Breaking the chain

Heather Reid a sixteen year old girl is found collapsed in Howdon - she has run away from her home on West Percy road North Shields, because she is pregnant. She is taken to Willington Quay Maternity hospital where upon she gives birth to a baby Girl that she names Dawn because the dawn was breaking when she was giving birth. After complications set in Heather dies of Toxaemia and her father will not bring up a bastard child. Dawn is adopted by two university lecturers - follow her story as her real father seeks her out and a court battle ensues. this is a tragic story that will have you reading until the end.

“What about that two hundred thousand signing on fee daddy?’

“That will be taken care of Dawn and don’t worry if you need any money there’s plenty that you can access.’

“Can I go to the bank and draw out twenty pounds?’

“You can draw a thousand pounds if you so wish.’

“No I don’t need that much but I would like to buy my other dad something nice as it’s his birthday on Saturday.’

Rosina said that she would drive her into town later and she could buy her father something nice.’

Now what we will have to do is sort you a tutor who will be able to come three times a week and give you lessons because you will not be able to go back to school now.’

“Why is that?’

“Because when your single comes out you will be mobbed and there is also some nasty people out there Dawn who might take you away.’

“I never thought that being a pop singer could be so dangerous until now.’

“It can be a cruel world out there Dawn remember that said Richard.’

Rosina made Dawn some toast and gave her a bowl of her favourite cereal before she went upstairs to change.’

“She put on a long flower patterned dress because the sun was shining outside. She wore a pair of Jesus sandals and her hippy hat. She put her sunglasses in a straw shoulder bag with a large sunflower in the middle of it. When she was ready she ran down the stairs to meet Rosina who was putting on her denim jacket she placed the sunglasses on her face then kissed Jim before leaving.

“Don’t be long princess we have lots of work to do.’ Here.’ you will need this.’

He handed her a bank book and she took it then opened the page and her eyes widened as she saw the figure.’

“Daddy there’s half a million pounds here.’

There will be a few grand in interest as well as I took it out for you four years ago.

Then there is you two hundred grand that will go in once Richard here sorts this contract out. “You are now a very wealthy young woman. “ Spend it wisely.’

“Thank you daddy, I will.’ she ran and kissed him and hugged him tight.’

They headed out to the car then Rosina started the engine and they drove away.

“I want to buy both my dads something nice and you too Rosina.’

“Well we will go to the bank first then I will take you wherever you want to go.’

They drove into North Shields and stopped outside of Lloyds bank.

“Can I speak with the manager please said Dawn.’

“Yes certainly said the cashier as he got up from his seat and went to speak with his boss.

Shortly after a tall man approached and asked how he could help.

“I would like a thousand pounds in cash please.’

“The man laughed then joked; do you think we are made of money Miss.’

“No, but I am; so are you going to give me the money or not.’

She handed him her bank book and the manager nearly lost his eyes.’

“Yes Miss Gales he choked; please wait a moment.’

She signed the withdrawal slip then the money was given to her,’
