To whomever it may concern...

This is my slam poem I wrote, I hope you like it!

1. My poem.

To whom ever it may concern,

I used to think there was just fat and skinny but apparently there is so much more that can be wrong with you. Who am I? Who am I? Who am I? Do you remember who you were before society told you who you had to be? Before the cruel tip of a double edged sword carved pretty into your mind and fake on your heart.  Straight teeth, newest trends, you only look good if your clothes are expensive. Oh dear, it's been so long since I've seen my real self.

Who am I? I wonder if you see me the way I see myself, or is a mirror just a gag joke, an image of who you think you are, who the world wants you to be. Is this who you are? Is a size 2 what defines youis makeup and tight clothes the very definition of your name? I tell you no! This is not who we are, we've been twisted and pulled, limb by limb to fit into a world that was misshapen before we got to it! Sometimes you try so hard to fit in you lose yourself emotionally, and find yourself physically... Oh dear, it's been so long since I've seen my real self.

I wonder who has found themselves, found themselves painting on a smile before school just to leave behind an artificial warmth that will whisk away as an ironic remnant for society to feed off of. But this is what the world does, hunts down the innocent by their bittersweet, naive scent and kills. Does this pain scream loud enough for you to hear? Oh dear, it's been so long since I've seen my real self.

Who am I? NO. Welcome to the world of who was I because've played your role so well that you've turned into the person you were pretending to be.

So, to whom ever it may concern. we've lost something very important to us, and that is ourselves.
