The Opposite of Attraction

Ever since grade four Damon and Sophia have been sworn enemies.

Now it's senior year and they're still throwing insult after insult at each other. Everyone knows that when they're in the same room all hell will break loose. Even the teachers knew not to put them in the same class.

Well at least all but one. Mr. Willis being the crazy teacher he is purposely choose these two to be in the same class. Everyone said that them being in the same room for a year would be a disaster waiting to happen.

What they all didn't expect was for Damon and Sophia to grow closer than ever.

12. 12

I was in full on panic mode as I drove back to school.

Damon saw me.

Now that he saw me he will eventually ask me why I was there, and when I tell him some lame excuse he will see right through me and keep asking until I gave him the truth.

He couldn't find out about Tori, then he would know one of my greatest weaknesses.

I could already imagine what life would be like if he found out about Tori.

First he would laugh at me and pretend to feel bad for me. Then he would tell the whole school.

And knowing Damon, he'd probably bend the truth and tell everyone I did something to my sister to put her in the hospital.

Then everyone would hate me and Damon would win most popular for sure.

Life would suck, I'd get depressed, I'd start failing school because I didn't want to go and be harassed everyday by the people that once looked up to me.

And when I fail school I won't be able to get into a good college, then I'll have to get a job at McDonalds.

I'll move into a tiny, rundown apartment that won't have electricity due to the little money I get from my job, and by that point I'll be single because no guy would ever date a girl with no money.

So I'll die alone in my tiny apartment and no one will ever notice I'm gone because they'll still think I hurt Tori so bad she had to be hospitalized.

BEEEEEEP

I jumped when I heard the loud car horn of the car behind me.

Why the hell did they honk at me?

I looked around for any reason they would honk at me, and noticed the light was green, and I wasn't going.

Wow, people are so impatient!

I started driving again so the people behind me wouldn't honk anymore.

The whole honking incident that just happened took my mind off of the fact that Damon saw me at the hospital, which I was grateful for.

So the rest of the drive back to school was peaceful and relaxing.

I didn't need to worry about seeing Damon until tomorrow anyways right? So why panic today?

I pulled into the school parking lot just as the bell signalling the end of lunch rang.

I hopped out of my car and rushed off to class so I wasn't late.

Thankfully luck was on my side for once and I slid into class just as the late bell rang. Just on time.

Detention.

How could I forget about detention?

It was the end of the school day for everyone else except for me and anyone else that had detention.

Stupid Damon and his stupid talking in class that started our stupid argument that landed us in stupid detention.

Today was just stupid.

I was grumbling about how stupid school is as I walked to detention when a thought hit me, causing me to stop dead in my tracks in horror.

If Damon and I both have detention today, that meant that he would be in detention with me. Which meant he would have the chance to ask me why I was at the hospital earlier today.

Shit! Shit, shit, shit, shit, SHIT!

What did I do to deserve this?

All I wanted to do was go home and sleep, I was just so done with today, but no. Instead I have to go to detention and have Damon on my back about the whole hospital thing.

Life sucks.

I was doing some serious sulking as I walked into the detention room.

I looked around, desperately trying to find someone I could talk to the whole time so Damon wouldn't approach me.

But guess what? There was no one in the room besides the teacher.

I took a seat at the back corner of the room, dreading the moment when Damon walked through the door.

Moments later the devil himself entered the room.

Great.

He looked around, and smirked when he saw that it was only him and I.

Now I knew that he planned on interrogating me until he found out why I was at the hospital.

He made his way towards me, like a lion stalking its prey, and sat down right beside me.

"Well I guess it's just you two today, just sit and think about what you did wrong while I go get a snack." The teacher that always got stuck on detention duty said.

Then he picked up his belongings and practically ran out of the room.

"He's not coming back." Damon muttered, more to himself than me.

"How would you know? Maybe he's actually getting a snack." I blurted out.

I didn't want to start anything with him but it's like second nature to tell him he's wrong.

"I think I would know. I am here after school almost every day." he pointed out, rolling his eyes. Then he abruptly stood up, causing the chair he was previously sitting on to almost fall over.

I looked up at him in confusion.

"I'm getting out of here." He called over his shoulder as he made his way towards the door.

"What? That's not fair!" I exclaimed, quickly heading after him.

"Oh, you're stalking me now." He observed cockily.

"I'm not stalking you. But I'm not staying in detention alone, that's not fair." I defended myself.

"Well in that case, get in the car." He ordered, opening the passenger door to his car.

When did we get out here?

"What? No! Knowing you, you'll probably take me out to the woods and murder me!" I exclaimed in horror.

"I'm not gonna kill you, unfortunately I need you for our project. So just get in the car." he again ordered.

"Fine." I grumbled, sliding into the passenger seat.

He got in soon after and the we were off to wherever we were going. I really shouldn't have gotten in the car, I can't trust Damon!

Suddenly music filled the car and I immediately calmed down.

Music always did that to me.

'White lips, pale face.'

A team came on after some unknown song ended and my mood lifted. This is one of my all time favourite songs.

"This song sucks." Damon mumbled and tried to change it.

"No! Don't change it, its my favourite song!" I exclaimed, startling him with my loudness. He probably already forgot I was even in the car with him.

"Whatever." he grumbled, and went back to looking at the boring road straight ahead.

I smiled over at him even though he couldn't see, for once, he actually did something for me. Even if it was something as small as not turning my favourite song off.

About twenty minuets passed before we finally came to a stop. I got out and looked around.

A bowling alley? Why would he bring me here.

"I always come here after school." He suddenly said, probably noticing my confusion.

I nodded and followed him into the old building.

"Damon! I though you weren't gonna come today, where were you?" A guy sitting behind the counter where you got you shoes, exclaimed when we entered.

Damon smiled a genuine smile, which definitely surprised me.

"I had detention." He explained to the guy.

"When are you gonna learn?" the guy asked rhetorically.

Damon rolled his eyes while I giggled at the comment.

That caught the attention of the guy, and he finally noticed me.

"Who's she Damon? You never bring girlfriends here." The guy asked.

Damon opened his mouth like he was about to say something, but quickly shut it, then repeated that procedure again.

So I stepped in "I'm Sophia." I introduced, sticking my hand out for him to shake.

"I'm Tom." He introduced, smiling and shaking my hand.

Once we were done with our introductions we both turned to face Damon.

"If this is the same Sophia you claim to hate so much, why in the world did you bring her here?" Tom asked.

Oh so he talks about me behind my back.

"She was in detention with me, and when I ditched she followed me out so I just told her to get in the car. I'd rather drive her instead of her following me in her own car." Damon explained.

What a douche!

"Do you really think I'd follow you? Like that makes sense. I'd rather jump off a cliff than spend extra time with you. Why would I waste my time following you anyways?" I ranted.

"Because you secretly love me, duh."

I let out a humourless laugh. "In your dreams."

"Children, children, lets not argue. This bowling alley is a happy place, lets not disrupt the peace." Tom said, efficiently putting an end to our argument."

"Sorry." Damon and I muttered at the same time.

He let out a scoff while I rolled my eyes, it always pissed him off when we said the same thing, while I just find it amusing.

"Well, are you guys gonna go bowl or what?" Tom asked.

We both nodded and got bowling shoes, then we went to a lane.

"Prepare to lose." Damon said cockily.

Little did he know, I use to bowl all the time, and I got pretty good at it.

I just smiled at him and grabbed a ball.

I rolled the ball down the lane and hit all the pins but two.

When I turned around to get another ball Damon still had that cocky smirk on his face.

I rolled the ball down the lane and hit the two pins that were left.

"Not bad, a spare." Damon muttered cockily as he walked passed me to take his turn.

Let me just say his cocky attitude was all an act, he got a gutter ball the first time, and three pins the second time.

"Wow, you're great at this. I'm totally gonna lose." I teased and I walked by him to take my turn.

"I'm just taking it easy on you!" He called back to me.

This time I got a strike.

I'm so winning this.

- - - - - -

I won, by a lot. He didn't even hit 90 points, while I was over 200.

And boy was he mad.

"I really though you would be good at bowling, since you go to the bowling alley all the time." I teased, as he drove us home.

"Shut up." was his genius reply.

"Make me." I shot back.

He just grumbled stuff under his breath in reply.

Thankfully I didn't have to deal with him any longer since he pulled onto our street.

"Can you drive like a man and hurry up, I want to get home today you know." I ordered, causing him to slam down on the gas petal to show me that he could in fact drive like a man.

"That's better." I muttered to no one in particular.

A minuet later we were pulling into his driveway.

I practically jumped out of my car and ran home. I'm so done with today.

I've been so unlucky today, but luck was on my side when it came to hanging out with Damon, since he never asked me why I was at the hospital today.

So for tonight I could go to sleep peacefully.
