“Cheers mate, said Ronnie.’

Come over here you and we will get you started.’

Ronnie took off his coat and hung it up then sat in the chair. Ann placed an apron around Ronnie’s head then asked him what style that he wanted. Well not too short can you tidy it up for me.

“Ill see what I can do for you said Ann.

Brenda had finished the woman she was doing then took payment. The woman gave her a two pound tip then left.

“Come on then soldier let’s be having you.’

“Roger walked over and took off his coat he was wearing a navy coloured jumper over a pair of 501 jeans and his training shoes.

“You look nice she said and what’s your story?

“Story, I have no story I came to see you and get my hair cut at the same time. I thought we might go for lunch somewhere.’

“I like your honesty Roger said Brenda smiling at him in the mirror as she placed the apron over his head.

“I guess you would like your hair cut short?’

“Pretty much, do you like men with short hair?

“Do you mean do I like you; then the answer is yes I do?’

Roger smiled back at her as she combed his hair then used a spray to dampen it down before snipping away with a pair of sharp scissors.

“How long do you get for lunch then?’

“An hour but Marlene is alright if we take an hour and a quarter.’

Good, we will meet you outside of Station Hotel.’

“I like a man who is confident said Brenda she took the shears and began taking the hair off his neck and tapering it.

Ronnie was in deep conversation with Ann and the two of them were laughing away.

When Brenda had finished she removed the apron and brushed the hair onto the floor.

Roger gave her ten pounds and she went into the till then gave him two five pound notes change. She looked at him then winked.

When Ronnie was finished Ann didn’t take payment for his hair either.

“See you in half an hour then said Roger as they left.’
