Misplaced Love

Alex used to be as happy as he could be, until he put all his love into one person. Will Alex get through this, or will his heart be forever broken?

11. Never Let You Go

I stayed the night at Sandra's. She slept in her room and I slept on the couch. I was sound asleep and then I felt arms around me. I opened my eyes to see Sandra hugging me.

 "Are you okay?" I asked.

 "I want cuddles." She said.

I laughed and pulled her close and cuddled her.

 She closed her eyes.

I held her close to me.

"Don't ever leave." I whispered and kissed her forehead.

"I don't plan to." She smiled.

   My cheeks turned red.

"I thought you were asleep." I said, blushing.

 She kissed me.

"You're cute, you know that?" She smiled.

I laughed and stared in her eyes.

"I never understood why you stare in my eyes." She laughed.

"They're like art. Beautiful, interesting, they have stories and meanings." I smiled.

  She blushed and cuddled me.

 I rubbed her back.

"I could lay like this forever." She smiled.

  "Please do."

She kissed my cheek and closed her eyes.

The next morning, I opened my eyes to see Sandra staring at me and smiling.

  I smiled and kissed her.

 "Good morning beautiful." I smiled.

"Good morning cutie." She blushed.

As the months passed, her stomach got bigger and bigger.

"Is this the ring you'd like?" The man asked and handed it to me.

It was absolutely beautiful, almost as beautiful as Sandra.

  "Yes sir."

As soon as I got home, I hid the ring in my pocket. Honestly, I was scared to death that this relationship would end like the last. Sandra was amazing and I didn't want to lose her, and I wanted to be with her every night and day. Sandra deserved someone to settle down with her, not wait 15 years, and I wanted to be that someone.

I walked inside. Sandra was on the couch.

"Sandra, I was wondering if you'd like to go to the park tonight." I smiled.

  "Of course." She smiled.

As the night approached, I got everything ready.

We walked to the park, holding hands.

"Let's play hide and seek." I said.

 She laughed and nodded.

"I'll hide. You count to twenty." I smiled and kissed her.

She closed her eyes and I rushed inside the building.

I got on one knee and waited behind the door.

As Sandra opened the door, I smiled.

 "Oh my gosh." She smiled.

"Sandra, I won't lie, I'm scared to death. But I'd die for you. I don't know where I'd be without you and I never want to figure that out. I want to be there to cuddle you every night, to wipe your tears, and to kiss your lips. There are days when I know you don't want to go on, and I want to be there to keep you going." I said.

I could see her eyes tearing up.

  "I love you Sandra."

  "I love you, too."

"I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you do me the honor of being my wife?" I asked.

"Of course I will. Only if you do me the honor of being my husband." She smiled, with tears rolling down her cheeks.

I stood up and kissed her.

We stared into each other's eyes.

I held both of her hands.

"You know, before I met you, I never thought I'd be happy again." I smiled.

I held her hands close to my heart.

"I never want anybody but you." She blushed.

I held her close.

 "Alex?" She whispered.

"Don't break my heart. Don't choose anybody over me. Be mine forever." She whispered.

"I would never break your heart. There is nobody I'd rather be with. Ever since I met you, I've learned some things." I said.

   "Like what?"

"Well, for one, there's nobody out there that is better for me than you. I learned that when something is meant to be,  you'll know. And lastly, I learned how to love again."
