Gordon lit the gas then placed some lard in the pan and fried off some bacon. He took out the crusty loaf and cut four generous slices then added the bacon then topped them with some button mushrooms and added brown sauce.

“There you go Dylan; my favourite lunch meal.’

Dylan bit into the sandwich and licked his lips. “Lovely boy, lovely.’

Gordon stirred the teapot then brought out two man sized pots.’

“Where did you get those from?’

I bought them down from Llandudno the last time I was there. I thought they would come in handy.’

“They are that, now we can have a proper cup of tea.’

Gordon waited until the tea had stood under the tea cosy for five minute before pouring out the PG tips through a strainer. The dark coloured liquid turned dark brown and Gordon spooned in three sugars in each then handed it over to his father in law.’

“My boy you make a good brew said Dylan as he took a large drink from the pint pot.’

“When we have drunk our tea then we will rotivate the plot and get those cabbage cauliflower and sprouts in.’

“I have broccoli and kale to put out as well.’

“We will plant the lot before we go in I tell you.’

The two men chatted away about gardening all after noon as they worked together.

This would have taken me a few days to plant out and we have dug filled, rotivated, and planted all in one day.’

“Many hands make light of work.’

When they were finished both men looked over the perfectly straight lines of crops that they’d planted. Gordon watered them in with a fine hose attachment then cleaned all the tools and put them away. They sat out for an hour until the sun went down and darkness began to fall upon the garden. “Let’s go in said Gordon as they took off their boots and overalls. “ A nice shower I think don’t you Gordon said Dylan.’

“You read my mind.’

Both men went to their rooms and undressed then stepped into the reviving hot water.

Dylan put on a pair of grey trousers, tee shirt, and a blue coloured golfing jumper.

Gordon wore his dark brown trousers, white shirt, and a red v necked sweater.

“Well I think we earned a pint Dylan don’t you.’ Looks like Alwen and Tracey have gone to Dawns for dinner.’

“She knows what we are like once we get stuck into the garden.’

“I will ring her and ask her to meet us at “The Beehive” Gordon picked up the phone and spoke with Tracey then hung up and went out to the car.’

“Did you speak with Tracey then?’

“Yes they are all going to meet us down there in the restaurant because Dawn will not be allowed in the bar. We can eat there as they have already had dinner.

Tracey said that she rang to tell us we were invited but we didn’t hear the phone.’

“Good job too or we wouldn’t have finished.’

Dylan got into the car and said to Gordon, do you know how Tracey got her name?’

“No she never told me.’

“Well my wife is a big fan of the actor Spencer Tracey so if we’d had another boy he would have been called Spencer. But we had a girl.’

“I’m pleased you did.’

“Me too she is my life you know; next to my lovely that is. Alwen is my rock and I do not know what I would do without her.’
