“What happened to half an hour?

“We had to dry our hair and try and make it look presentable you know Ronnie.’ It’s easy for you two you only need to dry it with towel.’

Roger had sat and made a list of boots, clothing, and food that they would need for next Friday.

Have you got a rucksack Brenda?

“My dad has one that I can use.’

“Good, bring it along with some waterproofs and plenty of dry woollen socks because you will need them.’

Roger went to the café and bought them all tea and a sandwich. Brenda gave him ten pounds and told him to take it as he’d spent enough on her last night and she wanted to pay something.’

The burgers with onions were nice especially with lots of tomato ketchup.’

Ronnie had his down his neck in less than a minute.’ He drank his tea then sat back satisfied.

“It doesn’t take you long does it?’

Ann in the field you have to eat quickly and be on the move isn’t that right sir.’

“Sir you call him sir?’

“Yes, Roger is the leader; he has always taken charge.’

“Well next Friday my friend you will be leading from the front; get clued up before we go.’

“We are not going to get lost in the woods are we said Ann?’

“No I will be on hand to keep him right don’t worry but he has to learn to think for himself.

Now the three peaks that we will be climbing can be found on your computer so check them out. Ron you can also look for camp sites and get back to me and I will let you know if they are suitable. We will be moving after the first night I expect so everything has to be packed away neatly. No rubbish or food has to be left behind us. That’s the country code.’

“You can tell that he’s been a Boy Scout cant you; now you know how I feel?’

The girls all laughed at Ronnie’s comment.’

When they had all finished they picked up their rubbish and placed it in the bins provided then Roger placed the girl’s bag with the wet towels and costumes into his head bag and carried it. They took the bus back home and Roger told Brenda that they would not see each other until next Friday at six o’clock on the other side of the road. Make sure that you make a check list and tick it off as you pack it away then you won’t forget anything.’ Roger gave the girls their bag back then kissed Barbara before heading home.
