Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.
Ugh. I hate Monday mornings almost as much as I hate Math. However I was a bit excited to see Stefan today. I hadn't seen him all day yesterday, and Saturday we spent worrying more than having fun. Was it a bit pathetic of me to think my High School Crush and I would end up becoming that ideal teen couple, after everything that happened? I mean who even goes back to normal after discovering your crush is a vampire and every dead supernatural is after you? But yet here I was, wanting to go to homecoming games, and prom with Stefan. I guess my mind is abnormal. But hey, then again I'm a once-every-500-years occurring human, so I guess I have somewhat of an excuse to be abnormal. While thinking about everything that happened on Saturday, I didn't notice that I was already in school. Great. Chemistry with Damon.
I walked into class, a bit surprised that I felt disappointment when I saw Damon's seat empty. I couldn't help but feel a little uneasy feeling in my gut. Was something wrong? Just as I was finally starting to sink into my normal human habitat, the teacher stopped speaking mid-sentence. I followed her eyes, which was looking towards the door, which was open.
A tall guy wearing a black shirt was standing there, resting on the side of the door frame He knocked once, and stepped in. His hair was so perfectly messy and dark, just like his aura. Dark. That's what came to mind when I first saw him. His olive skin was perfectly smooth and almost looked air brushed. His T-shirt was a V-neck black shirt, with short sleeves that seemed to fit tightly on his broad, muscular arms. Every simple movement he made seemed so significant that you couldn't help but not look. The entire class was watching him in silence. Even the teacher was in awe.
"Hi I'm Ethan. I'm new to this school.. I have no idea if I'm in the right class." the new guy whose name was Ethan, said.
"Oh okay, let me take a look at your schedule honey." Ms. Doyle stated. "Ethan Dolan.. I'm Ms. Doyle by the way. Chemistry Period 1, you're in the right class! Uh.. just have a seat in front of Emma- Emma raise your hand. And try to just take notes for now, I'll help you with everything after class."
"Alright, thanks." Ethan replied, walking towards my direction. Not that he had a choice.
"Emma can you help him copy all the notes he's missed up to now? Starting from the unit we just recently started on Friday. Thank you." Ms. Doyle spoke, very kindly, which I knew was to impress the new kid.
I nodded, and started flipping through my notes from Friday trying to spot the most important ones for Ethan to copy. He turned around and gave me a smile from the corner of his lips. He then took out his pen from his jeans pocket.
"I'm so sorry but I need another favor.. Emma?" he said, unsure of what my name was.
"You need paper?" I guessed, noticing he didn't have a school bag with him.
"Yea that.." he replied, chuckling nervously as he put his hand on the back of his neck.
"Here," I said handing him two looseleaf papers since notes in Chemistry took more than one. "I'll tell you which ones are the most important so you won't have to copy everything. You'll catch up quick."
"Wow really? Awesome. Thanks, you're too kind." he said looking at me in astonishment. Was being nice really that rare nowadays?
"No problem." I said, pointing to the sentences he should copy.
As he took his time copying, I looked around the room. Half the girls were eyeing me with envy written all over their face. It wasn't my fault Damon was absent on this particular day. Plus I didn't even think about the new guy- Ethan, in that way. I was with Stefan. My one and only Stefan. That thought made me smile, so foolishly that Ethan looked up noticing it. He flashed another smile, but this time it was more of an adorable goofy one rather than a sexy smirk.
"Hey I don't mean to be annoying, but I need your help.. again. Last time, I promise." he said, after he finished copying all the notes.
"Yea, okay.." I replied nervously.
"Would you help me find my next class? I would bother someone else, but you seem very helpful. And you're the only person whose name I know in this entire school." he requested, his eyes screaming of desperateness. I knew what it was like to be new, in a place with unknown faces. It was overwhelming.
"Of course. And you also know Ms. Doyle who seems very desperate to help you." I joked, earning a chuckle from Ethan.
"Not my type." he replied, turning his back to me to face the board.
I wonder what his type was. He seems like an easy person to talk to, but I can't imagine a regular girl having the confidence to talk to him without stuttering. He probably never runs out of options, so to be desired by him I can't imagine what type of girl that would be. Not that I was interested in him, but I felt like him and I would be very good friends. I'll admit it surprised me how I wasn't attracted to him in that way. I guess my feelings for Stefan were stronger than I anticipated.
