"Oh my god! Stefan these pancakes are so delicious." I said, stuffing my face with Stefan's pancake.
"You live for 200 years, you learn a few things." he replied, making Damon roll his eyes.
"So Damon, is your friend coming or?" I asked.
"Her name is Maria, she's Italian by the way." Damon said, smirking.
"So she's a direct descendent of the first vampire of the world.. Great." Stefan said, almost sarcastically.
"And she's the first Born Vampire of the world." Damon added, still smirking.
"Okay so what's the big deal?" I asked, annoyed by Damon and his weird smirk.
"Born vampires are already snobby enough, now add a direct descendant of the first vampire ever, and the first born vampire.. It's snobby-ness overload." Stefan said, rolling his eyes. "Damon how do you even know her?"
"Let's just say during the 1800's we met, and it was a fun night." Damon replied, wiggling his eyebrows.
I continued to eat my delicious Stefan pancakes, while Damon and Stefan talked about some stuff.
"Hello Salvatore brothers, and human." I heard a female voice say.
I looked up to see a tall and skinny girl with short black hair, very big eyes and really thick eyebrows.
"Hi I'm Emma." I introduced myself.
"Maria, but I'm only here because my good friend Damon invited me. No time for chit-chat, let's see your damn arm." Maria said, pulling my arm without my consent.
"Well that's definitely what you think it is, the world has lost balance. But it's is an empty circle, therefore not all creatures of the dead are returning. If the whole circle was colored, that would mean that the entire world has lost it's balance. So I'm guessing only the creatures who have died recently will be making a comeback." Maria explained.
"Alright, do you know any specific types of creatures that will be making a comeback?" Stefan asked.
"Why should I tell you?" Maria snorted, smirking. Ugh, what is up with people and smirking.
"Maria honey, be nice." Damon said, in our defense.
"Fine. The living side has Vampires, Werewolves, Shapeshifters and that's all there is known as of now. They join the dead side after their death, so that's some of the creatures that might make a comeback which isn't much to worry about because we know what their powers are. But most of them either reproduce and make hybrids, or adapt and change on the dead side." Maria explained. "When I went to the dead side there were obviously Ghosts, but there were also so many different creatures that the livings would never even dream about."
"Well tell us.." Stefan said, curiously.
"There are Sirens who're hybrids of Vampires and Shapeshifters, beautiful women who lure men and kill them for food. There's Manticores, a beast with a lion's body and a human head, hybrids of shapeshifters and werewolves. That was back in the 1400's, when I last visited. I'm sure there are many new creatures roaming the dead side now." Maria stated, getting up from her seat.
"Wait, wait. How is Emma related to this at all? She's a human who got a supernatural symbol on her arm." Stefan asked.
"I don't know. My guess is she's some kind of supernatural as well, but the answer you seek cannot be found through me." Maria said, vanishing within seconds.
"That can't be right, I'm a human for sure." I said, but deep down I wasn't sure anymore.
"The world's an unexpected place Emma, you can never be too sure." Damon said, raising his eyebrow.
"But even if she was a supernatural being, why her? Why not you?" Stefan asked looking at Damon, putting his hand through his hair.
I could tell he was frustrated for not having the answer to this.
"We'll need to dig around some more. We don't know if she's truly safe from other supernaturals." Damon said, more seriously now.
"What?" I asked scared, what did he mean if I'm truly safe?
"Damon stop scaring her, and help us instead." Stefan said, clearly annoyed.
Wow. Two days and I had already met three vampires. Two days and I had discovered not just vampires, but werewolves and ghosts are all real. Two days and I realized I never truly knew Stefan at all.
"Emma come upstairs, we're gonna dig around and find out why you're involved in this." Stefan said. "And don't worry alright, I won't let anything happen to you." he added, kissing my forehead.
