1. Chapter 1 - Introduction

(Hey guys! If you are reading this, you have just clicked on my re-write for an AWFUL Pokemon fanfic I wrote, like, three years ago... I am now in the process of writing a new one, featuring myself and possibly some of you guys if you are interested. If you are just let me know! The first chapter is going to introduce me and Aldrin, so hope you enjoy my more improved fanfic, and I shall get started!)

Hi! My name is Lozzie, and I live in Solaceon Town with my Mum, Dad and younger sister, Lucie. I wish I could make my introduction more interesting, but I am afraid nothing exciting has happened just yet. I'm just your regular 18 year old who does not feel like they have passed the barrier from teen to adult (because I probably still have the mentality of a 10 year old) just yet, but I have no regrets.

I would love to say I am an amazing Pokemon Master, but that would be a lie. But I do aspire to become one eventually, it just hasn't been my time just yet. Well...I have had opportunities since I was 10 years old, but every time I declined because I was either too scared to face the world alone...or...actually, that's pretty much the only excuse I have. Instead I just like to hang around the Pokemon Daycare where my Gran and Grandpa work all day every day, looking after all the cute Pokemon that are handed over. Gran says she enjoys my company because it means less hard labour for her, but also she says my presence seems to make the Pokemon more active, and in turn, make them stronger and pampered quicker. To be honest, I think that is just her way of being polite, because all I do is stroke and talk to them...other than that I don't really do much work.

Ok, so onto the main topic. I have FINALLY gained the courage to start an adventure all of my own! That's right, I declared it to Mum and Dad this morning after Professor Rowan's TV show finished after breakfast. He said that he once again is searching for aspiring Pokemon trainers to come and help him with some research, and I thought to myself, Maybe now I can actually be a trainer, and be useful at the same time!

"It's about time you said that!" Mother grinned at me, muttering sarcastically after I broke the news, "Do you have any idea how long we have waited for you to say that?"

I sweat dropped at the remark, "I just didn't feel ready then...gimme a break..."

"You weren't ready for 8 years Lozzie. But enough patronising, you go on ahead and enjoy yourself, while I go and write to Rowan." Mum shooed me out of the house in a flash and slammed the door.

"H-hey!" I called back, but on the other side of the door I heard Mum calling to Dad.

"About time we should celebrate. I thought she would never go ahead..."

"That's wonderful news, dear!" Gran clapped her hands and smiled sweetly as I told her the news, "Now you can finally go and explore Sinnoh for yourself."

For a split second I felt like changing my mind, the whole of Sinnoh?? I never thought of it in that way before...sounds like too much effort.

"And anyway, we need your help, so this will be a most convenient time for us too." Gran explained.

Oh great, I knew there was something else that made her this enthusiastic...I pouted slightly as Gran beckoned me into the back room. From a high shelf, she reached up and shifted down a fairly small cardboard box, embedded with straw inside. Within I spotted a rare sight that made a small gasp escape my lips.

"Now...I need you to go and deliver this egg to a man in Twinleaf Town for me. His Lucario was holding it this morning, and as the rules go, we need him to pick it up as quickly as possible. But unfortunately, he can't collect it because he has been sick the past couple of days, poor thing, so this would be a very convenient time for you to go over and hand it over to him personally." Gran explained, thrusting the box into my hands.

Wide eyed from the sudden explanation, I nodded quickly to Gran, "Sure, I guess I can do that."

"Excellent! Well, I shall take that back from you now, so it's safe for you tomorrow, and I shall see you bright and early tomorrow morning!" Gran's smile returned as she scooted me out of the back room.

Jeez, why am I being pushed around so much?

Skulking down the town, with nothing better to do, I sighed to myself, I envy that guy...he has a Lucario and an egg. It's true that Lucario is by far and away my favourite Pokemon of all times, and I really wished that I could have one of my own. But as far as I am aware, there is no way of encountering one in the wild, or even it's pre-evolved form. So in that respect I am snookered.

Suddenly a mass leapt onto my back, snapping me back into reality, and allowing me to tumble forwards and land, flat on my front in the grass. I felt a nuzzle on my spine followed by a tingling sensation conducting around my entire body, making me twitch.

"Had a nice trip, Lozzie?" a familiar voice called from behind me.

The mass let out a small cry and leapt off my back, scurrying over to the voice.

"Mmph..." I grunted, a mouthful of dirt. Quickly, I scrambled to my feet and turned to face my childhood friend, "Indeed Aldrin. It was great..." I muttered sarcastically, dusting off the dry dirt from my clothes.

"Ah! Come on, you know you shouldn't turn your back on Raichu! Not even for a second" Aldrin scratched the back of his neck and smiled sheepishly.

I didn't even see him coming! I snapped in my head, a vein popping out my my brow

From next to him, his Raichu nodded once, as if pleased with himself, his earrings and tufts of fur bobbing up and down. I scowled at the two of them, Jeez, like Trainer like Pokemon...

"So, I heard that you're gonna start an adventure tomorrow. It's about time isn't it?" Aldrin stepped forward and nudged my rib with his elbow.

"That's what they're all saying..." I retorted, rolling my eyes and rummaging in my jean pocket for a tissue. My hayfever was acting up again.

"But it's true. I mean you're 18, I'm 18, you haven't left the town on your own, I have, you don't own a Pokemon, I do, you don't have any Gym Badges, I..." Aldrin started pointing at each of his fingers, pointing out each difference between us.

"Ok, Ok, I get the point." I couldn't help but grin at my friend's good natured bragging. As payback for the humiliation, I roughly shoved him into a nearby Oran berry bush and quick walked away.

I heard rustling, and the sniggering of Raichu, as Aldrin tried to struggle his way out of the bush.

"Ha...I guess I deserved that." he murmured, pulling a few twigs out of his hoodie.

"Yes you did!" I called from a few yards ahead, as I turned on my heel and continued to walk away, waiting for Aldrin to catch up.

We ended up back at my house, eating lunch which Mum prepared earlier.

"So this is really happening?" Aldrin asked, a mouthful of sandwich, "When?" he added when I nodded.

"Tomorrow." Mother interrupted, holding up a thin white envelope in between her index and middle finger, "I've already written a letter for you to give to Rowan. Don't thank me, just get it sorted." she dropped it in front of me and headed outside where Lucie and Dad were doing some gardening.

I giggled slightly, "Well...there's your answer!" I replied to Aldrin.

He grinned, "Well, I guess I had better tag along, just in case you get too lost, or too confused, or too - hey!" he ducked as I launched the other half of my sandwich at him.

"That would be lovely of you, thanks!" I then smiled sweetly, as I watched Raichu catch the sandwich half in mid-air and eat it in one mouthful.

And that's how my day panned out. After all that drama, I spent the rest of my day packing my bag and preparing for tomorrow. After all, I am going to become a Pokemon Master eventually!
