up to my knees, a trident was handed to me.
Then, I was taken to the place where we were all supposed to meet and ride our chariots from with the other tributes.
As we walked over to the chariot with our district number on it, Mags, Finnick and Caleb were all standing there, staring at me.
Finnick's eyes widened slightly as I stopped right in front of them.
"You clean up nice." Caleb says with a smirk.
I sarcastically smile at him and he chuckles.
Mags smiles at me and hugs me, I hug her back.
After we release, Finnick stands there, looking me up and down like I was a shiny new toy.
"Y-You look incredible, Feather." He says.
I blush slightly. "Thank you."
No one had ever told me that...Never.
As we got into the chariot, the music started to play.
I was nervous.
"Alright, this is a great time to get noticed by people who can sponser you. Smile, relax and get lots of peoples attention." Finnick says.
"Trust me, they will." Escara says smiling. "You're tridents will shoot a laser off at different times, it's not a dangerous laser or anything, but don't be freaked out by it." She adds.
I nod and with that we were off.
Paying no attention to Caleb, I kept my eyes straight ahead, smiling my best smile.
Lights. Big shiny lights were everywhere and camera's were going off in every direction too!
The crowd was screaming and shouting and the lasers started shooting up from our tridents instantly.
People were throwing roses and hats, and other things too!
It was weird and cool all at the same time.
As I looked around, I seen myself, smiling, on the big screen.
Apparently we had captured the attention of everyone and we were now being watched.
As our chariot finally stopped near a balcony, I knew that we had made an impression...But I didn't know exactly what kind of impression....
President Snow came out onto the balcony and everyone calmed after a few moments.
"Welcome to the seventieth Annual Hunger Games!" He said in his deep voice. "These tributes that you see before you are all going into the arena in one week, and will be battling until only one remains...Tributes, we thank you for your sacrifice and may the odds be ever in your favor."
The speech was short and sweet for the capitol people, but for us tributes, it was cruel and bitter.
As we arrived back in the building where the chariots were to go to, I stepped off and walked over to Escara and the others.
She was smiling and so was Finnick, Mags and Calebs' stylist.
"You two were wonderful!!!" Escara says smiling. "They loved you!"
I smile and then catch Finnick staring at me again.
Blushing, I look down, only to look up and see the tributes from two glaring.
"Maybe we should head upstairs." Finnick says following my gaze.
All of us nodding, we rode the elevator up to the fourth floor and went into the living room like area.
We talked and chatted and thought about tonight.
After all was said and done, I thought about the tributes who were glaring at us tonight.
As I was taking my make-up off and letting my hair down(Still wearing my costume), I noticed Finnick standing in the doorframe or my bathroom, watching me.
"You were amazing tonight, Feather." He says smiling.
"Thank you." I say as I finish taking off the last bit of make-up, then I start working on my hair.
"You look extremely beautiful." He says.
The blush comes back and suddenly it feels like there are a thousand butterflies in my stomach.
"Thank you." I say.
As I run a brush through my hair, Finnick's smile widens.
"Are you ready for training tomorrow?" He asks.
"Not really, but I'm trying to prepare myself for it." I say.
He chuckles. "You'll be fine."
"Any tips?" I ask.
"Stick to the smaller things, try them. Don't show off to the tributes, show off to the gamemakers." He says.
I nod. "Got it."
"I'll help you train on day two, after you're done training with the others." He says.
I nod and look at my reflection.
He studies me and then walks over, placing his hands on my hips. "There is a party after the Caesar Flickerman show. All tribute will be attending."
I sigh. "I just don't get it..."
"What do you mean?" He asks.
"Why they want to make us feel cared for or let us have fun but then have to fight to the death." I say.
He nods. "I know, it seems quite insane."
I smile. "I'm glad that you understand me, because if you weren't here, I'd go crazy."
He smirks. "I wish I were going in with you."
"I'm glad you're not. I wouldn't want you to get hurt...You've already been in the games once." I say.
"And for you I'd do it again." He says.
My eyes widen at his sudden comment and he just smiles.
"Feather, you owe me nothing...But if you really feel as if you do then do me one favor...." He says as I listen closely. "Stay alive."
It was something that I thought of later that night, while I laid in bed.
As I watched the water on the TV window move, I thought about everything.
For me, it wasn't such a good thing to do this, but it seemed right at the moment.
So, as I laid there, I thought of things that could happen and that probably would happen, but then I fell asleep in the process of thinking of these things....
