89. Chapter Eighty Nine

So, I just wanted to let all of you know that these chapters that I am writing right now, since this book is coming to an end, they will all have meaning in the sequel. They basically are shaping the sequel, everything that is happening from now on, you will hear again most likely in the sequel. For this chapter, listen to the song A Little Too Much by Shawn Mendes

Natalia's POV

"Hey, can we talk real quick?" Jason asked. "Oh, are you done pouting now?" I asked, closing my book. "T, this is serious." He replied. I sighed and sat up on the couch, leaving space so he could sit. He sat right next to me, and turned his body to me.

"Why didn't you tell me Zac was trying to adopt you and Macey?" He asked. "Did Jackson tell you that? He swore not to tell anyone. I swear, I'm gonna kill him for saying something." I said, standing up. "Yo, no. Sit back down. Talia, this is serious." He said, pulling my hand down to him.

"Why didn't you tell me about your mom?" He asked. "He told you that too!?" I exclaimed. "Talia, stop yelling. Am I yelling right now? No. You shouldn't be either. I know it's your defense mechanism, but there's no need right now. This is a civil conversation." He said. I sighed and sat down on the couch next to him, once again.

"You need to tell me these things, babe. I can't be a good boyfriend to you, if you don't tell me. I want to help you through this. I've been trying really hard to be this person you want me to be, but you need to be in this too. Not just me, alright?" He asked. I looked down to the carpeted floor and nodded.

"Now, tell me. What's going on?" He asked. "You really wanna know?" I asked. He nodded and took my hand in his. "Everything. Everything that's going on in your head, everything that's going on in your family, in your life, everything that's going on with you." He replied.

"I went to pick up Zack the other day from the house, but he was asleep upstairs in his crib. My mom's car was there, so I knew she was home, for once in her life, and I thought she was taking a nap, since she isn't sleeping well, and I went to check on her, you know, in case she wasn't breathing, which, wouldn't be the end of the world, but just to make sure.

"So, when I opened the door.... There was Rob and my mother, going at it like animals. In her own home, where her and her own husband sleep. Her son was two doors down, and he knows how to get out of his crib. I slammed the bedroom door closed, and they stopped immediately. I mean, she had to know it was me, you know? No one else was supposed to be home besides me and the baby.

"My mom came into the nursery with her stupid robe on, and all she did was look at me. She told me I didn't see the whole thing. But, like, you see two people in the same bed, with no clothes on, one on top of the other, moving around like animals, you would suspect what was going on, right? She told me he was giving her CPR. You wanna know why she told me that? Because she's a terrible mother. A terrible one." I finished.

"I'm sorry you had to see that." He sighed, running his hand up and down my back. "I'm sorry I have her as a mother. You know, I just want a mom who will hold me when I need it. Did you know, she's never told me I love you. Ever. But you know what's funny... your mom has said that to me, and she's held me when I needed it, and she's picked me up from school. She was more of a mother than mine ever was." I scoffed.

"Yeah, but look at how you turned out." He smiled. "Yeah, I turned out fine, thanks to my dad. He was there for me, more than my mom was. If I needed something, my dad would have to get it, because my mom was always on some business trip. She was probably at Rob's house the whole time and not telling us." I replied.

"And now, on top of all that, Zac is trying to adopt Macey. Don't get me wrong, Zac is a great guy with great intentions, but it'll never happen. He'll probably divorce my mom before he adopts her. And honestly, he deserves better than my mom. He honestly does. It's not fair to him that he has to live under the same house as my mother." I informed.

"Do you want Zac to adopt Macey?" He asked. "I don't know. I want Macey to have a father figure and be able to call Zac her dad, but then I don't want him to adopt her, because if they do divorce, she's stuck with the last name of Klein." I replied. He nodded.

"I think there's one thing to do here, and you're not gonna like it." He said. I nodded. " I think you need to talk to you mom and Zac about this. I can see it's really getting to you, which is why you want me to fix my relationship with my dad. It's getting to your head." He informed. I nodded.

"Natalia! What a surprise, we were just talking about you." My mom smiled, as Jason and I walked into the kitchen. "Sure you were. Is Zac here?" I asked. "No, he's out right now, why?" My mom asked. "I need to talk to him about something." I replied. "About? I could tell him what you want me to." She said. "No, it's fine." I replied, looking over to Rob.

"Actually, I'll talk to you now." I smiled. "Really?" She asked, looking over to Rob, who had his arm around his wife's waist. I nodded, and smiled. "Hi, Rob, Angelina, it's great to see you again. Been a while, hasn't it?" I smirked. Rob gulped and nodded. "It has. I guess you should go talk to your mom." He replied. "I guess I should, shouldn't I?" I asked. He nodded and Angelina smiled, not knowing what's going on with her husband.

"You know what I loved so much about my father?" I asked. "Talia." Jason warned. "What did you love about him, Natalia, dear?" Angelia asked. She was truly an amazing woman, and she shouldn't be getting this kind of treatment. All she has ever done was love Rob and love their children, and this is how she gets repaid? It's not right.

"My father was a kind and loyal man, you know? Til death do us part, you know? He was an honest and loyal man and a loyal father. You remind me so much of him, Rob. When dad died, you were there for everyone in this family, and you were such a loyal man to us, and you still are. I mean, you took care of my mother everyday, and I don't know how you did it. I know she's acting up again, can you tell me how you did it before, so I could work on her too?" I asked, with a heavy smirk on my face.

"You know, I was just there to hold her, and there to support her up again." Rob replied. "I believe your mother is waiting for you, Natalia." He informed. "I guess she is. It was great to see you again, Angelina. I really hope you're doing okay with the new baby and all." I smiled. She smiled back and nodded.

"Why are you doing this to Zac?" I asked, once I entered the office. "Talia, you need to understand what's going on." My mom replied. "No, I don't need to understand. You're cheating on Zac, who is an amazing person and a great father to not only to Zack, but to Macey and me. I didn't see it before, but I see it now. And he doesn't deserve this." I said.

"Why are you doing this, mom?" I asked. "I'm lonely, Natalia. I need someone." She replied. "Mom, you have Zac here with you, how could you be lonely? Why can't you be the perfect wife for him? All he wants is for you to love him, mom. Why can't you do that?" I asked, tears forming in my eyes.

"I love him, Natalia. It's always been Rob." She said. "No, it was always supposed to be dad, don't you see?" I asked. "Honey, your father knew I was in love with Rob, he always knew, but he brushed it away. Rob was my first boyfriend, before your father." She informed.

"Is Macey even dad's? Is Zack even Zac's son?" I asked. She looked down. "Oh my god." I said, covering my mouth with my hands. "Macey is your father's." She said. "And what about Zack, huh?" I asked. She looked down. "I can't believe you. You are not my mother." I said, backing away from her.

"Natalia, you need to listen to me." She said, trying to catch my hand. "Don't touch me!" I yelled, throwing my hand behind my back. "Natalia, you can't tell anyone. You can't tell Zac, he'll be crushed if he found out." She said, tears streaming down her face. I shook my head, and covered my mouth. "Am I even related to my father? Or is my father Rob?" I asked. "Natalia, I swear to you, you are your father's daughter." She said. I shook my head.

"Natalia, please, don't tell anyone about this, please. I am begging you." She said, catching my hand. "Let go of me!" I yelled. "Talia, you can't say anything!" She yelled.

The door slammed open, and arms wrapped around my waist, pulling me into their chest. Jason's cologne filled my nose, as I breathed heavily. Rob stood behind Jason with his arms at his side and Angelina attached to his hip.

"We're done here." Jason said, putting his arm around my shoulder and walking me out the office door. I stopped in the hallway and turned to the oh so happy couple, my mother and Rob. "Rot in hell, both of you. Angelina, you deserve better." I said, before walking to the front door.

"What happened?" Zac asked, putting his briefcase on the ground. Jason just shook his head, making Zac look to the hallway. "Get out while you can. Adopt Macey and get out." I said, before leaving my childhood house behind.

Jason's POV

"So, where is Talia now?" Jackson asked. "She's in bed. I think she's sleeping." I replied, watching the guys in the background throw their helmets at each other. "You have to be there for her right now, Jase. Don't leave her alone." He said. "I know. It's just... the way she reacted it was... weird." I replied. "How so?" He asked. "I don't know. She just kinda... broke down." I replied. "That's gonna happen. She's going through a lot. She just found out her brother isn't even her step dad's." He replied. I nodded.

"Hey." Talia whispered, coming up behind me. "Hey, baby. Are you feeling better?" I asked, turning my head to look at her. "Yeah, can I, um, talk to Jackson?" She asked. "Yeah. I'll go check on the baby, okay?" I asked. She nodded and sat in the seat I previously sat in.

Natalia's POV

"Jason told me what happened, are you okay?" Jackson asked. "Yeah." I replied. "Talia, don't lie to me." He said. "I don't know, Jack. I really don't." I replied. "What's going through your mind right now?" He asked. "I think the reason why I reacted the way I did, was because I could relate to my mom." I blurted. He scrunched his eyebrows.

"The other day when I went to see Jason's dad, he said something that really... i don't know, freaked me out." I said. "Yeah?" He asked. "He said I still liked you, and that's why I have trouble opening up to you, rather than Jason." I said. He laughed and shook his head. "But Jackson, my mom today said it was always Rob who she loved, and my dad knew it. I just feel like this is how I will be when I'm older. If you think about it, you're Jason's best friend, and you were my first boyfriend before. And Amber is my best friend. What if this is a sign?" I asked.

"Talia, you're letting all of this get to you. You love Jason, and that's that. Jason's dad always drills things into people's mind, so they start going insane, and that's what you're doing. You don't still like me. You're a friend to me, and I'm a friend to you. Everything that happened today was just a coincidence in your life, because Jason's dad told you this stuff." He replied. I nodded.

"I need to go now, but call me tomorrow, okay? Let me know how you're doing." Jackson said. I nodded. "Okay. Thank you, Jackson, really." I replied. "Anytime, T, you know that. I may be in the army, but I'm never gonna leave you or Jason alone." He smiled. I took a deep breath and nodded, before hanging up the Skype call.

Do you think it's a coincidence, or do you think it's just an older version of what Talia's life will end up being like? Leave your comments and let me know:)
