Every girl has had that one guy they had a crush in high school. That one guy that was untouchable. That guy for me was Michael Clifford.

He wasn’t your average quarterback of the football team. No, Michael was a prankster who had different colored hair every month. He was the most handsome guy I’ve ever seen in my life. Of course, I never associated myself with him, mainly because we were in two different worlds.

While he loved to egg teacher’s cars, I was the kid who always had their nose in a book.

But on one faithful day, we met.

It was beautiful Friday morning. I was sitting at the dining table with my parents and older brother, Garrett, who was a pain in my ass.

“So, what are your plans after school, Gary?” mom asked, taking a sip of her coffee.

Garrett groaned at the nickname mom gave him. “I’m heading over to Luke’s. We’ve got band practice before the Battle of the Bands coming up.”

Mom nodded, she then turned to me. “And you, Athena?”

I looked up from the book I was currently reading and smiled at her. “I’ll be helping Mrs. Barbour at the library.”

Garrett snickered at me from across the table. I glared at him before getting up from the table. “I’m heading to school. Love you mom and dad.”

I grabbed my book bag and headed out the front door. I walked to the end of the street and waited for the bus to come. Grabbing my phone from my pocket, I placed earphones in my ears and blasted some Taylor Swift.

I then felt a nudge on my shoulder. I looked to my right, putting on my best glaring face to the person beside me.  My heart stopped at the sight before me.

It was Michael fudging Clifford.

He was dressed in his usual plaid shirt with black skinnies. His blue hair swaying slightly with the wind. He a crocked grin on his face as he gazed down at me with his blue-green eyes dancing with amusement. In other words, he was sexy.

I took my earphones out with shaky hands.

“Y-Yes?” I stuttered out. I mentally slapped myself at my stuttering. His smirk grew more at my nervousness.

“You’re Athena right? Garrett’s little sister?” he said, leaning against the bus stop sign.

I nodded numbly. I was afraid to mutter out anymore words because of my fast beating heart.

“Nice. I’ll see you around, dollface.” He then grabbed his skateboard and rolled down the street.

I let out a breath I didn’t realize I was holding in. That was so nerve racking. That was the first time Michael had ever spoken to me, heck even looked at me. Somehow, I had a feeling it wasn’t going to be the last.
