Is there an estate agency around here Rosina?’

“Yes there’s one on Bedford Street why do you ask?

“I want to look at a property for my grand parents.’

“Your father already bought his grand parents a house in Whitley bay.’

“I wasn’t talking about my fathers parents Rosina; I meant my mother’s parents who are living in squalor.’

“Oh I see said Rosina.’

They headed up Bedford Street until they found the estate agents and went in. Dawn sat down with Rosina and a young woman came to serve them.’

“Can I help you?’

“Yes, said Dawn with some authority in her voice. I would like to look at two bedroom bungalows in North Shields please.’

“You are a little young to be buying a house may I say.’

“It is not for me it is for my grandparents.’

“Well I don’t think your saving in your piggy bank would cover the cost somewhat Miss?’

“Dawn Gales is my name and don’t under estimate me Miss Connolly; Dawn replied reading the name on her jacket.

“Well we have several properties for sale Miss Gales she swallowed hard before continuing’ how much were you thinking of spending.’

“That depends on the property and how much the owners are selling it for.’

“You’re a clever girl for your age Miss Gales.’

Deborah Connolly placed a portfolio on the table and showed her some properties that had recently come onto the market.

Dawn scanned the pages until she saw a nice house with a nice little garden with benches and a wooden conservatory joined to the property. It was on Claremont Road near Preston Hospital.’ How much is this property Miss Connolly?

“Well that one is twelve thousand pounds but we have cheaper ones for sale.’

Please ring the owners of this house and offer them ten thousand pounds.’

“With respect Miss Gales that is two thousand less than the asking price.’

“Tell them I will pay cash for it and will make it available today unless he will take a cheque for the amount.’

Just a moment Miss Gales I will ring the owner now.’

Deborah rang the number and waited for an answer.’

Hello Mr Hallshaw, yes it’s Deborah Connolly from Radnor James here.

“I have a young lady with me who wants to make an offer on the property that you currently have for sale.’

“Go a head Miss Connolly I’m listening said John Hallshaw.’

“Well, the young lady is prepared to offer you ten thousand pounds for it.’

“Ridiculous, you know I want twelve thousand pounds for the property.’

“She knows that sir but is willing to pay you cash or pay you today by cheque if it is agreeable.’

“There was a long silence.
