18. Caleb's Plan

The next morning, I woke up before dawn, and for a good reason too!
Caleb, was talking with someone below the tree--thankfully, my name was never mentioned and he never saw me.
Although, as I looked down to see who it was, I realized that it was the girl from eight, Tanner's District!
Caleb was trying to persuade the girl to be on his side...But she was reluctant.
I watched in horror as his patience level was starting to drop.
She knew not to trust him, she knew that something about him wasn't right.
Heck, he'd probably kill her in her sleep if she wasn't careful.
I could tell that she wanted to run, but Caleb backed her up to a tree and started talking in a soft voice to her.
It was all lies and games from there.
Promises meant to be broken, lies that sounded so true, confessions that were fake---He played his game well.
I had my bow and arrows, I could easily kill him right now if I wanted too, but I wanted to see how long he would actually last.
The girl continued to disagree and say no, finally, Caleb smirked evily and looked at her.
"Alright, if you won't join my side, then you will be against me, which means..." He trails off.
She tries to run, but he snaps her neck so quickly that all she lets out is a small scream.
The thunder of the cannon echoed in my mind until I finally realized that Caleb was gone.
The hovercraft had picked her up and that knocked another person out of the arena....
So, I got down, getting ready to find something to eat and go get some water.
Thankfully, I was doing rather well.
So far I hadn't gotten in any fights or anything and for that I was thankful!
Just when I was close to the river, I heard voices again...They were all too familiar to me too!
It was Alana, and Travis...But Caleb was with them.
"Great, now, we'll set up camp at the edge of the trees by the lake." Caleb was saying. "Any other careers who want to join will be allowed to, but they have to abide by the same rules that you two will."
I seen the two of them nod their heads and then they started off.
He was working on his plan...He'd start slowly killing them off when he knew it was safe too.
I drank some water and then went searching for my next meal. I needed to get something in my system for today.
As I continued and hunted, I finally found something, then I went back to my tree for the night.
