More Then Us

"Austin my first love, who was here one day and then gone the next. I remember not understand why he had just gone, no goodbyes, same with his family; it like they were never here. I had always been the four of us, I, Holly, Mandy, and Austin. From first grade all the way up to the summer after freshman. I and Austin had started going out at the end of freshman year. Then about a year after, he disappeared I got this postcard all it said was “una pequeña muestra de mi amor - Austin” witch means a small token of my love; Austin. It was the only one I got, no return address or anything. It’s been years sence the last time I had seen him."

1. Wedding

Two little words changed my life forever "I do" and it didn't even come from my lips.

Light pink flowers covered everything in sight. This was the last place I wanted to be, I would rather be in the boys gym room at school, where you can smell the smell eight lockers down the hall. At less something good came from, other than happiness for the new husband and wife. I get to go to Mexico. Get my own room and my two best friends' get to come. It's not that I'm not happy that my mom has found new love, I'm really happy. I'm just not in the mood for the whole wedding thing. It's fall and everyone are dressed in dresses and stuff, it's freezing out!

Love, I never understood it... And don't get me started on the colors for the wedding yellow and pink. It's not that I don't like those colors, I do pink's one of my favorites; it's just seems like there has been a lot of weddings with those colors. Also, I'm not even sure there's any food I'm will to eat here, other than the cake. I don't eat meat, but yet that's all there having. As the first kiss as the new husband and wife ended, the clapping and yelling began. As I look out to the sea of people I spot Mandy, one of my best friend who's coming to Mexico with me.  Looking around for my other best friend but don't see her about.

"Where's Holly?" I mouth to Mandy.

Mandy mouthed "Don't know!"

As people thinned out I finally made my way to Mandy.

"You don't think she ran off with Trevor do you?" Trevor was Holly's ex. But nothing would keep her from wanting him back, even after he has cheated on her more than once. The only reason there not together is because if us, Mandy and I. As we looked around we see her; but not with Trevor but stuck with my grandma. She gives me a pleading look, a save me now. Mandy and I can help but start giggling as we make our way through the group of people.

"Grandma!" I say as I wrapping my arms around her.

"Oh, my dear Sammy is this wedding beautiful or what?"

Or what, "Yes, it's wonderful."

"Well let's go eat shall we?" Holly and I take my Grand's arms walking her over to the table where her name is next to the new husband and wife. Jess my mother's new husband, my step dad, brought over some food for my Grandma. Jess as light blond hair and brown eyes. He makes my mom happy and takes care of my Grandma; so he's all right with me.

"Sammy I know you don't eat meat, so there's a whole area at the end that of the second table that has no meat." Jess said placing his hand on my shoulder. Taken aback; didn't even think they thought about that.

"Thank you."

"Shall we go get some food?" Mandy said eyeing the cod fish. Gross...

As we walk away, I can't help but think someone's watching us. I turn to see Adam, Holly's twin brother, looking at us.

"Why is your brother looking at us?"

"I think he likes one of you."

"Really?" said Mandy

"Yeah."

After, we ate it was time for cake. After they cut their cake; it was my time to give a speech. I stand up, feeling like I was going to be sick. My mother know I hated talking in front of people, that's why I got a C in speech. My hands began to shake. I felt all the eyes of the room fall on me.

"Weeks after weeks I worked on this speech but nothing seemed right, to fit. Just like my mom and Jess but somehow it does work, somehow we all understand. Hand in hand are my mom and Jess. They go together like black and white, sand and water, sun in a sunset. Jess takes care of my mother and Grandma; I could never be happier because of it. So, I wish and hope for many, many, many years of happiness filled with love."

It wasn't the best speech, long, or even that good but my mom had tears in her eyes and that's what I was hoping for. Clapping can from all around, as I sat back down, I being to think maybe this isn't as bad as I thought. As the night went on dance, laughing, and photos to last a lifetime was all you could see. My two best friends and I took so many photos together and danced the night away. I even let Jess snatch a dance from me and took a photo with him and then one of just my mom and I; then one of all of us together as the new family.

It's finally time to leave. We're heading to Mexico in the morning. As the wedding gifts are load the happy couple and I start to head home. As we got home, it's not odd having Jess there he moved in about a year ago, shortly after that he asked my mom to merrier her.

"Sweetie, thank you for everything. We had the best wedding ever, the best night ever."

"You're welcome."

"Do you want to help us open our gifts; we put a few things on the list for you; DVD player, iPod, new laptop, and a few other things."

"Really, But why?"

"This wedding wasn't just for your mom and me. It's was for us, to show that we are now a family."

"Thanks." I said I couldn't help but smile.

We put all the gifts into the living room. Laughter, smiles, and a huge mess is what we had at the end. That night I end up with a new laptop, iPod, bedding, two-hundred dollars, DVD player and so many gifts set. I couldn't believe my mom and Jess did this for me. Now that makes seven hundred dollars for Mexico.

I fall asleep right away but I do remember I was looking at the postcard from Austin my first love then one day was gone. I remember not understand why he had just gone, no goodbyes, same with his family; it like they were never here. I had always been the four of us, Holly, Mandy, Austin and me. From first grade all the way up to the summer after freshman. I and Austin had started going out at the start of freshman year. Then about a year after he disappeared I got this postcard all it said was "una pequeña muestra de mi amor - Austin" witch means a small token of my love. It was the only one I got, no return address or anything. It's been four years from the last time I had seen him.
