“Why did you ask then mother; look I’m going to my room and I’m going to ring Jim is that alright.’

“Well I’d rather that you did your homework; plus you haven’t practiced on your piano for days now.’

“Mother, will you stop fussing; I’m going to change out of this school uniform and put my jeans on does that meet with your approval.’

“There’s no need to be rude Dawn.’

Dawn ran up stairs then took off her uniform and hung it over the wardrobe door and slid into her Flares then she put on a vest that had a tie dyed pattern on it and sat on her bed.

She picked up the phone and dialled the number that Jim had given her.

“Hello it’s me Dawn she said after Jim answed the call.’

“You know the press were at the school gates today asking questions but I told them nothing.’

“That’s fine Honey; look you tell them what you like, I’m not ashamed to tell them you’re my daughter.’

“My mother is concerned though.’

“I see; it will all blow over soon you’ll see.’ By the way I got your photos back today; you want to see then Dawn, they are spectacular.’

“Did you; I wish I could come around and see them.’

“I’m going to get them framed for you.’ I hope you don’t mind but I got two copies of each. I’ve been showing them to a guy I know at the Laing Art gallery and he wants to put an exhibition on of your work. Have you any more in which we can use.’

“Yes I have lots of them.’

“Good dig them out for me Dawn with the negatives and I will get them enlarged for you.’

“Will you Jim that’s super.’

“I cannot wait.’

“I will Jim; bye

“Bye Princess.’

Dawn put down the phone and ran down stairs to tell her mother about the photos and the exhibition.’

“Dawn, you are too young. This is just your biological father trying to gain publicity for himself; I won’t allow it.’

“I wish you would stop calling him my biological father you make him sound as if I was manufactured in some laboratory. He never says that you are my adoptive parents.’

“What is wrong with you Dawn, since you met your real father you have changed and not for the better either I might add?’

“You have too mother; You see Jim as a threat somewhat and he isn’t like that at all.’

“He is kind and gentle and he is trying to be a father to me if only you would let him.’
