After thirty minutes, everything started coming back to me. It was like all of my heartbreaks came back at once, shattering my heart into a million pieces. A tear fell from my eye and the world faded away.
"Ki?" Jay asked.
I looked at him and stayed silent.
On the drive home, I stared out the window, ignoring every word anybody said. As we pulled into the driveway, I sighed.
"Ki, are you ready to talk?" Jay asked.
I opened the car door and walked inside without saying a word. I lied on the mattress and stared at the ceiling.
Jay walked in and stared at me.
"Come on, let's go for an adventure."
I shook my head.
"I know you're hurting, but you can't let this get you down."
I didn't say a word.
"I didn't think it'd come to this but..." He said and grabbed my feet. He dragged me through the hall.
He lifted me into the tub and turned on the cold water.
I jumped up and squealed.
"Jay!" I shouted.
"I had to do it, bro."
"No, what you need to do is stop being an idiot!" I shouted and ran down the stairs and out the front door.
I walked to the park. Kids were playing on the swings, laughing and enjoying life.
I sat on a log and stared at the ground.
"I can't handle this." I sighed.
I felt a tap on my shoulder.
I turned around to see Marie.
"What the fuck was that about?"
"What?" I growled.
"I'm talking about almost letting Jay hit me with a fucking shovel!" She hissed.
"Are you fucking kidding me? Really? Marie, I went to the hospital for you. Be grateful for once in your life."
"This isn't a game." Marie growled.
"I tried to help you but no! You have to be ungrateful like always. Fuck you!" I hissed.
"You wish you could." She smirked.
"Why would I want an apple that had 50 bites taken out of it?"
"What is that supposed to mean?!"
I got up.
"I'm done with all this nonsense. Bye." I growled and walked away.
"This isn't over!" She shouted.
"See you in Hell!" I shouted back.
I walked away from the park and went into the general store.
I looked at the sketchbooks and as I was standing there, a lady walked behind me.
"Can you move your ass?" She growled.
"Can you stop being a bitch?"
She growled and walked away.
I got a pack of pencils and a cheap sketchbook. As I stood in line, I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around to see the girl from earlier.
"Ki?" She asked.
"How'd you know my name?"
"Ki, it's me, Amelia. Remember? Middle School? Wayfield?" She asked.
"You better not be shitting me."
"Sorry I snapped back there. I didn't recognize you and school has got me stressed."
"I'm sorry too." I laughed.
"So you're an artist now?" She smiled.
"No, but I need something." I laughed.
"You know to stop me from... uh... yeah." I sighed.
"What happened?" She asked.
"Let me see your wrists." She said quickly.
"Amelia, I'm fine."
"Ki, I swear to God."
"And there's the Amelia I know." I laughed.
"Ki." She said.
"Amelia, there is nothing there. I only got the sketchbook because I didn't want to get into that again."
"Fuck you, show me." Amelia said.
"Well, aggressive, aren't we?" I smirked.
I sighed and rolled up my sleeves.
"Ok, you're good." She said and I unrolled my sleeves.
"We should hang out sometime." I smiled.
"Are you busy at 8 tonight?" She asked.
"Okay, I'll meet you at the mall." She smiled and after I paid for my stuff I left.
I walked home and Jay was waiting by the door.
"Oh, hey, jerk." He growled.
"You made fun of me for 4 years and I called you an idiot one time. No use to be mad. Now I have to get dressed." I said quickly.
"Wait, do you have a date?" Jay asked and followed me up the stairs.
"What? No. I'm just going to hang out with Amelia." I said.
"My best friend from middle school." I said.
