61. Chapter Sixty One

Natalia's POV

"Good afternoon everyone. As you well know, today is our last day for the summer. I want to wish all of you seniors good luck in college next year and to continue your hopes and dreams. Everyone else, I hope you have a great summer. I hope you all stay safe, and we'll be seeing the majority of you next year." Mr. Lionel announced. The last day of school is always the best, and always will be. Students stand in the hallway, visit teachers, have parties and just relax. Upstairs in the intersecting hallway, students played ping pong, others played tag, hide-and-seek, hangman. Others sat in the library going on their phones, playing computer games, or just talking to their friends that were in there. It's quite the attraction to see, actually.

Jason and I sat in the hallway, fingers interlocked with each other, and my head laying on his shoulder. "We're seniors, Jase," I whispered.

"Crazy, right?" Jason, of course, passed his junior year by the skin of his teeth. He had one A, and that was in History. Everything else, he passed with a seventy-five, which meant he had passed all of his classes for the year. "We have a busy weekend ahead of us." He said, playing with my fingers.

"I know. So, who's going on this trip again?"

"Your family, Bria and Addison, Adelaide can't go because the baby is sick. And then Jackson and Nick. Christina and her sisters, Amber, Poppy. And of course, Aunt Sally and Uncle Mike."

"Did I ever meet uncle mike?"

"You may have. He has a long beard, kinda looks like a pedophile. Unless he shaved it off. Bri told me he shaved a little."

"That's great to know, seeing as my five year old little sister will be coming with us."

"And, the best part about everything... We don't have to pay for a thing.

"Why?"

"My aunt has her perks of being a travel agent." I looked at him. "Okay, she paid for everything. We get out own room, the penthouse at the hotel. While the families get suits on the floor beneath us." I've come to realize just how wealthy Jason's family is. Between the Hampton's House and the trip to Miami, the money obviously isn't a problem for them.

"I hate how your aunt is paying for everything."

"She wanted to do it. She wants to meet your parents, so she claims. I told her it wasn't necessary, but she said it was an essential."

"Yo, lovebirds," Jackson said, standing in front of us. "We're about to leave this hell hole, you ready?"

"Yeah." Jason replied standing up.

"It's not a hell hole, it's..." Jason pulled me up from the ground, and steadied me. "It's school."

"Exactly. Hellhole." Jackson said.

"School isn't a hell hole. It should be a second home."

"A second home? More like solitary prison."

"Alright, enough. You both have different aspects of school, we got it." Jason huffed.

"What crawled up your ass?"

"He probably didn't get any last night, due to his drunk ass." Nick chimed in, pushing my shoulder.

"No, he's just hungry. He didn't eat anything today."

"Because he ate last night." Jackson teased.

"That was good!" Nick exclaimed.

"You guys are sick. And for your information, I think I should be the full one." I said, walking off, leaving all of the boys wide-eyed. Including Jason.

"Oh, sweet, sweet Panera bread, how I missed you." Amber said as she slurped her soup.

"You're weird." I said, stabbing my lettuce with my fork.

"You know, I try really hard to be weird. And I think talking to my soup is the best way to go." I laughed.

"So, how's you and Jack?"

"It's good. He officially asked me to be his girlfriend, so yeah. And yeah, it's going well." She replied with a nod.

"And he's treating you right and everything?"

"Like a princess. He came over last weekend. Oh my god, Lia, he-"

"no details please!"

"I was going to say, he makes great eggs and sausage, because he made me breakfast. What dirty mind you have."

"I'm sorry that I don't want to hear what goes on behind closed doors between you two."

"You're gonna be hearing it on this vacation."

"Oh, I know. But we'll be louder." I smirked, causing her jaw to drop.

"I have never, and I don't want to ever hear you say that again." I laughed and took a bite of my sandwich.

"But seriously, he's treating you right?"

"Yes." She replied.

"I actually wanted to talk to you about something."

"Oh no, please don't tell me you had unprotected sex again, and you need, yet another, test."

"No, jeez."

"You're, um, on the pill, right?" I asked.

She looked at me. "Lia, I'm on a lot of pills. You're gonna have to be more specific."

"Birth control, Am."

"Oh, yeah, that's one of my many pills, why?"

"Well, I've been thinking about going on it. You know, for those days where we kinda don't plan anything and we're stupid."

"Like every time?" I nodded.

"I could give you a pill to try out, that way you don't have to go out and buy a whole box. If you don't like it, you can stop taking it, but at least you didn't waste your money."

"Am, no offense, but your medicine cabinet is crazy. Between your pills and your moms, who knows which is which." Which is true. Amber is on a lot of pills and has a lot of pills in her house. She has pills for her ADHD, birth control, anxiety. And her mom just adds to it.

"Well, after this, we'll go to Dwane Reed and get a box."

"But you have to be eighteen."

"You don't remember? I'm older than you by three months. Hello, I'm eighteen."

Jason's POV

"It looks like a bomb went off in here." Jackson said, looking at my living room.

"Yeah, well, that's what happens when Bria lives with me. Half of this shit is hers."  Bria recently moved in with me at my house, because she got into a fight with her mom. Since Addison still lives at home, she can't live with him, and Adelaide has the baby, I was the last resort. Why she chose to stay here and not with Talia, is beyond me.

"I don't know why you don't just move back in with Talia."

"Because her parents are there, and it's weird. When they were away, we had the house to ourselves. But now, it's like they're monitoring our every move."

"Maybe because they don't want their daughter to end up pregnant?"

"Everyone thinks I'm gonna get her pregnant."

"Jase, it's happened before. Don't you remember Grace?"

"Of course I remember Grace. But that was before I met Talia."

"That was when you met her. Remember, her living with you, and you having to go to Grace's house because she was there. And Grace breaking the news to you, and she told you she wasn't keeping the baby."

"She lost the baby, though."

"It would've been born by now."

"It would've been in the arms of different parents."

"Stop fighting with me. If it happened before, it could happen again. Grace's life was ruined after that."

"Who's Grace?" A voice asked behind us. We both turned our heads towards the door.

"An old flame."

"His baby mama," Jackson mumbled. I elbowed him in the stomach and smiled at Talia.

"Okay, well, just wanted to see how far you've gotten with packing."

"I'm all done."

"Really? Then whose clothes are all over?"

"Bria's."

"How'd you get home?" I asked.

"Oh, Amber drove me. We went to Panera, and then we had to stop at the store."

"Where is she now?" Jackson asked.

"She had to go home. Her parents left her with her little brother."

"Oh, I have a question," I said, standing up.

"I may have an answer."

"Are there kids going on this trip?"

"Yup."

"Right, well, I gotta go throw these things into my suitcase." The pink box caught my eye and I stopped her.

"What's in the bag?" I asked. Jackson looked at us.

"What?"

"What's in the bag that's pink?"

"Oh, stuff for vacation. Mine and Amber's."

Natalia's POV

"Natalia, can you come here for a second?" My mom called.

"Coming!" I exclaimed, closing my suitcase up. My mom and I have been getting a better relationship lately, which is great. But she always wants to know my business, like, I love her, but I want her to mind her own business.

"Have a seat. We have to talk." She said, patting the chair across from her. I sat across from her and Zac, crossed my legs and put my hands in my lap.

"So, Amber's mom called me, a little concerned." I tilted my head in confusion. "It's no secret that you and Jason have been sleeping together. Which is something every mother or father doesn't like to hear, but it's a part of life."

"Mom, what's this about?"

"Honey, you going on birth control can cause a lot of risks."

"Amber told her mom that?"

"She used her mom's credit card. She saw it and called me because Amber already has her pills."

"Don't be that parent, mom." I groaned.

"I'm being that parent. We both are being that parent. Yes, birth control can protect against pregnancy, but what about other things?"

"Mom, just stop. Everything is fine."

"Natalia, everything is not fine. You are taking the risk of ruining your body, taking the risk of getting God knows what. And I don't want that to happen. I want you to be safe, at all times."

"Oh my god, mom, we are,"

"We are trying to protect you, honey."

"Protect me? You're practically insulting my boyfriend, saying he could have a disease or something!"

"We're not insulting him. We love Jason, baby. We do. But our first priority is you, and if you take the risk, without getting tested, we fail as parents."

"Since when did you ever care about what I did? Why now? Why not eight months ago? Why not... When you left the first time? Why now?"

"We have always cared about you. We may never have seemed like it, but we did. We have been pretty laid back with your relationship. Letting him stay here, letting you stay with him, going places with his family, but this needs to be addressed."

"Amber takes it."

"Because she has to. Just like you have to take your pills. She has to take them."

"Now, either you leave the pills here, or you give them to Amber." She said.

"You want me to leave them here, so you can use them."

"No, I want them here so you won't take them."

"You just want to take them. We all know it. Just like when you cheated the first time on dad, and then again. And again."

"This is not about me, nor my past. You leave them here or give them to Amber. You are not taking them. And if I find out you did take one, you will not see Jason anymore. And that's final, do you understand me? I tried to make this civil, but you turned it into something it's not." I ran out of my house, literally ran. With my suitcase in my hand, flying behind me, and my phone in the other. My feet carried me to Jason's house. My chest rose and fell heavily from the anger. My tears were flying down my cheeks from anger.

"H... What's wrong? What happened?" Jason asked, taking me into his arms.

"I can't with her. I want her gone!" I exclaimed, dropping to the ground.

"Hey, hey, who?"

"My mom! She's a bitch!"

"What happened?" He asked, kneeling in front of me.

"She found out I bought birth control, and she flipped! She told me... If I use one, I wouldn't be able to see you."

"Birth control?"

"Yes, Jason! Birth control."

"Why do you want birth control?"

"Because, it'll make you happier."

"What?" He asked, sitting down on the floor. "No, baby. I love you, that's what makes me happy. The sex... Is great, like really great, but you're what makes me happy."

"I thought you would want more,"

"Everything is perfect, Talia. I don't care what we use, as long as I have you."

"I love you." He sighed, taking me in his arms. I held onto his forearm tightly and took in a deep breath.

"I love you too."
