The Odds Aren't In My Favor

Feather Amaris Albany was on her own. Her parents had married when they were in their teens, but a year after they had Feather, her father died in The Hunger Games. When she was twelve, her mother died, leaving her alone and on her own. She had to take care of herself. She traded, she hunted and she learned to fight...Especially since she had to stay alive and no one was there for her. But, after the first few months, someone helped her and that someone was Finnick O'Dair. He had helped her out by paying her to do things around the house for him and he had given her things that she needed. Now, she's seventeen and facing the next greatest danger in her life...The Hunger Games. She wishes that it was a nightmare, she hopes that it's all a dream, but sadly it's a reality that she has to live with. Now she must fight to the death and stay alive, and with Finnick as a mentor, she's sure that she can do it! Feelings start to get in the way, and she fights for her life, but what'll happen?

28. Caesar Flickerman's Show

We were backstage and I was fiddling wth my hands.
Finnick and Mags watched my nervousness take hold of me as I waited to walk out onto the stage where I would then do an interview with Caesar Flickerman.
I had been here before, of course, but it didn't make anything easier.
My dress that was a sunset orange color swirled around as I constantly paced the floor.
"If you don't stop pacing, your going to wear those heels to stubs." Finnick joked and I just looked at him.
He got up, chuckling and stopped me by holding my shoulders and making me face him.
"Deep breath," He said to me and I took a dee breath. "You are ok and you will walk  out onto that stage confidently and you will be the star of the night, got it?"
I slowly nod and then he pecks my lips. "Much better."
"And now, please give a welcoming round of applause for our next guest, Feather Amaris Albany, winner of the seventieth annual Hunger Games." Caesar Flickerman said and the crowd went wild.
I looked back at Finnick and Mags, taking a deep breath, then I went out.
The lights were blinding and Caesar was smiling like always.
He kissed  my hand and then we both sat back down.
"Well, well, well Miss Feather, we meet again." He says smiling at me. "How are you doing?"
"To be honest, I'm not exactly sure." I say, feeling that my palms were beginning to sweat and my legs had turned to jello.
He chuckles. "Are you happy to be out of the games?"
"Yes." I said.
"We're glad to have you out of the games to!" He says smiling as the crowd applauds again.
After it dies down a bit, he smiles at me."Was it hard killing your own teammate like you did? You shocked the Capitol very well."
"Actually, killing anyone is hard....But Caleb was bloodthirsty and had very bad intentions for me. He would have killed me if I hadn't taken the chance I did."
He nods. "We know and that was very brave of you."
I smile. "Thank you."
He smiles and continues. "What would you tell future tributes, from your experience?"
I looked down, took a deep breath, then looked up. "I would have to tell them that you have to be strong and be brave." I say as I stare into the camera. "Choose wisely and follow you instincts. Do not fall for traps and watch out for who you trust. You can make it out alive if you don't get a big head like some do. Focus on your survival and if you ever do have to take someones life, please just make it quick for them. Taking lives is never easy and it's very tragic, but please, don't make it worse for them than it already is. Remember that they'll never see their loved ones or friends...They'll never return home. Never take the quick route and always keep your thoughts positive. Nothing will kill you quicker than bad choices and negative thinking. My true advice to you would be to just keep your eyes open...."
Caesar looks at me as I turn to look at him and he nods. "Very wise words indeed. You're very smart and caring, Feather and I have one last question for you...." He says as if thinking about how to word it. "We all know that you'll be returning home soon....What will you do when you return home?"
I smiled. "I'm going to see my friends and live my life with no fear. I'm going to watch the sun set over the water and I'm going to just relax and work on some things."
He smiles as if knowing a secret. "I'm positive that that's not all you'll be doing." He says looking behind me.
I frown and then turn around.
I gasp in surprise as I find Finnick on one knee, with a ring right out in the open, glittering away.
Shooting up from my seat, I look at him, my hands covering my mouth.
"Feather Albany," He says smiling. "I know that we haven't trully been together really....But we've known each other for quite a long time....And I get the feeling that I'm never really going to ever be satisfied in life if I don't have you and I think you'll feel the same way. So, will you marry me and become Mrs. Feather O'Dair?"
My eyes tear up and I can't stop smiling.
I knew from the moment we kissed he was different....I knew that he was what I wanted.
There was no way that I could tell him no, so I smiled and  slowly removed my hands.
"Yes, Finnick. I will." I said and I'd never heard so much noise in all my life.
He stood up and placed the ring on my finger, then he suddenly dip-kisses me right in front of the audience. The screams and cries echoed through-out the building and were louder than ever.
I smiled against his lips and he smiled against mine.
As he brought me back up, we smiled  at each other.
"Looks like someone is going to be planning a wedding." Caesar says with a smile, but we continue to gaze into each others' eyes, forgetting about everything.
I couldn't believe any of this....But I was so glad that I wasn't dreaming.
