If he could prove that his design could work he would make a lot of money thus helping lotus build the fastest racing car in the world. In the meantime he would carry on helping his father in the restaurant.
It was eleven thirty when the restaurant closed and Rosina helped her brother clear the tables and tidy up before heading home with Dawn who had enjoyed her evening.
“Straight to bed when you get in young lady; said Jim as they parked the car in the drive.’ “Yes daddy; Dawn opened the door then went straight to her room she put on he pyjamas and got into bed. She wrote in her diary for ten minutes before her father and Rosina came to wish her good night.
“You have your tutor coming a ten o’clock tomorrow so get some sleep princess.’
“Good night sweet heart.’
He closed the door a little then went to his own room.’
“Your father seemed to like Dawn didn’t he?’
“He was more interested in Doreen Laws Hart I thought; replied Rosina with an eye of suspicion.’
They both got into bed and lay talking for awhile in the darkness of the room before sleep got the better of them.
Gordon woke with a crick in his neck after falling from the table onto the floor drunk the night before. He massaged it with his hand and rotated his neck trying to rid himself of the pain. It was a good job that he didn’t have any lectures until later that afternoon. He went to his room and undressed then stepped into a hot shower. After which he felt better. He heard Mary his cleaner let herself in and she immediately ran the tap in the sink to wash the dishes from last night’s meal.
He dressed quickly and came down stairs to find Mary had made him some coffee.’
“Morning Mr Hart.’
“Did you have a late night last night then; you look tired if you don’t mind me saying.’
“You could say that yes Mary; I was up pretty late marking.’
“You cannot burn the candle at both ends you know Mr Hart, it will catch up with you eventually.
Gordon nodded as he took a drink from the percolated coffee that Mary had made him.’
“Would you be wanting some breakfast Mr Hart; I’m sure I could knock you up some scrambled eggs on toast?’ Mary was from Dublin in Ireland and still spoke with an Irish accent even though she’d lived in Whitley bay some twenty five years.’
“No thank you Mary I will be going out; but you could do me a big favour.’
“What is it you’d be wanting Mr Hart?’
“I have some of Doreen’s clothes in the garage, Mrs Sheila Hamil from the Church of the Good Shepherd is coming to pick them up later could you give her a hand with them. There are quite a few bags there.’
